-==IC: Arthur==-
Arthur quietly enters the library. He holds his staff carefully, so as not to send the massive bookshelves crashing into each other like giant dominoes. When he reaches the section containing the chronicles of previous quests, he gingerly sets his staff on the floor, picks up the book on Quest 1, and reads through it. Replacing the book on the shelf, he begins to read the exploits of the Heroes of Quest 4. As this is a much longer tale, he sits next to his, crossing his legs, his back to Byblos at the desk.
EDIT: OOC: Apparently, at some point, Arthur left and returned to the hall.

IC:
Arthur returns and borrows the books for Quests 2 and 3. He approaches Byblos. "Good sir, I see that there are several copies of each Quest Book. Would it be possible for me to borrow a few of them for an extended period of time--say, perhaps, taking them on a Quest of my own? Specifically, I am attempting to divine the true motivations of the Shadeaux, so I would like to borrow the books for Quests 2 and 4, as well as any others involving them. I would also like to borrow the book for Quest 3, as it is a good study guide for a Mage such as myself. , and Quest 14 as well as it deals with the same scenario...and Cinna the Dark. Finally, I would like to borrow the book for Quest 15, as I am hoping to be selected for a mission with the Bonapartes, and would like to have all relevant information on that group available to me should I be selected."
EDIT 2: OOC: Just realized those ones are still in progress, ergo the books wouldn't be written yet.

EDIT 3: OOC: Man, this topic is practically dead!

IC:
"Well...hmm, that is an odd question," Byblos replies. "Well, I don't see why not...still, I'd prefer if you only take a few, and that you be exremely careful with them!"
Arthur nods and thanks Byblos. "I will treat them with the utmost care. If I can find the time, perhaps when I return, I can tell you of my own land, a land so far to the south and east that most mapmakers don't even know we exist." With that, Arthur heads back to Heroica Hall.
-
They started a war by framing elves, now they sell weapons to both sides. Profit for them, countless lives lost.
-==IC: Arthur==-
Arthur raises his eyebrows in surprise. He had not heard of this news. Suddenly the Hinckwells appear to be a much better ally than the Shadeaux. He signs up for Quest 17, as his chances of being selected appear to be better.
Arthur then heads to the library.
-
-==IC: Arthur==-
Arthur returns to the Hall, and decided to see if anyone around here was allied with the Shadeaux, and if they knew of any recent news of their exploits.
-
-==IC: Arthur==-
Arthur enters the marketplace, and promptly trips over someone's outstretched foot--from the brife glance he got, it belonged to one of the women he had accidentally tripped earlier. He bounced and rolled through the marketplace, finally sliding to a halt at Gnomeo's toolshed. The gnome is too busy laughing at Arthur to speak coherently, so Arthur just hands over 5 gold, takes his new bedroll, and leaves back to Heroica Hall.

"Good to know. Uh...which way to the store?"

Per astra ad aspera, Through hardships to the stars. Is it a sci-to thing and you found pod 7???
Ding ding ding! That face is exclusive to me, it's the face of the pilot from Pod 7...whose name is AJR7. Arthur Justus Regulus VII (7).
Even though technically I said you had to guess before I posted the pic, if I manage to get any good loot on my next Quest, expect a small token of reward.

EDIT: Also, how does Brickdoctor and several others do that nifty tooltip thing in their signatures? I'd really like to try it for mine, mke it less cluttered.

-
-==AJR7==-
Arthur sat down by Atramor and William. "Hehe...the feathers...I can explain--" Just then, the end of his staff tripped a woman behind him. Arthur decided that was explanation enough. "So...what do you recommend a rookie like me should do to start off in Heroica?"
-
Dammnit! I appear solely responsible for all the mad love in the hall!

I wonder if Uland is currently in it's spring equivalent, a time when all the heroes feel the urge to go out and continue the hero species. Maybe we will get to see two hero males trying to impress a female hero, perhaps by plumage or rare physical power. Thank goodness De'kra lacks the potential for anything beyond friendship, it might just keep him safe from this madness.
Well, Arthur is probably safe, considering that the real person who plays him (me) has absolutely zero skill in this area. Whatsoever. Seriously, it's actually kinda depressing. *Pulls out notebook and starts taking notes for personal use.*
Dek'ra's got it right - this is a plague.

