  1. I sort my pieces similar to many of the previous posters, according to the Bricklink description and not separated by color (with the exception of bricks of 2 stud width). Its easy to find a white 1x2 brick with grooves in a tray of 1x2 bricks with grooves; not so easy to find a white 1x2 brick with grooves in a tub of white pieces. The problem is that I don't always remember exactly what box contains what piece, especially the ones I don't use very much (hmmm... where did I put those 1 x 2 Modified Plates with Long Stud Receptacle?) So I numbered my boxes and made an index, listing each type of piece alphabetically along with the number of the box the piece is in: I can easily find the piece once I know the number of the tray it is in. For example, in this picture you can see that tray number 305 in the upper left-hand corner contains all spare 1x6 bricks. But just in case you couldn't find a tray, you could consult the following "map" of my storage area showing where the various numbers are located. The location of common classes of pieces is indicated on this chart by shading in regions of the map: Notice how the map corresponds to the actual layout of the storage cabinets: The other thing I do that I haven't seen much of in this thread is to use tackle boxes (which are commonly used in America to hold fishing lures) to store Technic pieces and minifig utensils. Here is my Technic tackle box:
  2. This past summer I visited LEGO stores in Orlando and Chicago, hoping to purchase a large quantity of bricks from the Pick-A-Brick wall. In the past these stores had large green, rectangular tubs which could be filled with bricks for ~ $100. This summer however, I was told that those containers no longer existed and that the only cup sizes for the Pick-A-Brick wall were the two sizes of round cups which sell for $8 and $13 (if I remember correctly). I would like to buy many more bricks than these containers hold, but do not want to fill up several small containers. I hope LEGO stores decide to once again offer considerably larger containers for their Pick-A-Brick walls. If price is the issue, I would gladly pay more than $100 (within reason) for the green tubs.
  3. Hello, I have read the Eurobricks forums for some time but this is my first post. First, thanks to all the posters here. The MOCs posted have given me ideas and the reviews of sets have helped me decide how best to utilize my LEGO budget. Here are some pictures of my town (let's see if I type this code correctly). First, here's a shot looking from the harbor back to the city. At the very bottom there is a coast guard base which is currently in progress; behind that you can see a 6542 and then above the water there is (from left to right) Cafe Corner, Market Street, a yellow building with a FedEx-type store and a tapas bar in it, and a tower which houses a bank. This yellow building is the State House, the building in which the national government meets (obviously, inspired by set # 4554). The red building in the back is the Viking Museum and there is a temporary fire station on the right. Rather than put a bunch of pictures in this post, I'll just give a link to my Brickshelf page which has several more views: My Brickshelf Folder My town will forever be "in progress" so if you have suggestions on how to improve it I'd appreciate hearing them. I have designed (on LDD) an italian restaurant, a sushi bar, a sports bar, a barber shop, a florist shop, a pharmacy, an electronics store, a real estate office and a church but it will take a while to get this stuff built (bricks ain't cheap). I'd love to include my train and/or monorail but I have no room on the table right now.
