  1. There is no reason for the box to be anything, or gravity of anything to come into play. Its a picture, superimposed on a cardboard box, it's just artwork, there is no theorycrafting or overthinking to be done.
  2. I genuinely cannot understand the level of negativity here. I suppose everybody is merely stating their opinion, but it comes off as sweeping condemnations. No amount of acronyms, matters, and in reality, there should be no such divisive ideas as AFOL or any such thing. Lego makes great products, and as a company has an a mazing record and standing both in its local and international community, and in the business world. They can be enjoyed by a wide variety of peoples, and the products are for us all, you should not feel slighted, or relegated to a specific demographic based on your perception of a model. That being said, I hope someday, despite the freedom the interent, and forums allow, every naysayer takes a moment to breathe, and realize that the model is MADE out of LEGOS. You can change anything you do not like about it. And so if the worst thing about it is that it costs too much, then you can Download the instructions for free from Lego, and build your own. If you do not mind the price, and dont like the parts, you can substitute your own. You can use it as a guideline for a great creation of your own. Expressing yourself here is one thing, but this all reeks of vitriolic exaggerations, and really detracts from any sort of productive, sensible discussion. Any employee of Lego, or outsider reading this, could not help but to be left with the impression that Lego fans here are never satisfied, constantly disappointed, unable or unwilling to compromise, and for some reason still buying Legos, like some sort of addict in denial. Is this how you mean to portray yourselves?
  3. At that time in particular, the weight of the model is likely supported by the stand, and the long wing has no axis upon which to bend. You are likely perceiving an optical illusion or distortion based on the size and shape of the model in regards to its angle and placement, and possibly due to the darker, recessed dividing section of the wing being located in the middle, thus suggesting an axis, interrupting what is in reality a straight line. Furthermore, the video itself, and even HD pictures can be misleading, insofar as accurate assessment of any actual existing bending. Ultimately, it's unclear if the wing is bending at all so far, and it's also worth mentioning that a certain amount of frame flex is A.) to be expected and B.) able to be rectified, via the very medium out of which the model is composed.
  4. Droid position hasn't bothered me in a set yet either, seems pretty obvious given the shape of the fig, why they continue to do it =) That said, I've been more upset/concerned with trying to mod the rubber bands / wings into something with out bands, or just more stable. Bands pull bricks apart slowly. =(
  5. The thing is, you're not "paying so much" for something tailored to your liking, there are no guidelines or expectations other than those you perceive. So if it was 5,000 dollars, that still doesn't demand a rounded head, or motorization, or more features, or this or that, if the designers and concept calls for it to be built this way. Something that could be takin much more as "fact" than random expectations based on arbitrary price points, is that Lego can be modded easily, and without much hassle. It's all in your head, or in this case I guess R2's head. =)
  6. You know, it's crazy but, I think you can add your own legos and make the top as round as you'd like. Another crazy thing I just remembered is that Lego's aren't intended to be photorealistic, and so it's a bit like complaining that vanilla doesn't taste like chocolate. *Stocks up on grey slopes*
  7. Can't help ya with the lightsaber, but if you let Jek pilot your X-Wing, he can store his blaster in the hollow nose cone, very easily =P
  8. Looks good! One gets the sense however, that "purists" would have little to no regard for how the figures/ships/accessorys come from factory, and would instead be the most avid customizers out there.
  9. The top mounted cannons are easily tightened with zero modifications needed, and even with out, if fastened securely during building, do not rotate or move around much, if at all, during "swooshing" or play.
  10. I love the new details in the Lego Figures, there's not much of an argument that they don't look like Legos, save the absence of Yellow Faces, but I for one also remember when faces were bricks, with one or two eyes, that had to be built into your own blocky models, and no "mini figs" existed so the precedent for change is strong, and more than warranted. I also think comparing stock photos of molded models, and ad-hoc fantasy tech specs with what is otherwise an amazing approximation via plastic toys to be a bit confusing. There are model building kits, hobby shops, and much more detailed and "accurate" ways to build memorabilia, at this point in the Lego Star Wars franchise, a certain level of general accuracy is expected, but measurements, and details, often debated ones, are moot points because of the medium. That said, Looking forward to the new sets!
