  1. I know this set received a lot of derision for lacking any pieces besides the minifig and dragon, but it really was an excellent way to acquire those figs at a cheap price! I really love those old Lego dragons; too bad we never got them in any other colors.
  2. I got this set as a kid and I loved it! It still looks great now, with all those small pieces adding a lot of detail. It may look better if the colors were less garish (maybe brown instead of red?), but the Dragon Masters sets were all kind of uniformly gaudy. I hope that the new Kingdoms line takes some inspiration from the Dragon Masters, as that theme was really very fun and playable, despite having some issues with its architectural execution.
  3. I got a couple of the small sets from this line when it came out. Recently, I acquired several more from Bricklink because I just really love the way they look. This theme really had good intentions, but the execution was flawed. I hope one day Lego returns to a darker tone, but maybe next time it could be more Castlevania inspired. That would really turn some heads! Plus, vampires and gothic aesthetics are really popular now. It will probably have run its course by the time Lego would be able to develop a theme around them, though.
  4. It does look like it could be a female prisoner in the dragon's tower. It looks to me like the fig has a black cone hat on, but it's so blurry and dark it could be anything. I'm hoping its headpiece will end up being the queen's hair from Drawbridge Defense, but in a different color and with a different colored crown (silver?). It would be cool if the fig was some other prominent royal character, too, like a prince with a different crown mold or priest.
  5. I'd really like to see some civilian sets, too. Some civilian impulse sets would be too good to be true. Like a peasant with a pitchfork and a pig, or a maid with a broom and a well. Those would be something I'd buy a lot of. I wish Lego would make a huge minifig pack for the other themes like they do for city. C'mon Lego, people would buy it! And you don't have to attach a chess board to it either.
  6. Wow! Thanks for posting these images. Seems like the PoP sets will be great minifig and parts sets. I can't wait to see some hi-res photos!
  7. Falcons (black or otherwise) would be great to see with a little update. Lions are cool, but we've already seen them plenty. If we have different heraldry, it would be nice if it was at least kind of authentic (unlike KK2's explosion of really strange ones, I mean monkeys? Had anyone in medieval europe ever even seen a monkey before?). Griffins, swords, or trees (like in LOTR) would be pretty nice. I wouldn't mind seeing dragons again with a different color scheme and appearance. As much as I can't wait to see these new sets, I really will be sad to see the fantasy era pass. It really was a creative rebirth for the theme and had some great sets, parts, and especially figs. Hopefully the new line will be as good or better! And I know a lot of people here will disagree, but I hope for a few more fantasy creatures, too.
  8. Wow, these look amazing! I can't believe how many unique parts these have! It would be cool if Lego did a themed minifig collection, too, so that you could just buy a whole bunch and not worry about getting figs you didn't want (granted you liked the theme). I'm sure that won't be happening, though.
  9. Wow! The game seems like nothing special, but those heads are really nice! I remember seeing them in some mocs on Brickshelf and getting really excited about making some figs out of them. This is coming out in the US I hope.
  10. I'd get another Brickbeard's Bounty so I could make one variation that is larger, and one that is smaller. And for duplicates of those awesome female figs.
  11. I'll be getting this without question.
  12. It's really cool you've collected all these here. I have all but 1--Professor Trelawney. I really want that fig to make a fortune-teller character too, but all the rarer HP figs are so expensive on Bricklink! The height difference always bothered me as a kid, but I don't mind it so much now. I sort of wonder why they never made a piece specifically for this purpose (that attached tightly to the torso) before. The assembly can be kind of fragile. I also like to attach the old style legs to the female torsos to make skirts. It looks really cool like that and the height difference is adjustable, though I've found that sometimes there are color variations since those style leg pieces are pretty old.
  13. Wow, those beasts sure are awesome. Especially the king squid. I think LEGO has the right idea with the smaller sets as I went to Target today, and all the small Space Police sets were completely sold out! I think parents really like being able to buy the cheaper sets and kids really like getting new monsters in each of them. I'm still a little disappointed there aren't merpeople in Atlantis. That would have really made me happy. Can't really complain, though, since the figs are so cool!
  14. More mermaids would be awesome! I was sort of disappointed when I saw the Atlantis sets didn't have any merpeople. I was kind of hoping it would. Classic Disney animated films would be really interesting and could appeal to girls too. I just hope they would be system minifigs and not entirely new figs. I highly doubt that LEGO would make them, though. Can LEGO make Kingdom Hearts sets with the Disney license? Or does Square Enix only have license to use the Disney characters? Even though I haven't played those games, that might be pretty lucrative as those games are quite successful and the characters potentially span lots of different interests (classic Disney to Final Fantasy).
