  1. This is the one thing that shits me (sorry if we're not allowed to swear, please don't ban me) about the CMF's, people (pigs) at the shops who open up packets to try to find the one they want. One time I saw 6 packets opened, it's rude, it's piggish and it's brat behaviour. If I catch them doing it I don't knwo fi I'd be brave enough to stand up to them haha :S but it's a shame, it takes the fun out of the game sorry this happened, that must've cost heaps!
  2. sorry, didn't mean to upset you. Brian May, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Boy George and the Village People
  3. I've not tried Technic yet, but I do have some (15 haha) projects on Cuusoo, is there a thread somewhere on this site where we can submit our cuusoo designs for people to vote for them?
  4. This is why I question if the series was worthy of making overall, the sets are fairly hollow and skimping on a lot, well, seem to be; and I think that's got a lot to do with so many pieces going into making the cars and why I question if the series was worhy of putting into Lego in the first place. With the new Planes TV/DVD Movie being released in the future, we may get more sets, but they will most likely be tied in with that and not the first film like some people like.
  5. Haha, ta, I read much better instructions these days , although I do tend to skip pages or steps and confuse myself haha I'm 15 years, feuerbogen is 20 :) and Thanks! I'm no mathematician either hahah
  6. Yeah, I would love some film 1 sets too! IO guess this is what Cuusoo is for haha Perhaps with the 5 years in between films and the amount of merchandise we got in those years, people just shrugged these off... If anything, they should've done a full Pixar range with a small set and large set from every film, that would allow them 6 Toy Story and 4 Cars - I know I would've loved to have bought Wall-E Lego and Ratatouille as those films are my favourites. Oooh, from Cars 1 I would've loved them to have done the traffic cone motel!
  7. There's a bit toooo much pink for my liking, but there's enough other interesting colours and cool unique pieces that I dig them also haha - Of course the big gripe being the minidolls, but Andrea comes with cool hair that looks good on other minifigs.
  8. I think people might've suffered from a bit of Cars fatigue, like Shrek a year or two earlier, the merchandising reach was phenomenal especially for what many perceive to be Pixars first dud. But since Kids care not about quality of film, it's a surprise to hear Cars didn't sell as well. Add in price factor (across all Cars march) and I'd wager more people would've bought the die-cast toys as opposed to Lego. I think some of the printed pieces are fantastic, especially the bumper bars and as you say, the eyes. I'm yet to make a Moc out of them though as I'm really crappy with Lego (am slowly getting better) I've had a look online for the V8 cafe, a few places are around $100 so will look for something a bit more affordable haha
  9. Holy mother of Lego, am dead jelly haha - We have the Ninjago jet fighter, was $23 at Big W, not sure if that's a good price, but I really like the set myself (plus I'm sure kids would have fun with it) so I felt good about that buy - But the elastic band has mysteriously disappeared from my "box of things to keep safe" (dresses, stickers, string etc) So that's odd, but all the same, EXCELLENT haul! Single parent, watching prices is my day job haha - The City of Atlantis doesn't look as epic as the Portal of Atlantis ($70 also, total bargin for Oz!) but the 5 minifigs are great, plus has some new-for-us pieces so I'm confident this was a good buy also haha No wokkas, I'm only new so haven't learned how to ... 'play the game' yet :) We have the Forbidden Forest, or should I say the Forbidden Tree... It was one of the first sets I bought and because I didn't really know what I was doing with looking for Lego bargins, I think I may have been thoroughly overcharged for it, never mind, it has the Narcissa Malfoy minifig and as soon as I get Quidditch and/or Hogwarts Express then I shall have all 3 Malfoys, woohoo! BUT, Along with my aforementioned purchases, I also bought $24 worth of Series 7 minifigs - in which we got 3 repeats (Hippie, Daredevil and Aztec) but got 2 new ones; the Bride (she's expensive on her own on ebay!) and the Bagpiper (woohoo!) PLUS when I got home, there was 2 more minifigs in the mail from ebay- Ice Skater from series 4 and Han Solo with Hoth hoodie jacket thing (whcih isn't as rare as I hoped haha but was only 99c) OOOH and I also lay-byed the Kingdoms Mill which comes with about 5 minifigs and plenty of animals (we'll have a zoo soon) and that was $78 - which is about $10 more than the USA RRP and has about 630 pieces so I'm deffo pleased witht hat buy, though I would've liked it have been a bit cheaper, but not complaining at a 12c or so a piece ratio. So today, we added 17 more Minifigs to our growing army, should get more in the mail tomorrow... Will have to post a photo of them on here one day :) But YYAAAYYYY lego haul! All I've built so far is the Bakery set, which has an awesome sauce printed piece, will make the rest of them slowly over the next week or so :)
