Thanks! Went in and got the Star Wars sticker book for my son. He's mad on Star Wars and the Hobbit sets at the moment...

Yes, TW Sylvia park is absolutely awesome; I can't recommend them highly enough...
-
Was in TW Sylvia Park this afternoon taking advantage of the sales and they were packed. The lady serving told me one customer spent $6k on lego after the discount - which one of you was it ;-)

Thanks for the awesome update! Will have to pop down to the local warehouse tomorrow and see if there are any Banks floating around...
-
I'm sure everyone knows, but some good bargains to be had at Toyco ATM, mini modulars are the cheapest I've seen them.

Great to see some more activity on this thread again; I agree we haven't seen clearances down to that level for ages here. The LR silver mine warehouse clearance of 149 down to 99 down to 49 and then the 20% stacking on top to bring it down to 39 is amazing. A little broke now, but it will definitely help stock the bricklink store I've recently started :-)

Great to see a few more replies on this thread! I guess the lack of activity is reflective of the general lack of real clearance stuff we see here compared with Australia and the USA. Legoman, I saw some Colby city showdown on special in Toyworld up here in Auckland (30% off I think) but only in one - they weren't on special in the other branch I visit. Not bad but not a patch on the $28 they were on clearance for in Australia [turns green with envy...!]

Thanks for the tip on the Lone Ranger silver mines at the warehouse; I've been watching them for a while - they were on clearance for $99 for. C Thanks for the tip on the Lone Ranger silver mines at the warehouse; I've been watching them for a while - they were on clearance for $99 for a couple of weeks but I guess they didn't shift. The good news is the 20% discount on lego they have on this weekend stacks with the clearance price so they scan at $39.95 - I picked up half a dozen :-)

Toyco have 15% off Lego Movie stuff atm

Jabba's palace for $149 on the warehouse red alert deals today; several smaller Hobbit sets + a few other LOTR, city and super heroes sets also.
-
Warehouse has 20% off all Chima at the moment. Loads of sales going on in Australia - wish it was easier to get things from there! Or that we had similar deals and range...
-
Cheapest way I've found is to find someone going across who can bring it back for you - I could possibly help - PM me if you want to chat about it.

Yes, I was over in Oz recently and picked up a couple while I was there. Managed to claim the tax back on the way out so chucked them up on trademe.

I think this is the case - I ordered some stuff over the limit a couple of months back and wasn't hit with any extra fees. I've also just ordered 10234 using their VIP pre-order, pretty pricey (!!) but I just had to have it. Wondering if the pre-order means you can just order if earlier than release, or if it will actually be shipped early too?

Jabba's Palace on warehouse red e-deals this morning for $189 if anyone's interested

Yes, went to the lego show in West Auckland with my son too - fantastic displays, well done to everyone who was involved.

Just got an email this morning offering free shipping from the Lego Shop if you spend $120 or more. Ordered the Palace Cinema - wonder how long it will take to arrive!!
-
Wow - can't see those on the website, are they only in-store? Wasn't quick enough for R2D2 the other day either - when I went to the website it was sold out, but it seems to have disappeared all together now! Still on the hunt for a cheap VW camper too - agree the IQ toys website is strange :-/

I bought a few things from Fishpond recently - a Maersk train, the Petshop and the Fire Station. Took forever, no tracking but the price was very low and the shipping was free - from memory the Petshop was $247 and the fire station was $239. Ordered them right at the start of August and only just arrived a week or so ago. Also, packing wasn't very good - lego box was a bit damaged, but to be fair they offered me either to send another one or give me a $35 credit. Didn't want to wait another two months for another one so went with the credit.

Toyco has 25% off this weekend again; seems to be happening a lot recently. Doesn't apply to modular buildings or some of the large items but reasonable savings on quite a lot of other stuff. Also seem to have 60% off Pirates of the Carribean stuff.

Thanks very much for your help Count! Realised my mistake after you pointed it out as it was pretty much two big loops... Have redesigned it - have tried to upload a photo but it says I've used 84k of my 100k allowance with the other two photos so it won't let me put up another one :-( In the meantime; another problem I'm running into is a lack of wiring to reach the far away points / signals with a large layout. I've read around and see people saying 'you can use any type of wire' - but how do people get it to stay put into the track / signals / points etc... without the handy little lego connectors? Cheers, David Edit: Removed one of the earlier photos so I could attach the updated layout. The two loose ends are going to be a bridge over the other track and join up if I can find enough bricks for the pillars :-)

Hi all - Well since I introduced myself a couple of months back I've been busy scouring the web for bits and pieces of 12v track - and also building the Tower Bridge (10214) and converting it to take trains instead of cars! I'm really pleased with it so have attached a photo... I'm no electrician and obviously no genius when it comes to track layouts so would greatly appreciate any advice from those more experienced than me! I sat down this afternoon for a couple of hours and put the track down like this; the train will run in bits of it (slowly) but when it gets to other bits it seems to short the transformer. I've been around a few bits with a multimeter but don't really understand what I'm looking for, so thought I'd post it here in case anyone just looks at it and says 'Doh!' - look what he's done! I'm looking forward to making whatever changes are needed and running the trains around it so I can take and post some more photos! Many thanks in advance, David

12V Conversion of Emerald Night 10194
Legonz replied to LEGO Train 12 Volts's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hi, Thanks very much for the reply - that's great to know and widens the options when looking for additional trains! Might give it a bit longer before I attempt the Emerald Night, don't have the first clue about resistors etc...! Cheers David. -
Hi all - I'm David from Australia and have loved the 12v lego trains since I got my first red & yellow intercity train set (7745) about 25 years ago. While I was growing up I acquired quite a few other bits and pieces to extend the track including the automated level crossing (7866), a few signals, a couple of sets of electric points, and the red electric passenger train (7725). It's all been in storage for about 15 years, and recently I got it out for my two and half year old son, who was fascinated by "helping" with the building and running of them again. After quite a bit of track cleaning and some 'rough' running around the tracks for a few minutes, all the motors are running beautifully - they are of such magnificent design. Having got them out of storage and played with them again, I'm falling in love with them all over again! I've had a look on E-Bay etc... to get some more track as I love the 12V electric accessories, but one day would be really keen to perhaps expand my line up of trains... Would be great if any of these new ones could be run on the 12V track...! I've also recently been eyeing up the huge Tower Bridge model - I thought it would be really awesome to try and widen the approach arches to be able to run a 12v track over the bridge. Have to save up first though :-) Cheers David

HI there, Sorry about that Brickster - did read the site guidelines but didn't see the post you've directed me to - am not very experienced in posting in forums etc... Cheers David