Here is something to consider, how did Wren know about Jess and Haldor? I don't think it was mentioned out loud, and while Wren seemed to know what was going on in her arena how did she already have those riddles about them prepared? It wasn't a major discussion in the Hall at the time, yet Wren knew all about it. How?
Likewise the Hall seems different now. We have Knights, Barbarians, and Clerics arguing over shared points of interest, and Haldor and Jess both seem a little dazed and distracted: not as focused as before. They aren't completely crippled, but the Hall is suffering with so many strong members distracted.
Now I am not implying that Wren engineered a love plague to distract Heroica and cause chaos among the Heroes...but that is exactly what I am implying.
No, Wren discovered the art of planewalking, jumped into the real world, and used a meta strategy: she released the love plague on EB members, causing the associated heroes to become lovestruck and lovesick.

Grogall linked this in the Collectible Minifigures Series 6 topic. There's a couple Ninjago-related things to observe here. First, evidently to celebrate the new wave, the January Mini Model Build is a cobra. Additionally, from December 26-January 31, if you spend 50£ or more, you get an exclusive Kendo Jay booster pack. There are some decent weapon pieces in that as well as that lovely lightning-printed "crown" for your spinners (which I'm not sure comes in any other sets seen so far).
So, I'll have to spend $50 come January...hmm...looks like I'd better triple-check my list of Ninjago wants, then. Let's see, I'll have to get the Rattlecopter, but then I'll need to pick up spinners for all the ZX ninja because the sets generally fail to have the shoulderpads...hmm...
What's the cheapest way to get all 4 Snake Staffs as well as all 4 ZX ninja WITH the shoulderpads? (I don't really care about the Kendo figs, though I'll gladly take that booster pack for Jay. My motto: never turn down "free" LEGO.

OOC: I don't have a lot of medieval sets, but if someone gives me an idea for something simple I could build I'll edit pictures in here later.

-==IC: Arthur Justus Regulus VII==-
A man wearing a white tunic, blue pants, a rediculous-looking blue wizard's hat, and carrying a giant, serpentine staff enters the hall. He strides in confidently, looking cool and suave--until he accidentally smacks some poor guy in the face with his rediculously large staff. As he turns around to help him up, the other end of the staff trips another man carrying a basket full of apples. As he bends over to pick up the apples before they roll away, a woman with a clay jar full of water trips over him. By the time Arthur Justus Regulus VII sits down at the bar, he is bruised, sodden, and covered in feathers (don't ask).
"Bartender...I need a drink." Arthur magically produces a goblet of pure sapphire and sets it on the bar in anticipation. Then he notices the Quest Board. He secrets the goblet up his sleeve. "Hmm...the Lion's Share...it looks like I'd be ellegible, but then again...the Hinkwells...hmm..." He turns his attention to the other listed quest. "The Bonapartes would be a valuable ally...but would they make an exception to there rule for one as inexperienced as I?" Arthur turns to those nearby him. "What do you all think? Are any of you applying for these quests?"
EDIT: Getting nothing but odd looks, Arthur just decides to put his name down on QUEST #18, hoping he could tag along and maybe learn something.

I now have a picture! Full-size (ish) version:

-
I'm totally confused.
You can sort of introduce yourself in the hall, but I think you need a picture.OK, Pic is coming as soon as the camera finishes downloading to the computer. Last chance to guess!
I'll give one last hint: I have made a post on this forum that mentions the qualities of myself that I feel make me unique. The character Arthur Justus Regulus 7 references is related to that in a way. Also, "Per Aspera Ad Astra" is involved, somehow. :PBTW, someone really needs to run another campaign with the Bat Lords, I want to get a set of Bat Lord Armor. [/spillover from LU]

Can anyone recommend a good quest for a newbie like me?
-
Oh, also, you start with a Potion as well.

Oh, that's handy to know! Thanks!
I'll give y'all a hint with the name: he's not a real-life person (as far as I know), but he is "real". He's official, but not an official. He now is, but will be not, but forevermore he will live on. He came direct, but the name isn't. Confused yet?

Also, for the record, I had no idea about the Congressman from Kentucky; I don't live anywhere near there.

EDIT: Should I buy a Bedroll or a shovel? Also, do I just post in the Heroica Hall, or...?
-
Picture: Coming soon. I have him built, but not photographed.
;-) Arthur Justus Regulus VII, Level 1 Mage
20-year-old male Human
Power: Health: Ether:5/5 Gold:10
Inventory: Serpentine Staff (WP: 3), Elemental Gem of Ice
(first person to get the reference of his name, I will give you some loot from my next quest. You have until I post the picture.
)Note: I'm posting it here in case anyone has suggestions, and in case the user control panel bugs out for me again.
(Last time I tried to add my sig, I got an error message. Wish me luck!)EDIT: Say, what is the code that people use to make tooltext appear in their profiles? it would be MOST useful here!
-
Yes you can use any kind but only one at a time.
OK, thanks.
So, besides the skin color, what makes Mopags different from humans? Also (and slightly off-topic), where did the outfit for Byblos the librarian come from? I LOVE those legs and want to get a pair for my own use.

