  1. I like the musket best, it looks most appealing and the design is very clever for posing purposes.
  2. I really admired the brilliance of this sub contest, which I think added a lot to the overall contest. Congratulations to the really deserved winners!
  3. Congratulations Captain Kirk and SirNandroj! I am very happy that I got within the top 3. Only the font size of my already not very modest name is a bit large, making me a bit uncomfortable . Thanks to all the people who participated, voted and especially to those who organized this competitipon. I enjoyed participating a lot and making this MOC truely helped me through some otherwise boring weeks. I am looking forward to future piratey contests on eurobricks/classic-pirates. If I can't participate I will still greatly enjoy looking at th other entries.
  4. Good job SirNandroj, Erdbeereis and Capt. Kirk! Congratulations on those great entries!
  5. A great contest gets its great winners! Good job, congratulations!
  6. 1. SlyOwl 2. Phred 3. Captain Greenhair 4. Hinckley
  7. 29. Exotrator - The Pirates of San Pedro 27. Capt. Kirk - Le Quartier Brique 36. Lord King of Everything - Die for the King! The Pirates of San Pedro get my first vote, as I found the entry to create a great atmosphere, really piraty. The roofs were awsome. Only thing I missed was a big ship, I would have been very interested what it would have looked like. Would be a deserved winner! Le Quartier Brique was great too, I think he had the greatest first photo, it looks very action packed. The woodwork on the buildings is breathtaking. The only reason Le Quartier Brique did not get my first vote is that The Pirates of San Pedro had a more piratey feel. My third place vote goes to myself!
  8. 16. SirNadroj - Quartering The Quartermasters 14. Erdbeereis1 - Murder In The Market! 9. Majek - There will be "Bang" It was realy hard to choose, but I really loved the way SirNandroj made that mutulated carcass in combination with that bloodied sabre. Erbeedeis1 his entry was very detailed, I especially loved the bottom level and the 'meat' arms. The pink pirates won me over for Majeks very realistic looking entry.
  9. I like the evil eye guy, it tickles the imagination.Makes you feel sorry for the lower ranked guys standing behind him. And nice army! Much bigger than mine, I only have one red coat.
  10. 37. Chrispockster - Swashbucklin' 7. Fat Tony - Pirate's End 16. Olog - Why pirates are so horrible... I think the Swashbucklin' entry is quite flawless. The action taking place makes this entry look very alive. It is not the goriest of entries, nor the cruelest idea, but the execution is just marvelous! I loved the way Fat Tony managed to get birds in different poses, while clearly keeping the specie of the bird constant. Also the cage is very cleverly designed. Ologs entry is very original in its idea of pirates forgetting they already looted a village in a very brutal manner. I also really like his picture quality.
  11. Thanks! It is hard to pick good pictures to show. I wanted to have one overview picture, a picture showing the front of the ship, one showing the back, one pciture of the escape taking place, one of the soldier walking the plank and one reserve picture. I used that for the explosion as it couldn't be 'seen' on any of the other pics. The beach was not something I was really proud of as I really lack tan pieces. All the tan pieces in the beach came from the Harry Potter ship. Next time I build a MOC of which pictures have to be taken I have to think in advance on how to setup everything so that it will be easier to photgraph.
  12. Thanks for the replies! My girlfriend made this entry and she really has a cruel mind Babies always cry when they should be happy and are always happy when they should cry, so the face is ok I think. I guess Jebus smells good. Sorry for the blurry dark pictures but I am just horrible at taking pictures. I was already quite proud the way they turned out
  13. The water effects are especially nice, that must have been a big puzzle to get it looking like a rough sea. It worked out greatly! Awsome MOC, too bad you missed that deadline..
