REVIEW: 8833 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 8
TrumpetKing replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the review WhiteFang!! I only have the Cowgirl and the Pirate, so as a feel guide are there any rubbery or softer plastic pieces that are of note (Besides the Cowgirl's whip), because I may be getting more soon. Also, is the lower part of the Alien Villainess' cape the standard LEGO cape? EDIT: Oh, and I also know the Conquistador's sword is flexible -
My preeecioussssssss. - Because I posted in the RA about my preeeciousssssss shiny bronze tag being enough of a congrats after Big Cam apologized for not congratulating me on passing my bronze level reviews. Possibly by Big Bad Cam. (Just going by my profile views)

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion
TrumpetKing replied to muscleman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Can anyone tell me what the heck that spongebob thing is, it is seriously freaking me out right now. -
Hello everyone! For my third and final bronze-level review, I will be reviewing 4738 Hagrid's Hut from the Harry Potter line. And let me tell you, this set has quite a few interesting details inside. So, let's get started! Set name and number: 4738 Hagrid's Hut Minifigs: 4 Price: US- $39.99 DE- €49.99 UK- £39.99 AU- $69.99 CA- $54.99 Year: 2010 Theme: Harry Potter Pieces: 442 Here is the box, and if you look closely, you will notice that no one on the picture is happy. Especially Ron, since there is a large spider in front of him. (Box Picture came from Brickipedia.) Instructions The front of the instructions shows the detailed, spooky, box art. I love it, because we don't typically get to see something like this. The back of the instruction shows an advertisement for the LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4 video game. I have the game, so I don't usually pay attention to this when I am going through my instructions. The Minifigs Ah, one of my favorite parts of the reviewing process is the minifigures. Let's start off with the Harry and Ron figs. Here we have Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Ron's smile is a bit too relaxed in my opinion, and Harry looks too cheery. Even with these face blunders, they are both excellent figures. I love the alternate faces! Well, Ron's face that is. Harry looks like someone ate the last doughnut for breakfast, whereas Ron looks frightened to the line of almost wetting his pants! I almost forgot to mention that Ron's hair is definitely fitting for him. However, Harry needs a shorter haircut. This hair is good for the first two movies, though. The boys have back printing as well. It is a nice print, but I am disappointed that it is the exact same. The same statement goes with the front of the torsos {Begin Rant} Next, we have Hermione. The reason Hermione is alienated from the rest is that she isn't all that accurate. The face just seems awkward, and I can't tell if her face is too defined, or under-defined. It does have a sense of maturity, though, and I appreciate that detail. Another thing that irritates me is that Hermione, Ron, and Harry have the exact same torso. I think if they were going for a mature look, they should've at least given her curves. Especially since her Diagon Alley version is the exact same head and face, and has curves. What's even more sad, is that the torso comes from Ginny, who is younger than Hermione! The hair is horridly inaccurate as well, as I have only seen it like that once. Do to her inaccuracy, I shall call her "Clone-mione". {Rant off} She also has a double sided expression. I actually prefer this face, but it just doesn't have that "Hermione" feel to it. However, it is nice to get more female faces that are not happy on one side, and screaming on the other. Hermione, like her two friends, has back printing as well. I am still unhappy with all 3 kids getting the exact same torso, though. Finally, Here is Hagrid. Overall, he is a very well done minifigure, and is amazingly accurate to the films. This is where Hagrid goes downhill. He is very, very happy, which makes me unhappy. This face just looks awkward and weird, as well as unnatural for him. Here is a comparison between Ron and Hagrid. Is anyone else thinking what I am thinking? That Hagrid is way too small? Exactly. However, I am okay with it as I know that LEGO's