TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
Getsome replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hello, I have been collecting 9v trains for a long time now and I have done multiple displays with my local LUG. I finally have the room at my house to make my own display. I have recently started collecting monorail (6399 and have one of each of the accessory track sets), and was wondering if anyone has run monorail above 9v track, and if they have, what they used for their supports to hold the monorail track above the 9v track. The standard height under the supports and elevated station for 6399 are too low, so the station will need to be raised with a minor mod. I am having trouble coming up with a sturdy solution for the supports though, to go around my oval of 9v track, that also looks decent. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.- 578 replies

As I posted before: Description and features of new fan Transportaton set from Toysrus.ca: Chosen by LEGO fans, this transport station is packed with details and a lot of great new vehicles. Catch the tram at the LEGO City station or hop on the city bus to reach your final destination. Buy something at the kiosk while you wait! And help keep the city clean by brushing the garbage with the street sweeper or go cruising in the cool sports car. •Includes 6 minifigures: bus driver, tram driver, bicyclist, shop assistant, garbage truck driver and passenger •City tram features rooms for 6 passengers, driver's seat at both ends, opening doors and is compatible with LEGO train tracks Should be interesting to see how it is compatible with LEGO train tracks. Someone rudely dismissed this as old news, so maybe I should be more specific: and is compatible with LEGO train tracks I would think this would mean it will fit on regular train track. Will be interesting to motorize one.

Just noticed this while looking at the pictures on http://www.spieletest.at/bericht.php?ID=775 , but it looks like 8403 is actually sitting behind the fire helicopter in this picture.

Petition: We want the Pirates Advent Calender in the United States
Getsome replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
Agreed, lets get it avail in North America! X Signed! -
No no, nothing new. It was suggested that I start a new topic for it as it was under the topic for the actual set.

Not even close. I actually had to make some PAB and bricklink orders to complete this. My stock of orange plates just would not cut it for this model. Svelte: The PAB orders for the sidewalk tiles always hurt. I like the look of them though, and how they all fit together.

When I first saw the Garage set, I thought it was severely lacking, and not worth the price. The fantastic tow truck and big red rig, were definitly the highlights of the set for me. When Toys R Us had the set onsale for 25% off, it was impossible to refuse for me so I picked one up. After building it, my initial thoughts of the set lacking were confirmed, so I did one of tow things an AFOL would do: part the set out, or, in my case make your own, better version. I started out by converting the original set to work with the current CC style building theme. Next was to add some features in that you would find in most garages: repair bays, waiting room, storage area and reception / dispatch desk. After it was all done, I liked the color scheme enough that I put together a small gas station. The gas station can work alone, or as part of the garage is it appears in the pics. Have thought about using a curved road plate with the gas station to make it fit into a layout with a small park on the end to finish it off. Anyways, enough jabbering on! Enjoy the pics! I agree with you guys that this set is pretty bad. I picked it up a couple of months ago from TRU 20% off, which still was not a great deal. Once I built the set, decided to do some mods. Here is what I came up with: I know it has grown a lot from the original, but I was able to get all the features it needs. You can see more here and check out the rest of the gallery here

Here is a comparison pic between the 4999 Vesta's set and the 7747 Wind Turbine.
-
I agree, the Vesta's set is much better then this. However, we have to make the best of what is avail to us sometimes unless you want to pony up the 500$ USD + shipping for one. The inside of the tower is empty except a 32 long technic axle. There are also blue 2 x 2 round bricks that the axle goes through for strength. These are attached to 4 x 4 round plates like we have seen in the beach house. I am attempting to motorize mine now and will update with pics when I get finished. It is ok that this is not being indexed, I just noticed that it had not been reviewed so decided to share the set with as many people as I could.

Picked this set up at my local Toys R Us last night for $79.99 CAD. I have done a review of it here. Fantastic set IMO. Enjoy the review!

This set has been avail on S@H in North America for a while now. We also had is avail in cookie tins at Toys R Us in Canada. This set as well as 4992 Fire boat were avail in the tins with very nasty tasting cookies. They went on clearance after xmas for 4$. Hope this helps solve the mystery of this set a little.

I have 2 of this set, and have found it to be a very nice addition to my train collection. It comes with a nice assortment of the plastic track which is supposed to work with the new system, as well as a bunch of train cars that would also work with the new system. The remote is really not that bad, other then the horn which is a little cheesy... If you have 9V track it will run on it as well, so for me it was really a no brainer to buy 1 or 2. You can always convert it to 9V if you wish as well... I would recommend it for sure!

Great! Enter me too!

Thanks! Took about 6 hours to build, but most of that time was just searching for pieces. Helped having my wife build the bottem half too. The sewing machine doesnt really like Lego lol ...

Can't wait for the set to come out! My wife and I built a copy of it using the instructions from Brickshelf. Didnt turn out too bad. Need to get a motor and light set for it. Enjoy! http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=337162

I am in Canada, do I get to enter?

Yeah the colors are a bit off on some of them, but had to do the best with the pieces I had for now... will work on fixing them eventually...

Freddie: - Tks for the criticism, will try to improve on the current designs for sure.... was even thinking of swapping the corners around ( put the 2 yellow/red sections together and the 2 black/grey sections then spruce them up a little...) it has a basic interior:

Alright alright, the post office building is a bank on the grey side. they are actually smoke mirrors as well, not black columns. As for the helicopter, this was my first medivac: but as you can see it was a little big, but too cool to trash.... thanks for all the comments and the great welcome! I had to limit the size of some of the buildings, or else my whole block would be 3 themes..... Trying to get as much variety in so when displayed at shows, gives people lots to look at..... Check out my BS folder to see some of my other creations; http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=217277 I am from the eastcoast and part of NOVALUG....
