  1. Hi, Can I ask if this is one of the smaller, regular Woolworths or one of the larger "Big W" stores? The last small Woolworths I was in a few days ago did have Anakin's preview clone starfighter and a few battle packs but no new "Clone Wars" sets I'm quite keen on getting the fighter tank to go with the Gunship and as yet haven't seen it anywere - Toys R Us didn't seem to have it on Saturday although they had a full complement of everything else. Thanks.
  2. I too spent about 5 hours building it but I'm a lot older and as such have learned to appreciate every brick laid, admired the progress from every angle, made sure the stickers were absolutely perfectly aligned, stretched my legs now and again, answered questions from the missus and just enjoyed the process of building! Speed is not everything! You'll learn that soon enough!
  3. Regarding the spare parts, I also had two extra tiny one x one maroon slopes. Handily enough they work really well when added to the back of the two empty maroon studs at the aft section of the rear cockpit. It makes it more contoured but you may not like the look of it. Worth a try though. The green slopes can also cover two empty studs in the nose but I went for a round light instead.
  4. Well, if it's any help I got the RGS set today from Toys R Us in Scotland for the princely sum of 79.99 pounds which is a quite scary 160 dollars. Now, in terms of the price of some other sets I would say it is worth it although even the checkout assistant remarked upon the extravagant price. I didn't get the first RGS so this was always going to be a big deal for me and I was half expecting the price tag to be 90 pounds, so strangely the 80 quid didn't seem too bad so I ended up getting the Spider droid also for an additional twenty. As the old adage goes... "Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten". Besides, I didn't go to the pub on Friday so no money was wasted there - Hangover and empty wallet is often a source of real regret whereas I will cherish the gunship for a long while. It's such a solid big chunk of a thing and one of the few Lego sets that has a realistic movie scale. It looks expensive just sitting there and has a fair bit of heft to it. . As to the set itself, it was an enjoyable 5 hour build, no fiddly bits to contend with and everything is solid enough. The door opening mechanism is a thing of real beauty and she looks great without the huge stickers. Loads of nice little touches are present: weapon racks, tools compartments and in my set, as seems to be the norm, the two packs of clone accessories. If I was being extra picky, the front cockpit could do with a tiny bit of modding to fit in a joystick but I received an extra antenna / joystick part to stick in the rear cockpit with zero modding required. Yep, lack of minifigs is disappointing as the cockpit and pods seem deserted but the interior space is amazing. You can fit them in all sorts of places other than the main troop hold. Including pilots and gunners a conservative estimate of 14 minifigs could be held. My original plan was to fill it out with Phase II clones and create ROTS Star Corps but these new animated Phase I's seem much nicer in the flesh so roll on the battle packs and heaven help all of us who should succumb to the temptation to fill those cockpits with Phase I pilots from eBay. Must. Stay. Away. So there you have it. 160 dollars and no regrets.
  5. Thanks! Good to start posting. My mind will probably be changed when I get my hands on a new Phase One just for the sheer novelty factor. I just hope the kids don't clear out TRU Edinburgh at midnight!
  6. Hi Pineapple, this is my first post but I'm a lurker, so I hope I am not chastised as part of the "already being discussed" confusion... Anyway, I'm hopefully picking up 7676 tomorrow but I'm equally non-plussed with the minifig count. However, have you considered making a ROTS style gunship instead? That's my plan. I picked up an extra battle pack at the weekend. Have a couple of clone pilots at hand from the ARC-170 ( hey, they aren't movie-accurate but I like those little dudes ), so I'm ready to go. Pros: -Really cheap to fill out the gunship. -You can have "proper" pilots without buying two V-19 Torrents! I'm not sure who I'll have sitting in the wingpods. Probably just regular ROTS clones. Would need to check Episode 2 to find out for sure if pilots were used as gunners. - Yellow Starcorps commander can be kind of made with the skirt and guns from the new Clone Wars accessory packs provided with 7676. - ROTS Gunship doesn't need those nasty big nose stickers. Don't like them at all. They won't be sullying the nose of my 7676. - Personally, I prefer ROTS Phase II clones. Phase I always seem a bit Flash Gordon in their styling to me. Cons: - No sidepods on this new version ( Not a big con for me - seats in the wingpods are enough of a bonus. ) - Sort of defeats the purpose of a new set. I think it will look great when it's all kitted out.