-
1.) No you don't unless you want too.
1a.) Yes you may change his clothes. Look at me.

2.) Nope. If you only play you don't have to take any pictures other than the one of your figure.
3.) Each gem can be used as many times as you want, and each one has a different power.
Was that what you were looking for?
Yep! Thanks! I probably won't get started until the New Year, but I want to have time to collect parts as needed (i.e. if the Lego store at Walt Disney World and/or Disneyland gets some early Series 6 minifigs in right before Christmas).
1.) No, you can leave your character as it is, or you can update them if you want.

1a.) Yes, you cna change your character's clothes, but you cannot change their face unless the new face resembles the old one, so that your character is still recognizable as the same person.
2.) No, you can only take one picture of your character and leave it at that. Look at Brickdoctor, he's finished 3 Quests and hasn't changed his character picture once.
3.) No, the gems allow your character to use spells of the gem's element. (e.g. you get a Topaz, your character can cast Lightning spells.)
That's how I understand it, someone correct me if I'm wrong!

OK, thanks for the advice!
EDIT:
Further to these questions, if you have an idea of what you want your character to look like but don't have all the peices available, put a message here and perhaps someone might be able to help you out. (As long as your request isn't too outrageous!)
Some things to be aware of that you might not have picked up from just glancing at the heroica topics
Humans (and elves and dwarves) are yellow heads. (or possibly brown!)
Flesh coloured heads have become a race called Mopags, but don't feel restricted by that.
There are several other races that have made their appearance as Heroes, check out the list at the start of the hall for pointers there.
Gender age and race are for flavour only, they make no difference in play. (Unless a QuestMaster rules so for the heroes in the quest they are running).
Looking forward to seeing you in the halls!
So, besides the skin color, what exactly makes the Mopags different from ordinary humans?
Also, just for clarity, if I manage to collect all of the different colored gemstones, I can use all kinds of magic, or am I limited on how many I can carry/use?
-
So, a few quesions about how this works:
1.) When I take the pic for my character, will I have to update it with any/all new items I get?
1a.) If I decide I don't like my character's appearance, can I change it? (Obviously not adding weapons/etc, just things like torso and legs, etc.)
2.) Will I need to take extra pics if I only play quests? (I'd like to do this, but my bricks are mostly still in boxes, and I don't have much space for photography.)
3.) A question about the magic elemental gems (the ones Mages start off with)--are these one-time-use items, or do I gain new types of magic for each gem I collect, or what?

and Lego's always had this teeny repertoire of recycled action features
case in point: their insane catapult fetish*resists urge to comment on this for several reasons*

... And there's the giant robot this theme was still missing.
Thanks, whung!Does anyone else think we'll get a Lloyd Garmadon's Tree House/Fortress set? With all the booby traps and stuff, it would seem like just the sort of playset TLG would release.
Also, a pink Ninja? Seriously? We might as well rename this theme Power Rangers: The Lego Ninja Version.

Personally, I'd love to see that treehouse done in Lego! It's been too long since I've gotten trapdoor pieces from a set...
Anybody else notice the banana?

Hm, that does look like a banana... Maybe there's a joke here where the mech is supposed to slip on it?

Also, since when is a pitchfork considered a weapon?

*rolls dice* 1. Critical failure on my Will save, now I must make the joke.

The pitchfork first appeared in D&D as a weapon that dealt Piercing damage of--*shot*

Sorry, couldn't resist.

In all seriousness, though, I'm wondering about that banana myself. It's been popping up in a lot of the sets I've gotten lately it seems, I wonder if that "insane catapult fetish" SpiderSpaceman mentioned is mutating into a banana obsession...

