Sweet LEGO Tracks...as a diehard Transformers fan above all else, you did a great take of the Alternator/Binaltech Tracks. However if I could make a suggestion, to complete the look maybe somehow see if you could work in the flame on the hood?

Excellent MOC, IMO we need more MOC High-Rises and Skyscrapers on here! I mean, you can't really have a city without them.
-
It's a good MOC, however it doesn't look anything like the Alliance AAC I know and use quite often in SWBF II. It seems too long and the turret design isn't very accurate. This is just my opinion and it's based on the renderings of the tank from the SWBF II game.

Interesting topic. When I was a kid I remember building a town layout around a rubbermade tub I had filled with water for the floating boats. That was back in the late 80's to early 90's, haven't tried anything like that since as I don't really have the room to do it. But I always thought real water can add realism to a city layout, especially with any waterfront.

Excellent MOC you've built here Teddy! This train station is very well built, one of the better ones I've seen with tons of detail both in the interior and on the exterior. Only thing to complete the MOC, maybe a pic with a train at the station would be neet for comparison. Great job on a great MOC!

Ah the memories, this is one of my favorite City sets of all time and was the perfect set for display. I miss the classic race sets and hope LEGO will bring the style back to the City theme, not to keen on the Ferrari sets we've had lately. Great review legofan!

My last hurrah, Modular City MOCs & WIPs
OptimusPrime12380 replied to OptimusPrime12380's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks for the compliments!!! I Hope to one day resume my dream of building a LEGO City when my finances improve, in the mean time maybe I can round up some pieces to build something for the Community Build. I have a few ideas I had hoped to include in my city that I've never seen done in any LEGO layout, including some reality based buildings that I wanted for an entertainment district, like a Gentleman's Club, Adult Novelty Store, or Casino. Also had thought about a Comic Shop or Country Club/Golf Course. I'm throwing the ideas out there in case anyone else wants to take the idea and run with it. -
B-OM-7A I recently found myself unemployed and having to give up on my plans for building a modular city block, but I wanted to share my MOCs & WIPs with you guys. Unfortunately I've had to start selling a good bit of my collection on bricklink to make ends meet. My MOC/MOD of the Cafe Corner into a 6 story hotel was complete with the 2nd and 6th floors being of my own design and a ton of modding the rest. I was also working on a modular bank building (in light bluish gray) and a modular florist/nursery (in medium blue, dark blue, and tan). Front (Hotel in the center, bank on the left and florist on the right): Rear: Florist/nursery front: Florist/nursery rear w/ greenhouse: The florist building was coming along quite nice, the greenhouse had a detailed interior with plants, flowers, drains, and a hose. Most of the parts for the creation were from the Market Street set, I was bummed when I had to take it apart to complete the Market Street set to list on bricklink. Oh well, I hope to one day pick up building again when I'm in better financial standing, but for now I'm forced to take a break. Hope you guys enjoy the pics.

I'm 29, yes I build lego but don't really "play" with them. I build to display a cool collectible so that's why my standards for UCS are set higher, heck I don't even "play" with my transformers anymore. I set them in a pose on a shelf and that's that. Besides, if I want to collect mini-figure playsets, there's this company called Hasbro that makes some awesome 3 1/2" figures, cool vehicles and playsets.
-
Those are my thoughts exactly, good job on the list ...ashame I didn't think of it first.
-
To be consider a true UCS set for me, it has to be an ULTIMATE COLLECTOR'S model that the mini-figure scale sets just don't offer. Tons of detail on the exterior, doesn't need a fancy interior with play features, focuses on being built to display, and most important comes with the tell-tale UCS plague. With that said, I don't consider the Death Star playset or the Sandcrawler true UCS sets, even though they are pricey they still have playset features that are geared towards kids.

Nice MOC, you certainly have a way with bricks. Your Crusader Fort of Herenbosch is one of the best castle MOCs I've seen. Do you plan to add on to this flatiron style building? IMHO, a city streetscape with more buildings around it would enhance the appeal and detail of this great creation. Keep up the good work.

Cool MOC, it's definitely a start in the right direction. I especially like the baggage compartments/luggage rack, that's a nice touch.

