Thanks for the welcome all. Taking the advice posted, I started a thread on the minifig modification forum: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=65973 I now have a lego me... I bought some parts for the car from Brick Links, hopefully they will be waiting at home for me today or tomorrow and I can crack on with the mods on those parts.

Well I used the Brasso technique, on the folded over corner of a stiff paper towel. With a little bit of scraping with a scalpel blade to keep the edges sharp. I lost a little crispness on the end of the mouth, but fine line marker pen has restored this to a degree. And this is me in the real world...

Thanks Guys, I'll let you know how I get on. I've got some more involved modification of parts to do as well - I need to mill the top of a Lightning McQueen rear fender/wheel arch element flat, so that it is essentialy a traditional wheel arch but with a rounded wheel opening rather than the three sided section.

Hi there, I want to make this minifig head look more like me, by removing the print of the beard, but leaving the long sideburns and mouth detail in place. I would like to do the same with the Piston Cup logo, and mouth from a Ligthning McQueen curved front wheel arch element. Is there a solvent that could be used on maybe a cotton bud that will remove the print without damaging the plastic?

Mark, I'm quite old and from the UK. I'm here because I'm in the process of making a mini fig size model of me an my car. As it used to be, As it stands now, The model I want to build will be a mix of the two with the wide wheels and "poke", and the body colour Super-S bumpers. The wheels are already decided, as is the chassis and therefore overall dimensions. Obviously the chassis will be red. For the front bumper/bonnet/wings I plan to use a Lightening McQueen front, as it has a similarly curvy shape, I want to remove the unwanted printing from the part - Rusteze logo, mouth etc, but leave the lights in place. What is the best way to remove the printing? Also I'll need to source a World Grand Prix spec front, because the Radiator springs has the race number over the headlight. For the rear wheel arch I plan to modify the McQueen kit wheel arch into a flat topped 2x4 wheel arch, because that seems to be the only way I can keep a rounded arch in 2x4 size. I haven't decided what windscreens to use - I'll have to have a play with my sons when I get the rest of my parts together. Oh and this chap, bares a striking resemblance to me, but he will need his beard removed to just leave the long sideburns. So any tips on getting rid of the printing in places, and sourcing a World Grand Prix McQueen gratefully recieved, Thanks Mark.