piece sizes are limited to certain heights. Finally, all of the minifigures have accessories. Hagrid has the umbrella, (which is my favorite), the crossbow, and the lantern. I am not sure why Hagrid has a crossbow, but it is fine with me. More parts!! The trio each gets a wand, which I think ends up being much too long in their hands. LEGO could have at least made a new mold for it, like in the video game. Interesting Parts and Animals First, why don't we start with our interesting parts. Here, we have a printed pumpkin head, a spider eye tile, a key, a plant leaf, an owl, a cauldron, a light brick, and a 2x2 that is twice as tall as normal. All of these pieces are extraordinary, and have many uses. The pumpkin head as a double print as well. Personally, I would love to see this head used in a Headless Horseman minifig. Moving on, let's see the animals. We get a fish, a miniature dragon, two owls, three spiders, and a rat. I mistakenly put the key in this picture as well as the one above, as you'll notice. I love these new owl pieces. Here is a comparison of the new ones with the old ones. The old one is not printed, and is "perched" at a lower angle than the new one. The Build Part One: The Spider The set comes with a spider, named Aragog. On the contrary, though, this spider looks nothing like Aragog. Here he is, the Acromantula. He actually isn't a terrible part of the set despite being nothing like the so called Aragog. I don't mind him, and he is actually kind of cute. Here you can see his shape. His legs use Technic pieces and swords that allow his legs to be posed. For me, his body is way too bulky but is something that I can forgive. The Build: Part Two- Hagrid's Hut (1st half) I am going to be showing what each half of the building looks like as a whole, so I am going to start off with the light brick section. Here, you can see that the light brick is in the middle of the sculpture. It works by pressing the red Technic bricks inward, which will cause it to light up. Below is the light brick function. I know the lighting isn't that dark, but the light doesn't get much brighter than that anyways. So, there it is, the light brick function. It isn't that bright, and it is a yellow color, which is unusual for flames, but it still is an interesting function. Here, you can see most of the inside of the first half. The only thing that isn't really visible is the swivel part that moves the cauldron. You also can't see the potion bottles, but there will be a close-up of those next. I don't remember there being steps on the inside, but it still looks good. Here, we have the potion bottles. These have got to be one of my favorite details in the entire set. It just adds to the homely feel of Hagrid's Hut, and adds to the entire experience. Here is the outer view of the set, and it really does come along in the entire set. It really is beginning to look like Hagrid's Hut, and I can't believe how realistic it looks. The Build: Part Two- Hagrid's Hut (2nd half) In the second half, there are three details that I would like to point out. I really like this picture frame. Unfortunately, it is a sticker. It is a very cute little detail, and I appreciate that it was put in the set. Here is another one of my favorite details. The table is quite basic, but it adds to the homeliness of the house. Here is the third and final detail that I loved. Hagrid is hiding the Sorcerer's stone in a desk, and it really is a cute thing. The stone is a diamond, which is fairly accurate, so I am fine with it. He also has Dumbledore's letter sitting inside of his desk. Hagrid may have to bend down quite a ways to grab it though, so he may have Clone-mione take it for him. The only flaw here is that the envelope falls out of it's slot extremely easily. Here is he outer view of the second half. It will connect with the other half via hinge bricks. You may notice that I forgot a slightly major part of this build. I noticed it right after I uploaded and edited all of my pictures. Anyways, our door is on after the build is complete, so don't worry. I like the mushroom details on the outside of the hut. Here we have our inside view of Hagrid's Hut. Hagrid has placed a vicious owl on the desk to guard the Philosopher's Stone. It is hard to see behind Mr. Guard Owl, but there is a plant jar behind the desk. overall, it looks pretty good. The Build