Okay been playing with this beasty for a day or so now & I have some observations that I would like some of you to confirm or blow away please I bought some of the Ansman RC Tyres that efferman had found fitted these rims well, so I put them on my Crawler, it looks much better with them on but i have noticed something interesting. Due to the larger diameter of the tyres it makes the crawler drive slightly faster and with the softer grippier tyres it can grip better.... but it does not have the same hill climbing power as before obviously due to the gearing effect of the larger tyres. Lego seem to have got a perfect balance between gearing and the size of the tyres/wheels to provide just enough forward speed with plenty of "UMPHH" to climb obsticals whilst giving plenty of fun out of a set of heavy duty AA cells. With the Ansman tyres fitted the hill climb capability is actually reduced slightly and it eats a set of AA Cells much quicker than with the stock Lego tyres fitted. Not sure if it will damage the motors either so I have personally returned back to the lego original tyres and am having much fun finding obstacles to climb in my living room.... my basset hound dog was not impressed when i drove over him earlier. So, in conclusion, if anyone has the Ansman tyres and the 9398 crawler please do some of your own testing and let us know what you think?

I have my own webspace to load em to so can use em straight away, Here goes some build pictures, i made em small, I still need to build the top part of it but have not been too well so am doing it slow. EDIT: Added the rest of the build photos. Changed the wheels for the unimog hubs and the Ansman tyres... I like it better than the black wheel rims. Obviously the unimog has no wheels now so i put the crawler wheels on to it... looking good

Build time coming up for me! EDIT:- just got back with this, wife gone to get the helicopter for me aswell, Now what to make first?

I am going to attempt a medium motor on both front and rear suspension system a bit like the rock crawlers I think there is enough space to do this but maybe not and it would give enough UMPH with the right gearing, question is should i use diffs or not as i want it to climb well? Also would it be a good idea to do rear steer aswell, but i digress from the thread subject... wow these Ansmann tyres have fired us all up lol I Blame Efferman

Just a little bit at full turn or at full compression but not alot, could be adjusted accordingly with little modding. I am thinking of motorising my Unimog now, need to do some more thinking about it.