  14. Vig. 45a Lady: Nooooooo not my baby!!!!! Captain: Throw him on the street Jebus, hahaha! Jebus: Arrrrr! Lady: Noooo noooo don't kill my baby, pleaaase! Captain: Don't worry sweetheart, we will make sure you'll get a new baby, won't we Jebus? Jebus: Arrrrr! Grandpa: Aaaaaaah my legs!!!! It hurts!!! Janus: mmmmm, chicken... Grandpa: aaaaahhh ahhhh
  15. Wow, quickly finish it, that building is beautiful! I would love to see some action taking place around it.
  16. Hi, well I wrote a little story to go with it explaining what is happening, but maybe it was not clear enough. It is indeed a pirate ship, but the island is not a pirate island. It is an island owned by a native king. The pirates are allowed to store their treasure on the island in exchange for sacrificing people for that native king (this is where the title comes from). The current batch of people to be sacrified tries to escape (the soldiers). Haha don't worry, this is actually my first MOC since I stopped playing with Lego at the age of 15, so it did take me quite a while. Before i even tried though, i sorted and cleaned all my bricks, otherwise it will be difficul to complete something you start on, as you will always be tempted to use up all the coolest/usefull bricks in the first few things, without noticing they are running out.
  17. Gridded tiles is a nice name for them and aargh yeah I think the picture does not do them justice then. Sand blue would be a good colour , I have not seen that colour before, so that + my terrible eyes would explain Don't worry about the background, the blue with the flowers make it look like springtime air and the carpet can pass as water. A bit more gore would not hurt, but I think that theme of the MOC is more than enough to make it fit in PTV.
  18. Wow, I love the dreamy atmosphere of the town in the first pic, although the saddistic womenfigs (and you have a LOT of them!!!) quickly made me change my mind about the dreamy stuff. I also really like the use of that raised baseplate and the cannon firing effects. I only think those grey modified tilelike bricks would be better in a lighter colour like white. Grey makes the water look so dirty and I think the water would look better clean. I do like the concept of these bricks as tiny waves washing ashore! Very original entry!
  19. Josh, the completed diorama is already posted. If I had more bricks I would have continued on the other side of the ship and build some more sea/cliffs, but this is not the case. And don't be so sure you can't build something like this, just look around on the Eurobricks forum long enough and you will see a lot of interesting techniques or concepts for which are applicable on your own brick collection and thus might give you the drive to try it yourself! Thanks zorro! I think there are a lot of jaw dropping entries too and probably more to come.
  20. I agree with you, the problem is I have no trans-clear bricks. Even with a little blue added in would make it look better, but I ran out of those too, so white was all I could manage I think it is working now. Thanks!
  21. Wow, those are a lot of pirates. I am especially impressed by the sails and rigging of those ships, looks really really REALLY good!
  22. Thanks everyone for the positive comments! I made a brickshelf account and uploaded most of the detailed pictures on a shelf. It is not public yet? So should I just wait for the brickshelf moderators or should I change some settings myself too? Yeah, maybe you are right, I have never really used the flames pieces before for anything else besides torches and dragonbreath, so I am not so experienced in making fire. I am glad you like it, I have no blue piece with a flat surface left anymore...
  23. Fireball This is that fireball, it is Kahuka He is sort of calling his pet using 'magic'. And aaargh the flag oO, please imagine it the other way around, I don't want to retake all the pictures for just the flag
  24. Well I finished my MOC and updated the pictures in the first post. Thank you for all the suggestions. I think I used all of them. I did not put up a picture of the other side of the pirate ship as it exactly the same, so it contains an arm as well If you think other angles for pictures might be better please post your opinion. I made a lot of pictures but couldn't find a way around that 6 picture limit
  25. I am no master pirate builder, however I love that adventure diorama, so I would be extremely curious for a pirate themed one! First thing to do to make it more piraty is add beach, either yelllow or tan. I think beach + blue water + jungle behind the beach already brings you very close to a pirate themed background. I am guessing you are going to base it on the 2009 sets, as you seem crazy about them and are lucky enough to own them, so there won't be a need to add all the indian/native/islander like statues, already reducing your amozonian feel. Things you could add include buried treasures, raft building attempts, pirates stranded, 'sunken' ships, reefy rocks, etc, or you could go more into the PTV direction and go for 'cozy' villages being visited, pirates hanging from gallows etc.. Also swapping the crocodiles for sharks would make it a bit more salt watery.
