  1. Maybe the announcements for the challenges? I think they have some bits in them.
  2. EDIT: Ah beaten to the punch by @Falconer.
  3. I think that's a great way to put it- in Kaliphlin, we have mummies, werewolves and other monsters/fantastical creatures, which, if stereotypically assigned to a guild, would end up in Nocturnus, and I've seen Mitgardian and Avalonian Orcs. GOH gives us the freedom to join a guild we like, and use the minifigures we have, regardless of faction to represent ourselves in that guild. It promotes creativity, and a rich backstory, beyond the "I'm a evil character, thus I must be Nocturnian", or "I'm a knightly warrior elf, thus I must be Avalonian". Having said that, some minifigures do slot into guilds easier than others.
  4. I wouldn't have particularly identified "6" as Mitgardian. It's blue, not green and yellow. Also "2" and "3" I could also see in Kaliphlin, but all the others I guess I agree with.
  5. That's incredible. I like it better than TLG version.
  6. Does anyone know if they're promo-ing them in the uk stores?
  7. That Satyr is awesome. I'm so tempted to make a whole bunch of wizards etc...
  8. Is it, or is that just a placeholder? I thought only promo sets had 5 numbers?
  9. Link to the game on Brickipedia. I dunno if it's legit though, but it appears it'll be released in 2012. It may have come up before...
  10. Fairly sure it's the name of a LEGO game (not video game, board game).
  11. Ah that's so cool. Might just be enough to tempt me away from my current castle obsession. Price dependent...
  12. To be honest, I'm not too bothered about LOTR armies- I've done that to death with Games Workshop's games, but I want the parts for Lego Castle stuff. Less sure about how I'll incorporate the Uruks into it, but I'm working on that :)
  13. Ok, I admit, at the larger end its not so bad, and Helms deep isn't bad for its cost. But, I can remember when I could pick up 6076 Dark Dragons Den (218 pcs) for £19.99 in the uk, whilst the 9471 Uruk hai army has 257 pcs (a difference of 39 pcs) and is £29.99. Although, to be fair, if Dark Dragons den came out now, it would cost nearer £30 anyway, so perhaps my argument is a bit poor. My point is probably moot, as I think the sets are awesome, and I'll probably buy them anyway... I guess I'm just grumbling. As an aside, a lot of my issue has to do with the flesh heads, I like them, and my Star Wars stuff (I don't collect other sci-fi stuff unless its just for parts) wont be without them, but I find it harder to mix them in with my ordinary castle stuff seeing as thats all yellow. Hence, I have to replace the flesh heads with yellow ones to allow them to fit in, or keep it all separate, or put flesh heads on all my castle stuff- something I'm loath to do, as there's a lack of flehies when compared to yellow ones. To be honest, once I get some of the LOTR sets I suspect I'll be won over wholeheartedly. Just my two pence... :) Its also on some of the new City Forest firefighters.
  14. I'll be disappointed if kingdoms does get dumped in favour of just LOTR, I can't afford to sate my castle habit with a licensed theme. I could see them stopping for the rest of this year, but I'd like them to bring it back as a full theme hopefully in 2013. Or maybe a new castle line?
  15. I wish I'd seen them, I missed it. Now I've got to wait. I really want the Uruk hai army, mostly for the rohan figs, well torsos really...
  16. I guess some of the problem with having buildings and castles is, aside from a few random new parts, most people can build them with what they have in their collection- ergo the buildings are more redundant. What people don't have, however, is the minifigures that populate the theme. These are usually new prints and sometimes moulds, hence their appeal.
  17. Uk peeps, the Argos website says the LOTR sets are up for pre-order, with delivery (i.e. release date) of July 21st. Linky
  18. Ah I missed the settlements. How unobservant of me. My thanks for the warning. We are well used to adversity, it breeds toughness. My Mage is an excellent botanist, so we should be fine. I shall begin movement of my artisans and warriors to secure a site, and the women and children shall follow once we determine how safe it is.
  19. I have descried from our current encampment, a mighty mountain peak, south of Qarkyr. Here, if no one has any objections, is where I would like to build Belt Muntanji, or Mountain Town as my warriors eagerly refer to my vision. It appears that there is a mountain pass on the southern flank, and I could help defend this in times of peril. I have had a scribe draw up a map. Yours, as ever, Yoshi. (Excuse the paint skills haha!)
  20. I may have recently joined Kaliphlin, but I shall endeavour to send some of my royal guard, though I can spare few. I shall also send word to my Desert Mummy allies. If they are able, I am sure they will send some chariots. I wish you luck!
  21. "Live with the Drow? They have no honour, they slew my mother and sister!" (Daniel-Wu interjects) "Peace my lord, perhaps not all Drow are as uncouth as those who attacked us? Know thine enemy." OOC: yeah, I was looking at what I had, and Ninjago seemed to constitute a fair amount, so I went from there, as I don't have any of the newer castle stuff at the moment. I tried to cross Japanese influences with those of Arabian persuasion, maybe it worked. I am fond of the privateers- I wanted to create some minifigs with a distinct uniform, but not of the guilds, and I went with black, brown and white. With metallic accents. I'm working on a raiding vessel for them at the moment, and I'll do a vignette to go with it.
  22. Kaliphlinite: "Hey, who goes there?" Stranger: "Ah, my noble Kaliphlinite, allow me to remove my helm, so that you may know my face" "There, my name is Yoshimitsu-San, heir to the Emperor of Nagasui, but you can call me Yoshi. I have no patience for too much formality. The gentleman in the hood is my mage, Daniel-Wu, and the other person is the leader of my mercenary-privateer army, Nodor. We have travelled far to reach these lands, and we seek vengeance. Fear not, the Drow shall suffer our wrath, as they have devastated my homelands, and my Father-Emperor holds them with a rearguard of the Snake Peoples. I believe that more of my warriors follow behind me." "Ah yes, members of my royal guard, note how their uniforms are already in the colours of Kaliphlin!" "These fearsome fellows are mercenary-privateers in my employ." "A Werewolf guards my treasures and a captured Drow." "And last but not least, we have already made some allies- chariot riding desert mummies!" (Sorry for the shoddy pics!)
  23. Can I still join? I've read all 87 pages of this thread, and Kaliphlin Guild has me hooked. I've built my signing and most of his entourage, worked out a backstory, just got to take some photos now. Also, the build in this are Awesome, with a capital 'A'!
  24. But Dooku is already an apprentice to Sidious, or Senator Palpatine at this point. To overthrow the corrupt senate would mean toppling his master- if he meant it, then he would be more of a Sith, as he's trying to get rid of his Master and by extension become the badass Sith Lord himself. If he didn't mean it, then he's simply following his masters orders. I do agree that Dooku seems like more of a humane Sith though, he's more like a duellist than anything else- I always view him as more of a Grey Jedi- I don't think he's really completely gotten rid of his Jedi training.
  25. I like the Mandalorians myself, so I quite like this battle pack. I can understand them not having back printing, they do have jet packs covering their backs after all.
