  1. Very nice Pedro. The airspeeder at the end is probably the best part of this series (the BARCs are straight out of the CTT, recolors notwithstanding?). The backgrounds are very good, too. In fact, I can't think of anything I'd change. Looking forward to see how this all plays out.
  2. Very nice, I Scream Clone. I love the baby minifigs. Maybe it wasn't the shock of seeing Yoda's face. Maybe it was the babies' massive heads. Anyway, great MOC.
  3. Thanks for the review, Rufus. My opinion still rmains unchanged, though. A good source of parts, but not something I'd want to keep built and sitting on a shelf. I wouldn't mind trying the build once, though.
  4. Nice review, Dr D. Like you, this is a set I bypassed ;when it first came out, but is one that I'll have to add as I complete my collection. While the model certainly looks like Yoda, it just doesn't have that wow factor like the other UCS sets. When I do end up getting it, I'll probably keep it more as a parts pool than anything. But that's just me. It will definitely be one of the last sets I collect.
  5. My son (he's 6 yo) bought this set with some of his Christmas money. I had no input, as I would have talked him out of it. The figure is very poseable, but the plastic feels a little cheaper than a typical Bionicle set. The colors aren't bad, and the second set of arms maks it my favorite of the Ben 10 sets (not that that's saying a lot). My son is happy with the set, and mixes the Ben 10 and Bionicle pieces together in his MOCs. I guess that's what is most important. I certainly will never use my money to buy a Ben 10 set.
  6. Nice review, Palms. I have a special place in my heart for Gahlok. Years ago, my brother-in-law, knowing I liked LEGO, gave me Gahlok as a gift. I didn't care too much about Bionicle at that time, so I wasn't thrilled with it. But I built it, and played with it a little. Then I saw the page where Gahlok balls up, and hangs from the container top. I thought that was pretty cool. Years passed, and now I am trying to collect all of the Bionicle sets. But I stilll have my precious Gahlok, with his rubber band still intact.
  7. I love the scene. Reminds me of my misspent youth, wiling away constant hours with some P&P (pencil and paper) RPGs. Cthulhu is absolutely gorgeous (can you really say that about the mighty ct?). I do agree with SlyOwl that the BURPy parts need some cover on the back end.
  8. I hope not, that would be a pain. You know, I was thinking, have TLG been planning this Star Wars revamp for a while now? It seems odd to me that minifigs have suddenly got pupils and more detail, and lightsabers have possibly been updated, just after the 10th anniversery. Either way, I don't like it. I for one would like to see a new 1 x 3 bar... just not in Star Wars sets. A 3L Bar would prove useful in MOCs.
  9. My son got his in the mail earlier this week. I have to say it's a neat little set. This month's BM magazine even has an alternate build in it (although there is an interference in the magazine instructions; one of the greebs rubs on the tires ). It would have been nice for the instructions to include alternate models, since it is labelled as a Creator set. Then again, the package doesn't say 3 in 1, so I guess I can't complain too much. Thanks for the review, Bricknave.
  10. Jiffy Lube is a chain of oil change stores. It was one of the first such chains, and they also do some other types of routine maintenance (tire rotations, lube jobs, filter changes, etc.) Don't feel like you have to re-design it to let a TF in, I just thought it would be cool. Of course, if you want to, I'd love to see it.
  11. I know that windscreen has been used in a couple Exo-Force sets (Mobile efense Tank and Striking Venom). Not sure about any other sets.
  12. The ones at the hip joints? I wouldn't. I certainly don't think they look out of place, by any means.
  13. Overall I like it. Looks very close to the original design. The engines are very nice. The thing that stands out most for me is the tail fin. Does it have to be 8 plates thick? That just seems to be overkill. If you could cut it down to four plates, I think it would look better. Or maybe I'm just full of crap. The cockpit would look better if it were round, but I haven't a clue how to do it at the moment. Still, a very nice model.
  14. It's an Imperial Jiffy Lube! Excellent MOC, lysander. It might be better if you had some non-stormies doing the actual work, but that might be more from lack of appropriate minifigs, which I can understand. The details are very good. I love the robotic arms and the control station. Is there any possibility for servicing othe TIE craft, like maybe a Fighter or Interceptor (the Defender is a bit big)? That would make it a little more functional. Still, an excellent scene.
  15. While I'd love to see an inverted form of every slope and wedge, the ones a lust for most are the inverted cheese slope (I think everyone wants that one) and an inverted 18 4 x 2 slope. And a Convex cheese slope would rule. Especially with an inverted form.
  16. While the columns are great, I really like the wall. Very clever. I assume this is an Order 66 vig.
  17. We've seen all of August's sets except for three rumored ones (Imperial Shuttle, Cad Bane's Speeder & AT-AT). Out of those sets, I doubt anyone will be surprised at the look of the minifigs from the Galactic Empire era sets. Cad Bane's Speeder, however, might have a minifg that stuns everyone. Might. Check out this thread for potential minifig lists on those sets.
  18. If I knew which minifigs could be chosen ahead of time (and I'm pretty sure this girl knew which figs were lined up there, and each had a unique shape), I'm pretty sure I could do it. Might need a little practice first, though. But would I? Only if the figs weren't mine!
  19. This reminds me of the Assault Gunship from the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games. Perhaps it's the predecessor. At any rate, I really like the engines. Very nice shape. Are the wings articulated, or are they fixed in position?
  20. Can't say I argue with you there. I've only looked at the instructions for the UCS N-1 Fighter, but I thought that there were slight differences between the system build and the UCS build (chrome parts excepted). I could be wrong, it's been a long while. It's not like building the N-1 is going to allow greater detail anyway. The ship is pretty sleek, with little area for greebles to give it that UCSness. Though it was a pretty cheap introduction into the UCS line (wasn't it the least costly of UCS sets?).
  21. Very nice MOD there, Kami. I had to break out my AT-TE for comparison. Blocking the holes really helps out greatly. The interior is very nice, but I don't have the extra clones to fill the newly created space. I might just have to do the exterior mods.
  22. What an excellent definition for what constitutes a UCS model. I'm going to have to save the link to this thread now, for when future UCS discussions break out.
  23. I have to say that I love the doorway. Overall the canteen is very good. The interior walls need a little something. Maybe some light fixtures? It'd be tough to do with the panel pieces, but it should be easy to add a little something to the brick built walls. Didn't you know? 76 means "The Stagger Inn" in Nantooinese.
  24. While both are good, I think there is room for improvement. On the desert base, you definitely need some architectural elements. Something to break up the blockiness. Overall I like the color scheme. Oh, and an overall shot would have helped a lot. With the pictures you've given us, we have to use several photos to piece together what the overall base looks like. The second base looks much better. That landing platform is made of win! I like the colors, but the small portion of yellow on the top level is kind of off-putting to me. It would have been better to carry those yellow stripes all the way around, like you did on the lower level. The lower level has some nice architectural elements, but again the upper levels are very blocky. The bridge across to the landing platform is very nice. And again, an overall photo would have helped. Overall they are pretty good. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
  25. I have to agree with lightningtiger here. Something about that Separatist's Shuttle set is bringing out the best in MOCers. This is another excellent entry into the contest. I love the engines. And the little wings. And the nose. Heck, the entire model is great.