  15. Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I saw this set too. It looks pretty plain, but the games (especially the original PC game) were all about elaborate death traps in somewhat bland, dungeon environments. The traps and the character animation was always the focus. It's really pretty amazing how accurately LEGO has managed to work the feel of the games into this set. I wonder if the movie will be able to do the same? And I must say that the figs are even better than I could have imagined.
  16. I love the fantasy castle stuff, but I can understand how it can be getting stale to other people. As a child, I would have died to have the sets we are getting nowadays too! Though it's been announced we won't get elves per se, maybe we'll get a more mystical "forestpeople" like druids or wiccans. That would be pretty cool. I was wondering how they would mold elves anyways as the stereotypical appearance revolves around the ears and it would be pretty strange to see molded ears on a fig. I'd be pretty happy seeing a new human faction, though, and maybe a mystical humanoid antagonist faction led by the witch from the chess set/advent calendar.
  17. As awesome as it would be if we had a new futuristic ninja theme (like the recent Ninja Gaiden games), it seems pretty unlikely. The designs in that promotional art are pretty far out for actual LEGO pieces, and most of new pieces presented in the LEGO video games either never gets produced, or are significantly changed before they find their way into an official set. As far as I can tell, the artists that design the characters for the games and the product developers that mold the pieces are not related at all. I could be wrong, though.
  18. I would vastly prefer classic pirates to POTC, but the licensed theme would likely introduce some nice new parts. Even still, I would probably just buy the parts I wanted over Bricklink since I just can't get myself to incorporate the fleshies into my homogeneous collection of yellow minifigs. Even the excellent Indiana Jones figs I pretty much passed over because of the flesh tone printing on the torsos. It makes me think that someday all the figs will be flesh tones except the equivalent of the "legend" or "retro" sets.
  19. I will sign this as well. I was so happy when the preliminary photos from this new pirate line first leaked. Between that and the new castle line I was starting to think we were seeing a new golden age. Please don't squash it LEGO!
  20. I would like to sign this as well. I'll call the store and give a password or whatever hoops I have to jump through to get it!
  21. I'm not usually interested in any themes besides castle and pirates, but I must say I really like this! The creatures are so well constructed; they really makes me nostalgic for when I was a kid and used to make other things out of my sets instead of just build them as the instructions dictate.
  22. this is really stunning. i love all the wood detailing; it really makes the model stand out! i love the scale too. this is part of a classic-castle.com challenge, right? i love that the scale is more in tune with the way that retail lego sets are. sometimes mocs are just too large and seem empty, but not this one!
  23. i'm so disappointed this advent calendar won't be available in the US. will we be able to order it by phone like we could last year with the castle advent calendar? i was hoping to get at least one to acquire more of the rare mermaid minifig. i was also planning on getting this in lieu of buying the tic-tac-toe and chess sets since they contain inferior figs and this does not. that sucks if we had no option but pricey bricklink or ebay.
  24. I would love to see an exclusive port town in the style of the MMV with civilians and perhaps compatible with the soldier's fort. It would be cool to see a figure with a powdered wig (like a judge or governor fig) like I think was discussed in one of the topics on the forum. Of course, it's always nice to have some more female figs. A small merchant (civilian) boat would really complement this set nicely. Besides this, I would like to see a large soldier's ship (perhaps the large set of the new wave) with at least some torso variation in the redcoats (like how old pirates had several different red and blue coat torsos) if they are not going to make the soldiers a different color. For the pirates, I would like to see some new faces and torsos, especially for the captain. I would be nice to have a more "tattered" captain fig (like an updated version of this) to perhaps inhabit an island refuge set and add some diversity to who is leading the pirates. I'd also like to see the rag hat in more colors, and maybe a new longer style rag hat mold. It would be nice for the pirates to have a smaller ship for those who can't afford to get the last wave's big set. I think it would be really interesting to have a "pirate queen" be a new major character in the next wave. Perhaps even the main pirate leader. This is especially true since the new pirate line has a really strong female component already (with the governor's daughter, pirate wench, and mermaid). Another thing I would like to see is a pirate chess set with the new figures from the next wave. New admiral fig or governor fig for the soldier's king, new governor's wife fig for the queen, new colored or torsoed soldiers for the pawns. For the pirates side: new pirate captain (perhaps with different colored hook), new pirate queen fig, new mixture of pirate figs for the pawns. If they wanted to make it a huge set like the immense castle one from a while back, they could add soldiers on horses and mermaids as decorations to it. But that's probably just wishful thinking :)
  25. this pack is too awesome. i'll definitely buy at least one. hopefully they'll put out a dwarf or elf battlepack now as previously mentioned. i would personally really love a peasant "battle" pack, but that's probably too much wishful thinking
