Looking to get back into collecting Castle sets. However I'm not interested in the OLD sets even though I know these are widely regarded as the best. Just think these are a tad dated looking. Can you give me your TOP 5 Must own Castle sets from 1995 - Present. Gimme some reasons why these are your favs.

I recently ran a thread under General Discussion about Top 3 Best\Worst Sets of all time. Knights Kingdom came up quite a bit on the Worst list, while the standard Castle theme came in #1 on the best. What is the difference between these 2? Why the hate toward Knights Kingdom? I grew up on Legos, but grew out of it through out the 90's up until I had my son a few years back. Then my love was rekindled with alot of great sets Lego has been putting out. What did I miss on the Knights Kingdom run?

Agreed. I posted this to see really what are the legitimately worst sets, basically flubs on Lego's part. I pretty much missed the whole Lego boat in the 90's so was hoping you guys would tell me what I missed with posts like these. I'm not a fan of the SW sets, but I do admit they've done some amazing ships and the Death Star II was stellar. So no way I would say that SW sets are lame. I think we need to focus on what sets Lego basically fumbled the snap on. Sounds to me like Galidor and Exo-force are leading the charge. I hate to pick on Bionicle, because condolences if you do really like it, but I just think it's just not Lego. City to me is Lego at it's purest, which is why I rank it #1.

I should've clarified this. I LOVE the IJ minifigs. Wish they sold them seperately. I bought the Ark Chase set, and I'd love to get the Shanghi Set for the Short Round figure, but the sets in general just dont do much for me. Not to mention (along with Star Wars) the latest movie was so bad why should I care about the sets from it?

This may have been done before, but with the new Power Miners and Agents themes out, I thought it would be a fun post. Basically just what are your Top 3 Best or Favorite themes and then your Top 3 worst or just themes that you have no use for. Here's Mine: BEST 1. City theme - just love this, feels like a real life Simcity. 2. Technics - used to not care for this, but Lego has realy taken it to a new level with the Power Functions features. 3. Power Miners - my latest kick. WORST 1. Bionicle - just hate it 2. Spongebob - not to pick on the kids sets, but just dont see how this could be a Lego System set, Duplo yes. 3. Exo-Force - really lame Runner up for worst: Indiana Jones - I just think Lego is reaching with these sets. Let's face it there's just not a lot to translate from the movies into Legos. I would like to see the tank from Last Crusade but aside from that it just seems like Lego is really hurting for ideas on this line. I love IJ too, but I can't get into this set. Your thoughts?

Don't know if you can compare the PM to the Star Wars or Pirates lines. Star Wars is in its 10th year, and Pirates has been off and on for 20 years now. By flop I meant bombing right out of the gate. I'm definitely seeing a lot of enthusiasm on the boards now for this series. I was at Target last night and the Mech Miner and Thunder Driller were both sold out. Guess the answer to the question is 'Power Miners a flop?' a resounding NO! On a side note, it does seem like there always a billion Star Wars sets on the shelves. As far as what I see most kids going for? The City and Indiana Jones sets.

Well gang, I stopped back off at TRU on the way home from work and picked up the Crystal Sweeper for $55. Not bad I guess, definitely wouldnt have paid $70. This was the only set in the line that really jumped out at me from the get go. After the build I'll let you know if it was even worth it at this price. FYI - The sets were on Sale, not Clearance.

Forgot to mention that, I really like the minifigs. Just dont like the rock monsters.
-
I think you nailed it on the backstory. This theme kind of came out of nowhere, but then again Lego has always had a knack for doing that. My son watches a lot of Disney and Nickolodeon and they run these Power Miner commercials like mad. What I dont like is the rock monsters, I think they are silly. Maybe if this was more a sub theme to the City Construction set, but with a futuristic spin on it I might like it more. Otherwise I'm with you on if your going to run with these rock villains then get these guys a cool base or something. I love the green color on the vehicles, but otherwise I'm not enamored.
-
It was ALL of them. I don't know if it's just a local promotion or the stores call and not Lego's itself. The big $70 set was marked down to $55. That almost baited me into it, but alas still couldn't do it.
-
All of them. TRU had like 6 sets all marked down 25%. Dont remember Target's markdown.
-
Wondering what vibe you guys are getting on this series. I was recently at TRU and Target and both had this set on Clearance. None of the other Lego sets were marked down. I think one or two of the sets look good, but nothing I'd fork out $70 for. Your thoughts?
