Too many to name! When I'm not engrossed in ancient history, I'm watching some sci-fi, painting, or reading. But I read pretty much anything...

  1. I just finished an awesome 5-part series called "WOOL." It is, by far, the best science fiction I have read in a LOOOONG time. I highly recommend it to anyone who's a fan of dystopias, deceit, major plot twists, or just plain suspense!
  2. Actually, Q is the one who brings it up. On 2 different occasions, he tempts Janeway with getting her back to Earth if she does what he wants. Unfortunately, in both instances, Janeway couldn't bring herself to do what it was he wanted. The first time (Death Wish) was for her principles, the second (The Q and the Grey), was for personal reasons. To her defense, she probably assumed that Quinn, with his vast knowledge of space, could lead them to all the known shortcuts in the Delta Quadrant... too bad he died shortly after he became mortal.
  3. Hmm,I haven't been here nearly long enough to know how many Star Trek fans there are on Eurobricks. I would recommend starting a new discussion and seeing how many interested responses you get. On another note, I watched "Death Wish" yesterday. Talking about it made me realize that's it's been about 2 years since I've seen it. And wow, it's amazing how much tastes change. Episodes that I used to love (Caretaker), I now find to be just okay, while episodes I found just okay (Death Wish) I now love. I still found Q's hide-and-seek game to be rather annoying, but once the asylum hearing begins, the episode becomes amazing. I especially love Janeway's post-decision speech to Quinn. I almost want to watch it again!
  4. I'm intrigued by your post, Flipz, but I don't really know what it means. I was actually part of a Trek RPG set about 100 years after TNG before, but it was not LEGO related. How would that fit in?
  5. Now there I must disagree. The tension lasts throughout Season 2 and only fully dissipates after the first episode of Season 3 (Minus a few episodes where time travel or repressed memories are concerned). Only among Chakotay and Torres does the tension seem to disappear somewhat quickly (and both of those were formerly in Starfleet, so maybe it makes sense). Almost all the tension is in some way related to the Seska storyline. Aside from Seska herself, Michael Jonas is leaking information throughout Season 2. Lt. Hogan openly criticizes the Captain on 2 occasions that I can recall. And a number of episodes in Seasons 1 and 2 are based around the Maquis tension, either directly or indirectly: Parallax Prime Factors State of Flux Learning Curve Maneuvers Alliances Meld (To a lesser degree) Investigations Basics Part 1 and 2 There are more, but those are the episodes in which the tension is a prevalent part of the story. I thought they did a great job of exploring the issue without going overboard (Thank goodness they didn't do a mutiny episode. That would have ruined half the stories in the later seasons since all those involved would not have been very trustworthy. I'm glad they were able to work a mutiny into the series through the use of the holodeck though).
  6. Ah! I can't wait to play. I'm moving tomorrow, so I hope to have my new comp. set up sometime this weekend. I really liked the set-up for Voyager in TNG too, especially with the native Americans. It helped establish Chakotay's background, because we did not get the details until Season 2.
  7. I think the best Q episode is definitely "Q Who." But that has nothing to do with the character for me, just the subject matter. I generally tend to dislike the over-the-top performance that Q requires. If I had to base a Q episode solely on the characters/performance, my favorite would be "Death Wish."
  8. I guess she's not for everyone; my friends were never too fond of her either. Unfortunately, Star Trek seems to be full of those "shut up and die" characters... TNG in particular. I especially disliked the Duras sisters (and most of the Klingons, actually), Q throughout TNG, Dr. Soran, Wesley Crusher, etc.
  9. LoL. She died when her console overloaded because the Doctor turned off the backup safety systems on the phaser array. You can see her get hit with the blast. She was my favorite because she "came back from the dead" via the holodeck. That episode (Worst Case Scenario) was SOOO good!
  10. If only! That would be awesome. Maybe I'll try my hands at the Delta Flyer one day. I think it would be an interesting build since it lacks the blocky shape of the TNG shuttles. That's what I thought at first too, so I tried to add the railing and console that hovers just behind the chairs. The console looked good and I got to use the computer display tiles. But the railing looked much too bulky. So then I thought I might add the CONN station, but that requires a huge gap of nothing but grey carpeting between them. After playing around with these alternatives, I decided to just stick to the basics. Aside from the full-bridge reproductions, most of the Star Trek sets I saw just utilize a tiny portion (usually around the Captain's chair) of the bridge. Maybe one day I'll add to it bit by bit. Who knows... I might end up with the entire bridge eventually! LoL. On another note, I think I finally figured out why Star Wars sets are so much more popular than Star Trek sets. The ships/sets don't require nearly the same amount of greebles and oddities. Star Trek sets are sleek, simple, and usually symmetrical. Star Wars sets tend to be the opposite... which makes for a much better build. I wish that I could add more to this little display, but I will be building the Star Wars Imperial Shuttle shortly after moving to my new place. And I'm desperately being convinced not to display LEGO everywhere like I did at my old place. That shuttle will be huge, so I don't know how much more room I'll have on the tiny little shelf I'll most likely be restricted to
  11. Very nice! I love how sleek it looks! And I don't mind the studs. A few visible studs never hurt anybody.
  12. So who is everyone's favorite Trek villain? As a group, I definitely have to say the Borg. I loved them in both TNG as well as First Contact. The First Contact version then went on to be used on Voyager, so we definitely got to see more of them. But the early Borg were equally creepy in their silent and almost catatonic state. As for individual villains, I don't think anyone can hold a candle to Seska. She was so easy to hate, but so determined and clever that you almost found yourself rooting for her... the perfect characteristics of a great villain, in my opinion. (On an unrelated note, I just added a Trek MOC to the Sci-Fi pages!)
  13. My first MOC on these forums! To my knowledge, although there are plenty of Enterprise bridge MOCs out there (including dozens of the original Star Trek Captain's Chair), no one has yet created an Intrepid-Class Captain's Chair as seen on Star Trek Voyager. At least not that I have seen. Voyager being my favorite series, I decided to give it a go. It actually took a lot longer to design than I thought it would! But I am very happy with the result. It is minifigure-scale, which prevented me from adding some of the smaller details like the brown chair cushions or the retracting data display without ruining the sleek shape, but I think it came out very well. The chairs look quite wide in comparison to the actual set, but if I kept their original shape, they would have come out much too tall. Nevertheless, it's a small price to pay for a minifig-scaled bridge set :) I already ordered the parts off of bricklink and can't wait to get them! This little baby is 104 pieces not counting the minifigures. As for the minifigs themselves, I am custom making them with the Voyager uniforms. Naturally, Captain Janeway will take the Captain's chair. Rather than having Chakotay in the First Officer's seat, I decided to place myself (in minifig-form, of course) in his place. I ordered 3 different hair pieces for Janeway because no one piece perfectly matches her hair on the show. I'll have to see which looks best once I get them in. I will add more pictures once I build the set, and then again when the uniforms and minifigs are complete. Thanks for looking!
  14. I have to agree. I've seen a handful of the original episodes on Netflix, but I usually had to watch them in installments, since I got bored fairly quickly. I can see why they were iconic, but they just weren't for me. I did, however, enjoy the new Star Trek movie, and am very much looking forward to the sequel
  15. My thoughts exactly I knew Pulaski would be a blast when she cut off Picard during their first conversation. (I didn't care for Picard in the beginning of the show. I thought he had a stick up his butt, especially when compared with Janeway.)