Part 3- The Roof Next, we connect the two halves, and begin the roof. I love the sand-green parts, mostly because I don't have many, but also because it fits with the color scheme. You may also notice that there are miscellaneous items hanging from the ceiling. They are a fish, a drumstick, a spare key, and an axe. I can just imagine some of Hagrid's mottos: Who needs traps when you can let miscellaneous weapons and food drop on a burglar's head?, or even Hagrid's Hut, the place where you are probably too short to reach the food. We have also added clip pieces so we can add the rest of the roof. Also, as you can see in my "Fun Stuff section at the end, there isn't a lot of room inside the house, and it can barely fit everyone inside. Here is the one of the main roofs. The build becomes slightly repetitive here, but not enough to leave someone entirely frustrated. These clip on to the rest of the roof as shown below, and will complete the build. Build Complete, View of Each Side Here is the first and front view. You can see the Technic brick, but it isn't very overwhelming. I like this view, it is very ca, and relaxing. This view is just horrible! I can't look over it at all! You can see where everything comes together, but it just looks disgusting! Eugh, let's move on please. Ahh, that's more like it. This is my favorite view, because you can't see the light brick extension. Everything looks so peaceful. Except for the pumpkin heads. Finally, the rear view. Overall, there is a door and some mushrooms. I do like this side, because it seems realistic. Nobody really looks at backyards, so they tend to be kind of messy, and this backyard says "Hagrid" all over it. Build Complete, Interior Here is the complete set opened. There isn't a whole lot of floor space, which lessens the playability factor, so I am a bit disappointed with that. This is the left side of the building. The thing that really aggravates me here is that when the cauldron isn't being used, it blocks the doorway! How do Harry and his friends get inside?! I do suppose that there is a back door, but that would be almost sneaking in. The one thing on this side that I truly enjoy is the potion bottles up on the shelf. Here is a view of the fireplace, as well as the hinge that moves the cauldron. I have found that the block that supports the swinging hinge gets loose very easily, and when it falls out, it is very tricky to put back in due to the lack of space inside. Little things like that have effected my scoring of the set. The inside of the fireplace is two "flames" in a translucent orange CMF Series 4 Musketeer plume, as well as a few studs in orange. I would have preferred LEGO to have included more of the flames, despite the fact that they are not realistic, and do not look like flames. Finally, we have the view of the right side of the hut. I prefer this side more, as it has a lot more detail. I can't say anything negative about this side at all! It blends together so well, and it is very believable as a home! The Verdict: Price: 8/10- It isn't a super amazing price, but I am happy to get the amount of pieces that there are. Minifigs: 5/10- The best of them is Ron. The Major flaws include Hermione and Hagrid, but Hagrid is enough to overlook. Hermione isn't. Build: 9/10- There was only one bit of repetitiveness. Everything else was fantastic and new. Parts: 7/10- There was nothing new except for the owls. A lot of the parts are interesting though, so the set does deserve a "7" Playability: 10/10- LEGO did a fantastic job with this set playability wise. They mixed parts from different movies that allow you to reenact several of the movies or books. Overall: 39/50- That really makes me realize that this set is almost a hit and a miss on LEGO's part. It isn't terrible, but it isn't good either. Thanks for reading my review everyone! TrumpetKing67 Fun Stuff Clone-mione: "Let us in Hagrid, we know you are in there! We have a spare key, and we aren't afraid to use it! Oh my!" Hagrid: "I shaved my entire head! How does it look?!" Harry: "Horrible!" Why would you do such a thing?!" Ron: I think I might throw up slugs........ Ron: "Whew, it was just a nightmare. I don't think I can sleep again. Yesterday I had a dream that Bellatrix asked me to Wizard Prom."

I accidentally typed in the wrong title. can a mod please change it to REVIEW: 7049 Alien Striker?