  10. Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a lay by that has about $150 worth of Lego sets! I can't find the lay-by docket but in it is... Superheroes - Catwoman City Cycle $23.84 Friends Andreas Stage - $14.95 - Pet Patrol $14.95 - Outdoor Bakery $8.83 and the one I'm looking forward to; Atalantis - City of Atlantis $70 - marked down from about $110-$120 Does anyone have these sets? I look forward to the 80+ grooved column pieces in the City of Atlantis as that is a lot to have of one brick type. I can get the Catwoman set online for $19.30 with free postage so I'm thinking of cancelling that order and buying it online... hmmm Should I? It'll take about 2 weeks to get here knowing Fishpond... or I can get it for $27 on ebay hahaha - ridiculous but I won't go there, gurlfran... Some of the friends sets I can get online for cheaper but if I worry about that then it will ruin my lego haul tomorrow, decisions decisions! Anyone else doing a Haul this week?
  11. Definitely The Burrow set, followed by Atlantis; Portal of Atlantis which is a fun set, if a little uninspired in design, but comes with come fabulous minifigs, I think there's 7 all up, yeah, 7... of the smaller sets... I think maybe the POTC Fountain of Youth because it comes with the 3 Pirates (and I think a skeleton) as well as some cool transparent blue pieces, and some dark green ooh, and the cool waterfall sheet... it's only a small set but it's cute!
  12. I think I only really want the V8 Cafe, the boat one looks too small for the price but the oil rig looks cool! worthy of our time and money... and since most of the pieces seem to go into the cars, worhty of being interpreted into Lego. :)
  13. Ummm, for me definitely the Harry Potter sets (cue: everyone groans) - But since I'm gay I wasn't to know I was going to be gaining a baby in 2010, so I've missed out on many sets and am only just now trying to buy up all the 2010-2011 waves of HP sets- only 4 more to go! Not including polybags of which I only have and only want one but need Quidditch, Hogwarts Express, Hagrid's Cabin and Hogwarts Castle... Pretty sure that's all I need. I got the Burrow as one of the first sets I bought and I'm really pleased with myself *pats self on back*
  14. Yeah, nah, there's enough Lord fo the Rings, Ninjago and City projects up on Cuusoo that I'm pretty sure it won't be turned down.
  15. Tell me about it, that's why I made this, I hope that some victims will it it and it'll hit them harder than those creeps ever could.
  16. haha much better! Turns out noone is up for the challenge, bugger haha ^_^
  17. We only have two Cars sets- both from Cars 2- one is the Duplo Tow Mater with the target and cannon... and the Big Bentley set- The Big Bentley was bought for $70 in Australia, which is bloody BRILLLLIANT for aussie prices, BUT, are the Cars sets worthy? There are no minifigs, instead they have exquisite printed pieces for the Cars characters, and whilst they're not technically minifigs, I consider them to be so since Children would be moving them around as the Play Feature like they would a MF. The main problem I have with the Car MF's... wait, no, MV's (mini vehicles, sorry if I sotle that off anyone) - The main problem is that they take up so many pieces to make them and I feel that this 700+ Big Bentley could have been ... a bit more... hmm... Well, firstly, they could have put a little more into the actual structure, although, having said that it is really cool- there's a rope/pully for pulling up Tow Mater, a little spy section, a sliding door (I'd been trying to work out how to make a brick-built sliding door and because I'm stupid I hadn't yet figured it out! Turns out there's a plate piece specifically for it, go figure!) Anyways, there's a few features, but the structure itself feels a little... hollow. Like it could've used another wall or two just to close it off a little, but I guess that's not LEGO's deal. But back to the MV's, I did enjoy building them though, it's not so much a complaint as it is a "I would've done it differently" and designed the Cars to be in 5/6 pieces instead. This Big Bentley has around 7 Cars (AWEsome selection including the bloomin' Queen of England! Aww SNAP!) And all I would need to do is get Flo's V8 Cafe and I would be able to get prety much every Cars character in two swoops. Awesome! Some of the other smaller sets though seem to suffer from the amount of pieces used in the MVs, they would be trying to keep the pce count/price down so there's a selection of small sets, but that means that the actual structure is smaller and ultimately doesn't seem worth the price. Anyways, I just wanted to give my thoughts on the Cars range as I'm unsure how excited people are for them. The MV bonnets and boots (trunks for americans) have specially designed pieces to make them look like real Cars, I'm sure Lego enthusiasts wouldn't like that as it's not exactly brick-built, but for people like me who are hopeless with them, it's great! Only thing is I wish they had've printed the mouths on separate bricks which fit in under them, that way they could be used for more MOCs.
