It's a bit further out, but if you feel like making a day of it, catch a train to Slough from Paddington, then transfer to the Windsor branch line, and then catch a shuttle bus to Legoland! Although you have to pay to enter, if you spend less than 1/2 hour in the park they'll refund the entrance fee. Or, depending on how much you intend to buy, upgrade to an annual pass. You then will get 10% off the Lego (so if you end up spending c. £800 you basically get the annual pass to legoland for the year "free"). Remember the annual pass is valid for a whole year, and also note that there is an Xmas shopping as well some of the weekends in November. Plus there's Miniland and a brilliant fireworks display in October/November to enjoy too!

Indeed, the crash is most horrendous for Poland. Sadly, for any other country such a loss at the very highest echelons of such a great number of officials has never occurred, so to empathise with your loss at this time is very hard. For reference, my father had the original Lego 12v motor system trains. He is an electrical engineer so when I was a child he electrified the original blue tracks he had, initially soldering copper strips onto the track, later taking the grey 12v tracks and putting copper tape on. At each end was a flat surface, so each track had a copper flap that would tocuh the next track, held in place on white 2 by 8 plates. How this system could be modified for the clip arrangement I'm not sure, but it must be possible. The copper strips can be relied upon to at least give 7/8 years faithful service. The pickups for the motors were modified 2 by 4 bricks, that clipped in the "ledge" under the classic 12v motor, and utilised twisted metal bead paper fasteners! Add a couple of special sleepers that accepted a 12v wire, and a special signal box, and some of the best lego railways I have built were in operation! Excitingly, this was done long before the internet and AFOLs! Sadly though, now I have progressed to real 9v it's hard work setting up all the sleepers and fiddly connections for this modified system as compared ot the ease of 9v tracks, so it hasn't had much of an outing recently.

Paul, are those new trans pink tiles in the leftover ssection, or is it just the lighting and the wood background making those trans red tiles go that colour? I'm pretty certain trans pink cheese and 1 by 1 plates would be new for 2010 if they really are?

I made a very simple "bob-sled" as a child when I was inspired by the winter olympics in (96/ 98?, can't remember), but basically it just consisted of a 4 by 8 wing piece with a 4 by 4 plate behind it, two 1 by 6 bricks and a car visor, with the boat smooth tiles underneath. I made a couple of them and a cardboard chute and by getting the gradient pretty steep you could have some time trials between the teams of two! Sadly my MOC doesn't even begin to compare with the one you reference on Flickr, but it seemed pretty cool to me at the time!

The Brickish Association from time to time hold events, just google them to see the events they've held in the recent past. Usually every October there's STEAM at Swindon, but they haven't got that listed yet on their website. I do hope they do it again as it's such a great event! Occasionally too they come to Legoland and put a small display on for the general public in May time. Hope this helps!

That's awesome! I only have the official maxifig; I called him Bill Ding for my own minor amusement. One ever so subtle tweak on an otherwise perfect moc: the eyes. She really does need the 1 by 1 plates like your other maxifig to finish her off and have her perfect; or was this a deliberate design choice?

Dear All, I've read through the introductory guides and gone through "My Controls", but either Eurobricks has changed or I've knocked some setting, and would appreciate your help! Threads used to display linearly - ie I could see the topic starter and then everyone's comments with their sigfigs and everything appearing below it. However, in the last week it's changed so I can only see a "lugnet" style thread diagram with who's replying to who under the first post in a tree diagram fashion. I much preferred it the old way; therefore is it possible please for me to change this setting back to the old settings, and if so how?

If you're making a MOC, the only way to make "track" with the tiles is to put them sideways in the gap between two studs - so that the 1/3 stud bit is in that gap. Engine and tender are 3 straight tracks long, therefore for the display track you would need 12 1 by 8 tiles, for the carriage too a further 2 straight tracks, so a further four tiles. If you are using htis sideways method, you'd clearly need to leave the two studs either side of the sideways tiles, but the "ballast" could be raised up to that height. Hope this helps.

Dear All, I was one of the very early join ups (I joined about 160, as the creator is a friend of a friend). As far as I'm aware it is legitimate, though you won't get to decide which character you'll be for obvious logistical reasons. Obviously if they need a hand then I'll be there and be able to update you. Please don't be too disappointed though as there's no way you'll actually get to have "your" fig, but hopefully you should (one day) be able to go visit it in an exhibition or something.

Watching that promo is distinctly uninspiring. "hero factory heroes"... I know I'm not the intended age range but that phrase doesn't make sense! I do hope this advert won't be used on TV as it looks very dull and boring, all grey and cold and frankly a dull toy. There's no real evidence of what you'd actually do with it; the adventures you could have? This has the makings of being another Lego Explore moment when this line bombs. Having said that though I thought Power Miners would be distinctly poor sellers but they've sold really well.

May I ask how the skirt was created lisqr? I'm pretty certain that this part hasn't been released (according to Peeron) in black yet? How did you get the cheeses so perfectly downwards without headlight bricks? Even 8058, where the monster comes from, doesn't contain that piece in black! Good work all the same though, and great to see such a fast turnaround for a MOC of the new Atlantis sets. I could never bear to pull a new model to pieces for at least a month post construction!