Welcome everyone! For my next review, will you kindly sit still for a moment. Checking settings....... OK, may I kindly present to you: That's right, and I have a lot to show you today. Set Name and Number: 7049 Alien Striker Theme: Alien Conquest Pieces: 42 Year: 2011 Minifigures: 2 MSRP: US $4.99 DE €3.99 UK £3.49 AU $6.00 Alright, let's get started! Box Pic Thanks to Bricklink for supplying this awesome picture of the box. You get some pretty high action here. An Alien Defense Unit character is fighting some Alien pilot. The Minifigs Here we have our real life figs. Each one still looks pretty cool, and I love that space helmet. The alien isn't really my favorite detail-wise, but it will work. The ADU service worker has a scared face as well. Only back printing on the ADU guy! Why Lego, why!? The alien would have been much better with back printing on him, so that will effect the finalized score. One of the best parts of this set is the gun! Ahh.. the detail makes me go crazy! As does the helmet! Below is a back view as well. The back view of the helmet is spectacular as well, with so much detail. Here is a side view of the helmet, and I think it looks cool as well. Once again, detail definitely comes into play here. This ADU guy looks pretty bold doesn't he? I love this expression, and his scared face can be viewed below. The poor guy looks like he just saw an alien..... The instructions and build Here are the front and inside of the instructions, there is a nice action shot on the front, and a cool checklist for all of the sets. The first steps are always the minifigures, so let us look at the first step. It is pretty easy to differentiate colors and pieces. The Build Steps 1 and 2. Here the build just starts with a simple three bricks Step 3. Here the lime green pieces are covered by pieces used to hold the purple studs and a translucent yellow cone. Step 4. Note that there are two pieces preparing for a SNOT technique. Step 5. Here you can see that the build has really began to take place. We have added purple studs Oh, and trans-blue studs too. Step 6. More purple studs!!!!! Step 7. Now we add the trans-yellow cones. Step 8. Next we add some grey clips, that aren't really used for anything in the build. Step 9. Next, we add lime-green tiles, with one stud to hold the joysticks. Step 10. We now add two slanted gutter pieces. The build is really coming along. Step 11. More lime-green, and we begin our SNOT techniques, and add the driving joysticks. Step 12. The build is now finished. It is very marvelous all together. Here is a view with the alien inside of it. He looks comfortable, and with a stylish ride like that, he is sure to win over some people's hearts. I'm pretty convinced with him. Finally, here are views of the alien sitting on the ship (side and back views), and next to the ship. The side view is interesting, as you can see how the space ship looks at an angle in which you can't see the alien's feet. Overall, because of that, it is my favorite view. I think the back view is cool. There is a scaled picture of the alien. Notice the clips. While I am not sure what they are for, I believe that they could be used as a weapon holder. Also, I love the detail of the blue exhaust. It adds to the detail, which raises the score of the set. Doesn't the alien look so happy next to his high tech spaceship? With the joysticks, it is almost half his height! The Verdict: Parts: 9/10- Sure, they might not be exciting, but we do get a cool new gun, helmet, and alien head, plus purple studs!!!!!!!!! Minifigs: 9/10- The alien is a bit strange head-wise, and he doesn't have back printing, but our ADU specialist makes up for that! Price: 8/10- We are getting a good amount of pieces for a five dollar set, so even though it isn't an amazing deal, it is pretty good. Playability: 8/10- There aren't a lot of ideas that someone can use with this set,(other than an alien invasion) unless you have other sets from the theme. But since there are a lot of other alien themes, I guess you could mix them. Build: 6/10- There honestly wasn't anything that exciting besides the SNOT technique, so it gets a 6. Overall:40/50 Not bad for a small set, it couldv'e been a bit better, but overall, I'm impressed. Fun Stuff "I wouldn't call that inner beauty......." "Shut up and marry me you puny earthling! You proposed and I said yes!" "But that was when you had a human face, and I didn't know that you were an alien!"