  18. haha yeah I wasn't sure, so I put the -ish haha, either way, considering the price for many lego figs/sets, 99c isn't half bad! TBH I'm not even a star wars fan lol *please don't hate me*
  19. I'd be lying if I said the selection of minifigs wasn't an added factor in choosing what set to buy- ie Professor Sprout in the Battle of Hogwarts set, I absolutely adore Miriam Margolyes and her work in and outside of Potter so to me, that minifig is worth $20 more than the others in the set which is what helped me swallow the price I was charged. The amount of minifigs also plays a part, but mostly, I buy large sets for the pieces. With Lego, More is More, I've seen the breath taking MOCs people have made and whilst I don't have enough/right type of pieces yet- the only way to get there is through large sets. So I would say Minifig selection was about 30% of my decision process, along with price-per-piece and brick selection of set.
  20. Recently I bought a rare-ish 2009 Han Solo minifigure, it was only available in one set, and as a Comic-Con exclusive... for cheaper than the price of a Collectible minifigure... http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?M=sw253&in=S bought it 99c plus $1.99postage - aussie prices for CMF's are about $4.75 - did I get a good bargain? Also, since Star Wars sets are expensive, what awesome - and rare- sets have you managed to get for a bargain price??
  21. It's an issue to me for a few reasons; 1. I would much prefer my money go directly to TLG so therefore if the prices at shop@home were cheaper then I would definitely be giving LEGO my money on a weekly basis. Instead of buying on ebay/bricklink 2. The Aussie prices are often 200% the price of US lego- which I understand is for various things, including shipping and handling, but then on the shop@home website they charge an extra $30+ for more shipping and handling! 3. Lego is a luxury item, yes, but it is also educational as well as therapeutic but also highly addictive. Some people will say you can't put a price on education, I say it should be accessible to all. 4. Licensed products make me feel ill- the prices are beyond crass. I aim to pay about 15c a pce for any set, if I get it for cheaper (Ninjago is about 12c) then awesome, I won. 5. I've boght lots of things online but not once have I ever seen prices be changed for different locations, it's always been charged at the exchange rate of the original price- Lego is the first and so far only online-shop that I've seen do this. 6. No matter how many AFOLs there are, Lego is still essentially and technically a kids toy, it is still in the kids section, in the Toys area, and on any given day whilst many adults will stop by and browse- may more kids do. So therefore by default these products are being placed out for children and I'm not comfortable with the idea of deliberately over-charging for a kids toy. 7. Many things in Australia ARE more expensive than our USA or even Asian friends, but we also have many discount outlets, of which Lego there is none- there's not even a Lego shop. I can't help but wonder if they built some Lego brand stores, would the prices be lowered. But I guess, why would they do that when they can charge us 35c per piece, right? I love Lego and will still buy it, but only through cheap places, second hand if I have to- but I would be more much happier feeling more comfortable to give Lego my money directly so they can make more awesome sets.
  22. Eeek, I don't know what I said that makes you think i suggested anything else- I agreed with you that our cities are all coastal (or close enough too) and I didn't state anything as fact, I just questioned if we had more singular highways that connect the cities, I don't drive, I don't know these things about roads :) And ti's true, instead of having to zig zag across 50 cities across the country there's only a limited amount of cities and that's in somewhat of a large circle around the country... you'd think that would be cheaper than 50 cities back and forth, up and down, left/right. Sorry for the confusion :)
