Has anyone considered taking an image of the printed dish into photoshop, transforming it to the correct shape and size, cutting out all the negative space, and then printing the image on a clear sticker?!?!? I definitely think that starting a new thread for my project would be very valid. First of all I am living in Australia and there are some users who have been put off the project because of where they live, I am showing that you can do the project cheaper even than other users are making it in the States and Europe! Secondly i am going to try techniques, such as the sticker idea I mentioned above, and painting/ dying pieces to save on pieces that are very rare, and ridiculously expensive!! I don't think other forums about bricklinking this set have included things like that. I want people to see that it is very possible that you can make this set with great results and at a reasonable price :D And the whole process so far has been so much fun, I can't help but rave about it!!

Ok so now I am verified, if anyone would like the PDF's of the bricklink orders I used to build a 10179 UCS Falcon you can either PM me or reply to this forum and I can get in contact with you and email them to you :) its great to see others who are keen to tackle this awesome project! It has been soo much fun, and I have only just begun actually physically building the set. Most of the fun so far has been receiving the packages I'm like a kid a christmas hahaha.

Hi, I read this forum about a week ago and it was all the inspiration that I needed to get started on building one myself. So naturally the next night I started out making the orders on bricklink. I decided to purchase all the parts, rather than use existing parts. That night was oh so long and resulted in me staying up until.... 5am :S making all the orders that I would need for all the 5 million (5000+) parts. This was a mission as I was determined to get the ordering finished in one night and some sly people were buying things that were in my shopping cart before I could! Especially on the chrome bricks store!!! I ended up having to go through a checklist the next day to find out which parts I had lost which was a massive task in itself. I live in Australia... So shipping was expensive... Although I am quite proud of being able to buy all the parts- including shipping for: $796.60 AUD (approx 650.00 EUR) which I don't think was too bad!) I found that having two or so predominant large stores is really important in shipping costs as I ended up purchasing 4000 of the parts between two stores, which cost approx $20AUD/kg shipping Total of 28 orders on bricklink. If you like I can email you the 28 orders from the bricklink stores that I purchased the parts from :) Now all that is left is the wait for all the parts to arrive in Australia. The poor postman on the day when they all arrive together.... Hahaha

Hahaha I can see your problem, it work for me because I'm only 21 and single :p although I do agree it was still quite a bit of money, but seeing the prices on eBay around $2500.00 USD making it myself was the only option and the buying do far has been fun. $2500.00 for a Lego set?!?!... I'd be better of buying a small car an putting a millennium falcon sticker on it hahaha. I am considering selling it once I have built it if I feel that I can't live with myself for spending so much on it... But I think il may become attached to it. Hope you get to build one soon :)
