  14. Due to the fact, that I have learnt and gived soooooo many exams in school about greek fire and her origins (originally is called: "ygro pyr" which means liquid fire.) I must add these about "greek fire" to made proud my teachers who continuously told me to learn this stuff "because its useful knowledge and you ll never know where you are going to need it!" The Roman Empire was divided into two Empires the West Roman Empire and the East Roman Empire. The East Roman Empire was the heir of the east lands of the Roman Empire and has as capital Constantinople (founded around 330 A.D. named by his founder Konstantinos, who was the last Roman Emperor and the first Emperor of East Roman Empire. Due to the fact that the area, where Constantinople is located, was named Byzantium, the new Empire was now called "Romania" or "Byzantine Empire". The greek fire was invented around three hundred years after the foundation of the Byzantine Empire (around 600A.D.) and by that time was referred mostly in the whole world as the Byzantine Empire. Typically Byzantine Empire exists from also around 600A.D.) So, thats why we say that "greek fire" was invented by the Byzantine Empire. here is the link in greek: http://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CE%A5%CE%B3%CF%81%CF%8C_%CF%80%CF%85%CF%81 The recipe was top top top secret, since it was the nuclear weapon of the time. The Emperor with the leader of the Church wanted to convince the people that this was a gift from the Gods in order to protect the Gods blessed Byzantine Empire and the by the grace of God Emperor (theocracy) and the temple of Agia Sofia (of course). Finally "greek fire" is not greek, since Byzantine Empire wasnt a greek empire, but a multinational empire (all the citizens were equal no matter their nationality), which has Orthodox Cristianism as the main religion and the greek language as a official language, which was the most common language of that time in these regions, like english today. (How could a so difficult language to be so popular and widespread I really cannot understand, despite being Greek...) Dont want to be a nerd-spamer, but I think that you may find these info interesting!
  15. "Na kaei, na kaei..." You have chosen to create a building that right now is not inspiring any kind of positive feelings but anger and disappointment for most of the greeks. However, if I could vote, I definetely will give some points for this one. Its really amazing! Now you must create some "euzonous" minifigs!
  16. Count me in for this group! Gi joe and lego were my favorite toys too.. I must admit though that gi joe and other military figures were my favorites with a slight difference... but right now I am looking to save some money to buy some lego castle-kingdoms sets.. I really like these castles and this medieval market village.
  17. Hi Thodori (I guess..) You have right about the name... My full name is Triantafyllos... The reasons for Tria, are obvious I think... I really like my full name, but most of the non-greeks simply cannot say my name... so here I am with Tria! Thanks also for the link! I am quite sure that there are many greeks lego collectors, at least more than the gijoe ones... Gi joe and now lego are sucking my money... Thankfully I am in Germany now and I dont have to pay for them some new, super, double tax in order to save the fortune of our politicians... if you know what I mean... Good to hear from another fellow greek! Thanks! Its true... I found some really interesting threads...
  18. This is really awesome! Suggestion: Since you have the building you can make a diorama of the police forces (MAT) beating the demonstrators, especially old men and women... or you can put a "for sale" label... Seriously, really beautiful! Unfortunately, I cannot vote due to regulations...
  19. I vote for the medieval market village, despite I am in love with the falcon knight of the joust. IMHO the medieval market village is a more complete set.. However, joust x2 looks amazing.
  20. Thanks for the fast answer! Thank you also for introducing me this site! Its amazing! I didnt know that there is such a site! Really awesome! I am going to order some of them today!
  21. thanks neighbor! The site is really great! Lots of interesting posts... Last sunday I ve read so many threads.. I think that now I know something about LEGO and I am not a complete newbie..
  22. I really like the falcon knight. He is an awesome black knight! I want him as a leader of my favorite falcon factions army. Does anyone know if I can buy multiples (x4 or x5 would be great) of him somehow? (Or at least his armor and shield) thanks!
  23. ok thanks for the info! I will put today an order!
  24. I was looking a way to buy oxford block sets in normal prices (not the inflated ebay prices) and I found this topic! not only you help me to buy oxford block sets but also you introduce me also to this great forum, I ve just been registered... THANK YOU! I have only one question, before ordering some sets.. What exactly is EMS shipping? Is Express Mail Service of the normal post office (for example usps) or is it some courier like ups or fedex? I am just asking that, because here in Germany the custom office doesnt leave anything without control and without imposing fee As far as I know, when you use ups or fedex they charge you lots of money in order to complete the procedure, in contrary to the normal post office, which charge very few... thanks!