Exclusive Train 10194 Emerald Night (Exclusive 2009)
OptimusPrime12380 replied to der seb's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Not sure what about his post was helpful to me as you suggest. As for the attitude, seems like his post kind of started the whole "attitude" thing and I was just correcting him. So again, no where did I claim that this set is based off a particular locomotive. I did however say it REMINDED me of one I had seen at the Smithsonian and would therefore hope it is legit, being more inclined to purchase it. Also, from what I can tell I do agree that the set is an exact replica of the Flying Scotsman: However to me, the set also somewhat resembles the Ps-4s locomotive seen at the Smithsonian (or can be used to MOC this locomotive for us yanks ):- 559 replies

Exclusive Train 10194 Emerald Night (Exclusive 2009)
OptimusPrime12380 replied to der seb's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I didn't say it was the exact locomotive, if you bothered to read the paragraph above the pic you'd notice I said I hope it's the real deal and would buy it because it REMINDS me of the one I've seen stateside at the Smithsonian. By the way, if you're going to correct people especially when it's absolutely unnecessary, you should start with your own grammer, hello spell checker. It's checking, not cheaking...It's confirm, not con ferm...It's certainly, not certanly... Maybe brits should read a dictionary over a spot of tea as well.- 559 replies

Exclusive Train 10194 Emerald Night (Exclusive 2009)
OptimusPrime12380 replied to der seb's topic in LEGO Train Tech
After reading through the entire thread, I must admit I believe the set to be real. Especially seeing as how LEGO kept 10195 under the tightest lips. If this is indeed the real deal, although I've given up on my dream of building a city/train layout, I'd pick this up because it reminds me of a locomotive on display at the Smithsonian Museum of American History in Washington D.C. Since I only collect UCS sets, I'd love to see these sets before the license runs out. My wish list in order: 1. UCS Imperial Shuttle 2. UCS Slave 1 3. UCS A-Wing 4. UCS TIE Fighter 5. UCS B-Wing Honestly, I'd give just about anything to see a UCS AT-AT for the 30th anniversary of ESB, but I doubt that would happen. A UCS Slave 1 would probably be a better possibility, a UCS AT-AT would be just too expensive for the average collector on a budget especially in these tough economic times.
-
I'm a bit bummed with the Toy Fair news, no new UCS sets?! Major bummer, although as a diehard old school OT fan (it's the Star Wars I grew up on), I might get the AT-OT with Dropship. Though not a Clone Wars fan, it is a pretty nice set. However, I wouldn't call it the "BEST SET EVER"...that title IMHO goes to the UCS Millennium Falcon.
-
Back about a year ago when I first got the set I sold the mini figures for $200ish. But at the time when the set first came out, those were the first fleshie figures for ANH Han Solo, Leia, Luke, and Ben. Those figures have since been released in the mini figure heavy Death Star set. I'd agree with that for my own collection. Personally, I'd rather have one UCS X-Wing for the same price (or less) as it'd cost to have the 3 different smaller versions that's been released to date. So sure at first the UCS sets might be pricey, but the quality of the product and the detail, you can have one "Ultimate" model of each ship/vehicle and be done with it. Besides, UCS sets usually can be found on clearance at LEGO.com. Take the AT-ST and Vader's TIE Advanced, they're on sale right now. I know I'd rather give $50 for the UCS TIE Advanced than $30 for the new mini figure one.
-
See, that's just it. I generally don't consider a set to be UCS if it contains figures or is in LEGO's mini figure scale, lone exception would be the Millennium Falcon. Of course the first thing I did when I received my MF was sell the mini figures on bricklink.
-
I hope we see another OT UCS set in 2009, it's the only line of Star Wars LEGO I collect. As far as I know, 2008 didn't have a UCS release. I'd love to see a UCS Slave 1 or Imperial Shuttle done before the license runs out. Also on the want list of UCS sets would be an A-Wing, B-Wing, or Tie Fighter.

4 or 6 stud wide cars, which do you prefer ???
OptimusPrime12380 replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Town
I agree, I like my cars 4 studs wide compared to the trucks that are 6 studs wide. It makes for more realistic city streets. I've never seen a car as wide as a dump truck before, at least not on the roads around here. :-P
