Ah, thanks a lot @Calabar. As a newbie to Technic modeling I am quite starry eyed at the moment. Does anyone know a good alternative to LDD on the Mac? I picked up Bricksmith however that doesn't seem as full featured. I have read that SR3D Builder creates a similar environment, however is only on the PC. Thanks again for the guidance.

I found this link - http://wiki.ldraw.org/index.php?title=LDraw_to_LDD_conversion which lists the problems you mentioned and suggests a way to "update" LDD to make conversion possible. I'll report on any luck.

I thought you could draw up a part in LDraw, save as ldr, and LDD can pick it up?

Now if I can only figure out how to import them properly into lego digital designer...
