LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Brickwarrior replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That is an awesome idea! I would love to see a theme with multiple zombie characters. You can have all sorts of fun with that idea. -
Nice work. The blend of insect and mechanical reminds me of watching the 4 original LEXX movies. If I show this to my boys I'm sure they'll be trying to build them. We have LEGO wars across the living room, and they are always looking for something to battle my Exoforce Storm Lashers.

The lower light pictures really give it the right feel. Perhaps two or three low output light sources would help you get the deepness and variety of shadow that you describe as a goal? That or actually adding the light inside of the scene, such as a little bulb. The falling books are a nice touch!

As others said, it is a beautifully done submarine that reminds me of Jules Verne's stories.

That is a beautiful piece of work. The colors and design match very well, and the build is fun and inventive.

Thanks everyone! I've worked briefly on a version 2.0 of this that has an even cleaner rectangular shape, but it's difficult to do without the size increasing a noticeable amount. It is easy to do without the lettering, but the lettering was the whole point. Phred, I missed that about the image sizes but will make sure I'm following the rules in the future.

B-V-15A This is a simple MOC, but building a minifigure-scale soda machine with lettering turned out to be a fun challenge. More pictures here: http://www.brickwarrior.com/?p=136

Beautifully done! Now I need to watch that movie again. I just indulged in "Casablanca" and "Touch of Evil Lately." Looks like I'm going on a good movie binge.

MOC: Joint Security Area - North/South Korea
Brickwarrior replied to Dreamweb's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I've not seen that behavior from the guards. Normally two or more ROK Marines come into the building when I've been there, and they post at the far hatch. The ROK Marines are fairly tough fellows. I don't think that any of the North Korean soldiers I've seen in that area would want to grab one of them. -
I agree. Using the scorpion is a nice idea, and the whole thing is incredibly small. I'd love to see about twenty of these running across a building table. I wonder if you could make the legs poseable by using some other parts? The mechanical arms are great, and coming up with another solution that stays just as small is not easy. There are not very many parts that small.

Thanks everyone. I was surprised that more themed Heroica boards haven't been created. I've seen some, but this was the first Egyptian one. The link at the bottom of the post is to the full entry on my website about Lego. http://www.brickwarrior.com/?p=92 However, here are the rules we came up with for traps: Traps When you move into a space adjacent to a trap roll the dice. “Shield” = the trap is removed and you find one gold. “Sword” = the trap is removed. “Skull” = you lose one Health and move back one space. “Sword & Skull” = lose one Health and remove the trap. We didn't come up with a unique weapon for this board. What the kids and I arrived at was the "Elixir of Life" that restores 4 health and can be used immediately if a monster reduces your hero to zero. The kids seemed to like that idea better than others we thought up; it works quite well in gameplay.

http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/uploads/1242820715/gallery_2351_18_164.gif My kids have enjoyed playing Heroica, and the idea of making very small-scale MOCs is appealing. The first was done in time for my oldest son's 7th birthday. It turned out to be a hit. The Egypt theme came about mostly due to having picked up some Ramses Pyramid and Rise of the Sphinx sets to break down into pieces. http://www.brickwarrior.com/mongo/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/heroica_kemet2.jpg http://www.brickwarrior.com/mongo/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/heroica_kemet7.jpg http://www.brickwarrior.com/mongo/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/heroica_kemet9.jpg All the rest: http://www.brickwarrior.com/?p=92

MOC: Joint Security Area - North/South Korea

I've stood on that ground. It is a strange place, and the North Korean guards who watch you through their binoculars are amusing. They are really intense, as if they believe that at any moment an American might suddenly dash into North Korea and start the next war. You can actually cross into North Korea inside of the building used for the talks. Half the building is in South Korea, half the North. It's free to roam inside the building, which is a nondescript space. Just don't open the door on the North Korean side. Apparently doing that gets them excited. -
I regret not getting more of the Fantasy line, but that was when I was getting back into Lego after a long hiatus. The fantasy aspect, with dragons, orcs, and elves is what I missed about the Kingdoms line. I'm hoping that the new LOR sets add that dimension back into a Castle-themed line. Chief want from that Fantasy line is the Troll Warship. That's a neat set.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
Brickwarrior replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The complaint at our local LEGO store was that the Flamenco Dancer and Statue of Liberty were hard to tell apart. It's the fact that both have the same slope for legs, whereas in the past if you found that big slope you knew you had the one female in the set with it. It really does not seem to be that much of a problem though - just feel for the statue's torch or the dancer's fan. -
That is fantastic, and the ripped up section of pavement that it all takes place on is the icing on the cake.

Nice work! That's a great way to create a Heroica board, and it scales nicely if you want to use minifigures instead of the microfigures.