Hello everyone! For my first review, I will review set 8805 Collectible Minifigures Series 5. Set Number and Name: 8805 Collectible Minifigures Series 5 Theme: Collectible Minifigures Year: 2011 Pieces: 105 for each figure counted once Minifigs: 16 Price: $2.99 USD, $1.92 GBP, $3.05 CAD, $2.99 AUD, $2.35 EUR I now bring you all the packet view for the Series. The packets are opaque, light blue, and must be identified by feel method or bump codes on the back. The checklist is also light blue, and the order I will review the minifigs will be in pamphlet order. Here is the reverse view of the pamphlet. 1. The Graduate The Graduate here seems really excited to finally recieve his diploma. I mean, he has gone through twelve grueling years of school. The disappointing thing is, I had to go to a store that labels the packets to get him, then, when I went to Toys' R' Us, I found hundreds of him! Piece Assortment Here are all of of the pieces together. Note that the hat is new. 2. The Gladiator The Gladiator is wearing a brand-new exclusive helmet, which is an amazing piece, as well as his new sword. He also has side printing on the arms and legs, shown below. Here is the back of the helmet as well. Piece Assortment Here you can see the face more clearly. The shield is bland but still usable. 3. The Royal Guard This stern guard is surely going to make you think twice about messing with him. I believe that he is very close to the real-life guard, so I am excited to have this figure. Piece Assortment Here, you can see that the chinstrap goes to the top of the head, and a clearer view of his hat. 4. The Ice Fisherman Here is the freezing man himself, but he is definitely excited for his amazing catch of the day. He definitely shows what I imagine when I think of an Eskimo. He even comes with a new hood that will be used in the 2012 Star Wars Advent Calendar. Piece Assortment There is nothing terribly exciting here. Just a better look at his parka hood. 5. The Cavewoman This Cavewoman was all I was raving about when I first saw this series. Unfortunately, then, I didn't have her companion. Now I do, and they look gorgeous together. Piece Assortment Here, you can see her expression is saying "Really? Was that necessary, honey?" Her hair is new, and is a rubber, soft plastic piece. Below is a side view, and a back view to show her back printing, and the side of her hair and legs. "I love you honey" 6. The Lizard Man Grrrrr! This menacing monster is going to eat you! Or at least that's what he says at birthday parties. All jokes aside, this adorable minifigure is definitely a fan favorite. He is a great fig to own. Piece Assortment The mask and tail are new pieces, and I love how happy he is to be in the suit. Below are side and back views of the tail. 7. The Zookeeper This kind woman is making sure that all of the animals in her zoo are all right. Piece Assortment There is nothing too exciting, just a recolored ponytail, and interesting prints. The banana is always good to have, and the monkey is amazing. Below is the zookeeper without the monkey, and a view of the monkey. She even has a "zoo" badge on her left shoulder. 8. The Lumberjack Doesn't this kind lumberjack look so excited? Well, he is about to cut down his biggest tree yet. Piece Assortment Here, you can see his stubbled face, and notice that he comes with an axe. Below is a picture of his axe, side, back, and a picture with a shadowy face, but is meant to show a clearer torso. The Axe Side View Back View Torso Shot 9. The Small Clown This Small Clown is a great companion for the S1 Clown. He looks more like a circus clown than the first clown, which is good, because I think that the first clown looks like a balloon-animal making clown. Piece Assortment The small clown comes with a new pie and a bowler hat. He also has green "kid legs" to make him short. 10. The Fitness Instructor When I first saw this figure, I thought that she was slightly creepy. I felt ashamed when I had to buy a second one because the first one had a lot of printing problems. Piece Asortment I don't have much use for this minifigure, and it seems almost like a filler. It is a let-down in my opinion, but she can be used for some interesting pictures as shown closer to the end. 11. The Detective Overall, I am slightly disappointed with this figure. I would have liked a little extra printing on him, but he is all right. Besides that, he looks like he is ready to solve any case thrown at him. Piece Assortment He has sideburns going all the way to the top of his head, and his magnifying glass isn't new, but still is useful. 12. The Evil Dwarf This Evil Dwarf looks like he is ready for battle. He is fully equipped, and his lengthy beard makes everything more evil. Piece Assortment There are a lot of pieces in this one. They are all new to me, but the beard and the axe pieces. I would've preferred a new double axe piece, because this one looks uneven. Here is a look at his torso. 