  1. Ah, tread sprocket! Cheers, couldn't for the life of me think what they where called. Suprisingly hard to search for if you dont have the correct name.
  2. Evening all. Im in the process of spending my hard earned xmas overtime pay, and have decided to venture into the world of caterpillar tracks. But despite easily locating the track sections, Im having problems with the sprockets. My main problem is I do not know what the actual parts are called/numbered to search for them, nor am I entirely sure what is actually available. Could somebody help me on this please? Cheers, J.
  3. One thought Im having is I may ditch the pendular front axles in favour of fixed as im aiming for maximum power/torque and pulling ability.Still 8x8 though.
  4. I have the 8110, and Im always open to ideas
  5. The older style diff carrier is ideal for this, not only does it make the driven/steered pendular axle possible, but using a second one for the second axle also works for the geared reduction of the second axle's steering. The fun part however will be building this setup into my chassis!
  6. @ Matias, thats exactly what im aiming for. Only difference is im looking to have 2 steered axles.
  7. Im working on that one this very moment Should also add that the front axle idea is for a pendular setup.
  8. Evening all. Sorry for the lack of updates on this, have been busy trying out a few things. Firstly, as I mentioned earlier on I am intending to make this a true 8x8. Im pretty sure I have found a way to achieve this, which I am quite pleased about as this is my first attempt at a driven and steered axle this small. Still a work in progress at this stage. Secondly, having discovered my winch too be pretty darn powerful, I came to the conclusion the truck needed some sort of handbrake. At first I was quite happy with a mechanical lever and linkage running along the chassis to the cab, but decided this was a bit crude and bulky. So decided instead to use the pneumatic compressor and a small ram to do the job. The actual brake utilizes one of the gear selector parts onto a fixed gear. Hopefully the pictures will explain things a bit better than I can.
  9. In comparison to their smaller version, they are a much nicer wheel and tyre combo. The tyre material seems a little softer and there is a noticeable difference between where the tyre tread changes to sidewall, as a result they are very life like in appearance. Its just a shame there are not more available. Ive had a few ideas for some builds using them. firstly when paired with a pair of the 62.2 x20s they look too be good for a small urban tractor with non mud tyres. Such as the smaller JCB's and similar.
  10. Just so people don't think Im trolling..
  11. Must admit Im thinking they could easily fund my ever increasing need for more interesting parts too fiddle with. The creative juices are flowing! Possible second set of Unimog wheels, portals and gearbox parts to name a few. Im wondering if instead of trying to sell them myself that it may be worth contacting a few online sellers and seeing if they would interested in some sort of like for like trade.
  12. Well I was planning too build them into something, but Im not sure now.
  13. I think I just had a crisis...
  14. Ah.. That would be why I cant find any more! I feel bad for haggling them down to £7
  15. I recently purchased a small box of Technic bits n bob's from a local carboot sale, amongst the parts is a matching set of 6 wheels. They look exactly the same as the 62.4 x 20s truck wheels, but slightly larger at 68.8 x 24s. Any ideas what they came off of? Cant seem to find them listed anywhere.
  16. Just another inspirational photo, mainly for the wagon/trailer. Have all the parts ready, but need to work the design around the truck to get the steerable axles working nicely. Going for a tow hitch rather than 5th wheel.
  17. Yep, everything runs smoothly and is also geared down drastically ready for another motor to mount above the engine block. So as too rc it But before the rc, I plan to make this 8wd. What I have so far is just something to work from. Generally I always build a basic vehicle and then modify it from there. The ancillary's tower needs some more work aswell. The 2 side plates are mainly for rigidity at the moment, plan to add some more details if possible and find another way to keep it rigid. J
  18. Sorry for the delay on the pictures. Decided to retake the pictures as they all had bad glare from the flash. Must apologise as they are not of the best quality due bad lighting. Anyway's, here are the first few shots.
  19. Hi all This will be my first time posting here, though I have been lurking in the background for a while. Decided it was about time I started sharing some of my creations with you all. I've only my latest too show so far and its still a work in progress. My creation is based on an 8x8 Mercedes Titan heavy haulage unit as pictured below. So far I have the chassis with drive and steering assembled, as well as the separate unit too house items such as fuel tanks, coolant and other such items. Mine however contains 2 M motors,. One for the pneumatic compressor and one too drive a small geared reduction unit for the winch. Will put up my pictures as soon as I work out how too decrease the file size. Was all ready too post.
