Quest Title: Bad Hair Day Quest Master: Sloop Assignment: You have certainly heard of the famous clothing line of the sorceress Fason Ista, and how at one time nobles and courtiers would not wear anything but the latest in Ista fashion. This has all changed in the past year when my employer (for in truth I am this witch's unfortunate assistant) suddenly when raving mad! My place of work has become a magical house of horrors and I even fear for my life. That is not the whole of the problem, but I want to tell you the rest when you arrive as it is a personal issue. - Silas Longbottom Party Requirements: I want four inexperienced heroes (Preferably with a level less than 5 and certainly not more than 7 or 8) as the more famous ones are likely on more important business. I have no problems with any of the professions usually present in Heroica, and your reputation with the families doesn't effect me either. Reward: 100 Gold each and one bonus level of XP. Length: Short to Moderate.

Helm laughed at the antics of the other heroes. He nodded at Alf, "I was going to invite you to resume that game of chess we were having, but it seems you are a little occupied."
-
Helm sneered. "Oh, good idea. Lets ask an unnaturally born creature that hates the living who killed it. Do you really expect it to be all sunshine and roses and be helpful enough to actually say who murdered it. A bitter and cruel creature will do bitter and cruel things. It would be as likely to say the name of innocent parties as those of their real killer. And as for venturing into the realms of magic, you really think it would be wise to give a slavering beast magical powers? You are an idiot."
-
Helm stepped out of the corner where he had been descreetly listening to the conversation. "Things that are or were dead should be left dead. The past is past, those that like to literally dig it up and breath fresh breath into it are ignorant or arrogant fools that usually end up being destroyed by their own works. Orcs are sentient being that are born and die just like us, but undead are not natural creatures and should not be treated as such. If I ever see an necromancer I will first bury my sword in its neck and stop to ask whether he might have been a good and noble person later."

I'll currently working on a quest idea that will be specifically for level 1-5 heroes (not only because that is the biggest need but because it makes it easier for me to stat enemies ). I will probably be sending you a PM about it later this week unless my college work gets out of hand.

I could have my character drop the f-word in every post and we could see how many people complain about that as apposed to one post with nudity in it. I have read most of them. When I was chosen for BrickDoctor's quest I read all of his older quests and all of the current one. I'll probably do the same for any quest I am chosen on.

Helm returns to the hall and signs up for Quests #33 and #34.

"Actually, I have not heard of this Wren, I only arrived a few weeks ago, and much of that time was spent defending a lion knight fortress. That is an odd name, 'Wren', I would have remembered it. Is she one of those...shapeshifters? That might explain your difficulty in find her, though a hunter like yourself should still be able to follow the tracks, unless she turned into a literal Wren and flew away. Witches have the annoying habit of doing uncanny things like that. Actually, mages in general are annoying lots." Helm took a glance in Arthur's direction as he said this, and he suddenly realized that Arthur did indeed remind him of a fluttering bird like a wren. He chuckled softly. "As for myself, I don't like to self-inflate. My name is Helm, and I am a simple barbarian, with the aspirations of becoming a noble hunter like yourself."
-
From what he had heard of the conversation, Helm could tell he would like the frank Troll. He went over and bowed slightly. "Helm Delvergrow, at your service. I believe I heard someone say you were a hunter." Helm paused for a moment and gives Skrall an odd look, "How has the prey been recently?"

When I was deciding what Helm's appearance would be, I tried to capture a combination of the standard 'mead and axes' barbarian look with something that would be able to grow into a Van Helsing/Vayne inspired hunter later on. I went with the face, since although it was fairly commonly used, was the only real head I had that looked both barbarian and moody. And then the hair (Ah yes, the hair!), well, I had to put oblique humor in there somehow. As for personality, I think I drew equal parts of his speech patterns from Tolkien and Haggard's ceremonial-zulu ('We are men, thou and I.'). When I was trying to figure out what advanced class my character was going to be, my first choice was Raider, with a sort of homeric barbarian flair. Then I went on to Berserker, with a full helmet with a sort of 'Man in the Iron Mask' effect. Deciding that was stupid, I finally went with Hunter. As Legolas-style hunters are overdone, I went for a darker style vampire hunter, which I don't think many people with do.

"You are a mighty warrior yourself. A wise and powerful barbarian warrior such as yourself could cause much good...or evil. There are many paths a skilled warrior like yourself could take, have you thought about which you might take. Something tells me you are close to making that decision..." "As for me..." Helm seemed to be lost in thought as he mulled carefully over his words. Finally he continued, "This world is...blighted. Evil lurks in every shadow. Vampires, werewolves, undead, and those nameless things that crawl out of the void, all of these are growing stronger. And that list but scratches the surface. As you and I have seen, the so called civilized races are too concerned with fighting among themselves to do anything decisive about these problems. All too often it falls to those labeled uncouth and untamed, those like you and I, to be the final line of defense against the encroaching darkness. At one time I thought I would be the leader of my people. However, my heart does not call me to that path. To stride the earth and to bring fear to the nightmares, that is what gives me joy. To keep the weak safe from that which would rip them from their beds and devour them is what is most noble. There may not be riches, nor glory in this path, but it will likely be the one I choose. Of course, I have a long dark road to travel before I am ready to take on the mantle of Hunter."

Noticing his fellow barbarian, Helm slowly walks toward him and then nods a greeting.
-
Noticing a large group of heroes talking together, Helm wanders up and stands slightly out of the group, listening to their conversation.

After sleeping rather uncomfortably in the corner (for some reason a guard had woke him up in the middle of the night asking him if he was a homeless bum, he had left after Helm drew his sword), Helm gets up and stretches. Wondering why passersby are giving him strange looks for shaving with his sword, he ran up the stairs to the saloon and orders his morning ale.