13. The Boxer This Boxer is ready to knock the stuffing out of you! He is a great figure, and I bet most people love him, too. Piece Assortment Here are the Boxer's pieces; he has a new sparring helmet. The gloves are their own pieces, as well. Below is his dual expression, which is in case his match isn't so successful. Dual Expression 14. The Egyptian Queen This Egyptian beauty is a must-have for all minifigure collectors to own. She has a variety of new pieces and detail. Piece Assortment Her hairpiece is new, and she has a brand-new dress slope. She also comes with a snake, which I don't have many of, so that is welcomed. 15. The Gangster This minifigure is dangerous during the night. He is also full of detail, especially on the face, with some new parts here and there. Piece Assortment His violin case is new, and his prints are highly detailed. Other than that, I don't have much to say about him. 16. The Snowboarder Guy This Snowboarder highly compliments the Series 3 one, and is a great figure to own. Piece Assorthent There aren't any new pieces, but all of the brand new prints are welcomed. The Snowboard on its own The Verdict Design: "A" There are plenty of new designs, and they are great, too. Playability: "B" If you don't have a set to go with it, or a corresponding minifig, it may be hard to play with. Price: "A" The price is cheaper than the BAM at the LEGO store, so I am fine with it. Overall: "A" This is an excellent set for a cheap budget, and I reccommend it to anyone and everyone. Final Grade: The majority of my verdict Gives this set an "A" grade. "The Figgy Awards" Jessica: "Hello, I am Jessica Furnish, and this is Brad Roces, and welcome to the first ever 'Figgy Awards'!" Brad: " Thanks, Jessica, let's start off with Most Detailed J: "And the nominees are: The Cavewoman, The Lumberjack, The Evil Dwarf, and the Gladiator! Vote now! Next, Best Dressed Female. The nominees are: The Cavewoman and the Egyptian Queen!" Leslie(The Fitness Dancer):"How come we aren't nominees?! J: "Oh, puh-lease, you call that stylish?! Get out of here!" L:"Never!" B: "While they are fighting, let's meet our nominees for Best Dressed Male!" "It's the Small Clown and the Snowboarder Guy! And finally, the Best new Headgear section. the nominees involve all new head gears, except for two. With honorable mentions, the Detective's cap, and the Royal Guard's helmet! J:"And This concludes the first-ever Figgy awards! We'll see you next time!"

Pun intended? Sorry I just had to -
Very good pictures!! Did you change the hands on Ollivander? I believe the set accidentally came with a darker pigment hand piece on him.

Wow, that last picture is hilariously depressing (skater hair on the rocker girl, and the rocker boy's hair looks like it was originally magenta and was painted poorly.

Celebrating the Reviewers Academy's Fourth Anniversary!
TrumpetKing replied to JimBee's topic in Forum Information and Help
Happy birthday RA! I'm happy to share this experience as hopefully I will have a shiny bronze tag soon! But an even bigger thanks to the teachers for making this entire Academy work in the first place, and I am looking forward to continuing on to learning the ways of the teachers! You teachers really know how to teach, and are some of the best people I have ever "met" to be donating your time to everyone to make them better at a difficult skill! -
I'm torn between a few Friends sets. I really want the beauty shop, the cafè or the dog show. Beauty shop- A great set, I'm not sure If I can say anything bad about it! Café- I really love this set, I'm just not sure f it is worth $30. Dog show- I haven't actually seen it, I just know it has one figure, and while I want two, I want this for reviewing purposes, as no review has been made. Anyways, post your thoughts, and they will be highly valued.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
TrumpetKing replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I finally found these a Fred Meyer (the one closest to Bothell) today. I haven't gotten a box yet, (if I even do) so I picked out two randoms and ended up with the pirate and the cowgirl. I'm impressed by the pirate, however I am a bit underwhelmed with the cowgirl, who was initially my favorite. Also, is the Alien's cape two seperate pieces? At first I thought that the checklists were printed wrng, but I am beginning to rethink that. -

Whuch state? ( please say Washington, please say Washington) -
I think it is very well done, but I personally would prefer technic hole pieces at the bottom so that they can all connect. Thatbis jut my two cent though.

I really like these sets, but I wish the zombie had been the exact same as the one from S1 with the same accessories as well. I don't mind it as much with the band as it helps them fit in together as a whole, and I just already have those figures. What the hreck is under that rocker's mohawk?! There appears to be something underneath it.. I really like these sets, but I wish the zombie had been the exact same as the one from S1 with the same accessories as well. My TRU doesn't have them yet.
