  1. Mine is boring but what the heck... I have a hobby other than Lego (gasp!) and it's making music... Purple Rhapsody is my musical alter-ego under which I fulfilled my lifelong ambition to release an album of music (that was a while ago... I'm working on album #8 now!). But how did I come up with the name Purple Rhapsody for my music...? Well, it's not very exciting either - I'm red/green colour blind and can't easily tell the difference between dark blue and purple but my wife LOVES purple so I thought that having "purple" in the name would be a good thing. But what to pair it with? In all seriousness Purple Turnip was considered but not for long and Purple Rhapsody just seemed to fit the style of my music. Cheers, Terry. PS: If anyone likes instrumental music ranging from solo piano to overblown modern prog rock check out my Purple Rhapsody website, the URL is easy to work out... and everything can be listened to completely free!
  2. Hmm... a large amount of people on this thread are talking about hiding purchases from their female partners but in my case it was my wife that was the AFOL and I was the husband that didn't "get" it, until very recently. Mainly she loves the modular buildings and has them all except Cafe Corner and she's also bought and built the Eiffel Tower. I'm glad to say that she never kept it a secret but I do occasionally come home to sheepish looks, the offer of a cup of tea and some biscuits (how British!), and an apology for being weak/naughty/frivolous when she buys something on impulse. Perhaps there's an equivalently emotionally bribing behaviour for men to be forgiven by their partners? Of course, now that she's converted me into an AFOL too I'm extremely worried about our bank balance - especially as one of our sons loves the architecture models and the other just loves Lego as a whole! Cheers, Terry.
  3. Thanks everyone for the welcome. Do you need to have been here a certain amount of time or have a minimum post count before submitting reviews? I've read a couple of the more recent reviews on the forums and would be happy to do a review of the Piper model. I should really check with Lego to ensure that because as it's such a limited edition that is only given to Inside Tour participants it'll be okay to do a public review of it... Cheers, Terry.
  4. Hi, My name is Terry and I've unexpectedly rediscovered the joy of Lego after accompanying my Lego-mad family on the Inside Tour last week. My wife and 2 sons have lots of models built and proudly displayed and were overjoyed to be going on the Inside Tour - and while on the tour I realised what I'd been missing for the last 35 years since the last model I built (which I can still remember was a helicopter)! So, after a 35 year long dark age I built a really pathetic tree for the Inside Tour building challenge (which the Lego designers on the tour kindly awarded a 'treemendous' award for!), but did get caught up in the joy of building. Since I got home I have built a 'proper' model (just a simple fire engine - model 4208) and I've just received a Millennium Falcon in the post. I'm also planning to build the Piper Aeroplane which I was lucky enough to receive as the limited edition Inside Tour model. So that's my new Lego fixation! A little bit more about me... I'm Scottish by blood but now live in England, I'm forthright and opinionated, and I'm ginger. I work as a computer programmer by day and make music as a hobby by night (my musical alter ego is Purple Rhapsody hence the username). Cheers, Terry.