While its not worthy of much consideration, I found ONE new 2012 set in wal-mart today, Venomari Shrine. It was attractive, but I did not get it.
Dude, you're missing out. Zane ZX is awesome, and even if you don't like the set (as is, the shrine build itself is rather "meh"), the parts are epic. Translucent neon green grilles? Yes, please! 1x2 bricks with engraved brickwork pattern? Oh, yeah!
Is it just me or are the Green Ninja's eyes really close together compared to other characters?
The green ninja had aspects of all of the ninja: he had control over fire (Kai), he had extreme strength (Cole), and... wow, somehow I can't remember the things he had in common with Jay and I only watched those episodes about four or five days ago. But anyway, I thought it was worth mentioning that he was similar to all of them because Lord Garmadon has control over all the elements (albeit "unbalanced"). So since Lloyd Garmadon is Lord Garmadon's son, maybe he could potentially have control over all four elements, leading to similarities to the ninja masters of each one? It seems like kind of a stretch to me, but remember, Greg Farshtey is the one coming up with this stuff. For all we know, the Green Ninja is Lloyd from the future, which would explain him being larger.
EDIT: Rocketbilly, it was stated by a scroll Sensei Wu had that the Green Ninja was one of Sensei Wu's four students.
So now that I think about that, maybe Lloyd isn't the green ninja. Or maybe the scroll is wrong.
IIRC, Zane had to translate the scroll from "the ancient language of the land." Speaking from experience, it can be VERY hard to translate from Japanese to English, and that's when the Japanese has been transcribed into hiragana/katakana; with Kanji, some of the individual translation quirks for each character can become so complex, it can make a full, accurate translation almost impossible. I find it likely that Zane's translation was a little off.
Also, looking from a merchandising standpoint, if the Green Ninja is an addition to the main cast (instead of a replacement), that means there's one more character they have for 2013's new forms (and thus, one more spinner set for the kids to collect).
In other news, Earth Dragon Defense just arrived, meaning I have now built all four dragons! You know, the way the rock plates are attached on the sides makes me think the very first plan was to put the wings there...I'm thinking with a visit to Bricklink and some ingenuity, I can give him wings like in the video series. Has anyone else here tried this, and if so, how did it go?
-
Thanks. Any chance of a link to a HD version of the full episodes? (Only Episodes 1 and 2 were released in the U.S.)
EDIT:
I can kind of see that:

Also, anybody think that the five on his torso might be a hint? There are for ninjas now, but maybe he'd be number five.

Hmm...let's also note that that number 5 is green...
-
Welcome aboard!

Thanks!
Wow, that is some cool stuff man! I enjoyed LU myself, it just got too repetitive too quick IMHO.
They added a LOT of stuff near the end. There was a HUGE update almost ready for release, but now TLG won't let the mods release it...grr...
(Incidentally, don't get me started on Lego Corporate's decision-making--just, just don't. :P )
Welcome to the site. It is a good source for all things Lego. Cool deal about the unique pieces!
Yeah, they are pretty sweet. I haven't gotten the nerve to tear the pod apart to actually use the pieces (well, except for the bazooka), but I've gotten quite a bit of use out of the pilot and the bazooka!
Hey! Welcome to the site. I used to be on LU to, I don't know if you remember me, I was cwertle9. Funny, i play Minecraft too
Odd, I haven't run across you, at least not that I can recall. I play mostly on Overbuild, did you play on Storm perhaps?
My Minecraft username is _Flipz_, I'm not on a whole lot of servers, and now that most servers are down due to the update...

Anyway, only two episodes have aired here in the United States; the rest aren't airing until January according to the commercials.
If anyone knows where I can watch high-quality versions of the later episodes, I'd appreciate a link.Ditto.
Also, pink ninja, wha--? Any chance someone could link me to the post that shows a pink ninja?
 -
I need to get this!!!
anyone when the destiny bounty will be out?
That's the ship, right? No idea, all the sets we've seen so far are out EXCEPT that one. :-/
Does the insert from the instruction manuels (the one with all the weapons) include set numbers of sets we have not seen yet? I ask mainly becuase I have no idea which set includes dynomite.
Nope, just what we've seen already.
Also, the Rattlecopter box clearly shows Lloyd fighting the snake guy (on the back). ;-)
-
I actually picked up the Venomari Shrine at Toys'R'Us the other day--I live in the United States, though, so I don't know if it'd be out in Europe. If you see the set, get it! Zane ZX is just awesome, and his shoulderpads will be VERY useful for many things--it can hold up to two swords, similar to the Prince of Persia sword holder, but it's cleverly designed so that if you take the swords out, you can actually attack the back part to a Technic pin. (I'm pretty sure that's how Kai's jetpack-thing is built in the Rattlecopter set.) The shrine also has several nifty 1x2 pieces with brickwork engraving--I'm not sure if they were in Pharaoh's Quest, since I didn't buy any of that theme--and they are just, as the saying goes, "made of win." Also, if the ad in the instruction book is telling the truth, the Venomari Shrine is the ONLY place to get the Snake Staff with the little "poison" detail on it--also note that you get a SPARE of that piece as well! Overall, I LOVE this set!

No, I don't mind. Extra parts for custom characters!
(Also bear in mind that I already have the Venomari Shrine, in case it affects your calculations.)
