LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!

I think it depends what you do with them though. I recently did a MOC for a show using Ahsoka's clones not many but the orange accent allowed for some great foliage work tying the figure and plant together. That said I didn't flood my MOC with them, only used around 6 - 8. -

Saw on the official Star Wars Facebook page that they've started producti9n on Starfighter, guess this may take some D23 oxygen. Another movie to speculate sets about. -

I agree, when I think of the last few UCS sets, there are faults with them. Gunship had no Clone pilot, a big misstep. Sail Barge, missed Yakface, would've been perfect for it. Razor crest, no moulded Bluurg. A third X-wing, that has a sensitive nose body construction. I think the Landspeeder and A-Wing have been 2 of my more enjoyable builds recently. -
@A. Skywalker The clips are outliers and I suspect that while some would need sets for characters the volume of pieces and what not are through PaB, figures probably through a number of second hand sellers. Also the EU magazines with the paper bag minifigs appear to be quite handy. YT reviewers aren't the real problem if we're being honest, they have influence but I suspect any company would be able to factor the impact in and perhaps it would only be in the 1-2 % range at all, if it were that high. for the view of those MOCs its worth it.

I've watched some YT clips and seen the socials, same as everyone here and have some thoughts (not too dissimilar to everyone here). Shape: Box - would be an epic fail, possibly the biggest act of self sabotage ever. Slice/section - would be hard to make it work, however it may work, for 9000+ pieces it would need to be the creme de la creme of diorama design (not too sure the current team is capable of it). Sphere - iconic, accurate, just right and plainly the way it should've been. Minifigs: The lack of dual moulded legs on certain characters is appalling for what will be the most expensive set ever. The Hot Tub Stormtrooper is the biggest joke ever, save it for the rebuild the galaxy line or something. This set should've given us all the best versions of each character ever, not the b-list of some. The eyes on Palpatine look awful, just stop doing it... Those imps better have the insignias and cannisters correct... Perhaps take a look at using the elongated legs for Chewie, worth a look and probably puts him at the right scale. When you consider that there are no aliens like The Cantina everything should be the best. Build: Better not include stickers. When you're breaking the bank in what you ask, everything needs to be detailed and technical. Only painted pieces should be included. New moulds - you'd expect a few in a set this size. Techniques - hopefully there are some real doozies. Perhaps Lego doclighting for the first time properly? I just can't fathom the own goal this set would be if the rumours are true. What would be a day 1 purchase for me would be a prime day sale or May the 4th next year at the earliest, irrespective of GWP. With all the points I had, I'll put them to better use elsewhere. I honestly hope that TLG shelve it for 2 years, work on a sphere and do something appropriate for the 50th anniversary, otherwise I think this may be a further nail towards TLG killing this theme. This year has had some of the best sets conceptually but realised so horribly that its starting to take the fun out of the hobby... -

Man, the cost of this set and the lack of details (which are available to them) they should use is infuriating. They should not be charging as much as $1000 for this, I'm not bothered about the number of minfigures they pack in, for that price I'd expect them to be 100% accurate. Hot tub stormie should be an RBG set, that's fun and kitsch, not the most expensive UCS set ever, I think the whole teams lost the plot now. -
I don't think there is enough of a volume to make a big impact on a line's indent, they just have a vocal presence.

Not an apologist for MandR, however when he rolls out the Lego "Only the best is good enough" motto, he's not wrong. I have issues with the clones from the last few years; Fox is horrible on paint apps and accuracy, Bly clearly has accuracy issues, Vaughan was just a tad lazy. Whoever is doing the minfig research clearly isn't doing a great job in the last few years. I know he can go on about it for a while, the kama's should come back, other themes have them and they don't affect the playability of them as a whole, if that were the case, other theme designers wouldn't use them either. The holes are what they are, while I don't get hung up on it personally, I know some builders who aren't fans of the location where a location existed that could've been used instead of the introduction of another point on the P2 helmets.

On the current wave, I know from time to time we get Lego designers on here. I hope they see the feedback and take it on board... Been in this since 99 and personally it is the most disappointing wave I can recall. So much hope, yet so poor execution. -

The incessant need to make Clone battle packs is a little nauseating at the moment, I wish they did a Chima like wave, where we could get a few factions at a good price point. I would love to see a return to the play set scenes, perhaps they should take a leaf out of the Harry Potter approach (number of sets that make up a building/scene). Lego could tap into some of the moments (Genosis Arena, Endor, Mos Eisley, etc...) and sell a few sets for each to build out scenes, it may work for technique and budgets. With the scaling (downsizing) of sets, I'd be somewhat OK with it if we got better minifigures and build techniques than before, unfortunately we don't these days, I fear for an updated AT-AT with the current modus operandi. Minifigs have gotten progressively worse, I think the change to the Clone helmets was an unnecessary change and the lack of fabric for kama's is not really acceptable at current prices, worse when you consider that other sets (looking at you Lisa Simpson) just released and in the recent past are still getting them. I'd happily work with the designers at SW Lego to help bridge the gaps that exist now, which didn't in the past... 😉 -

Hopefully the clones will be done this year for a few. Personally I don't mind the keeping stormtroopers out of this year, save for the rumoured DS UCS. I just wish we had the old stormies back as opposed to the family guy ones in present circulation. -

Happy with the minifigs, but damn. The shrinking of this ship is crazy. The original one is still superior in shape and size IMHO. The engines just look like a hot mess, I heard someone elsewhere describe it as a MOC they would've done because they couldn't afford the original set from back in the day. -

I think we need a Mon minifig. I can understand why we won't get it. On the subject a page or so back about new moulds for mfs, perhaps they are being used in the Death Star set? Although, I'm not too sure what you could do a new mould of... most imp characters would be face and torso prints. -

The order is less important for a pattern in this sense, however over a small sample size (3 years) it remains. The Rex MF was new as TLG were at pains to point out in the UCS Venator set, I digress.
