  1. This is great. So many nice details. I really like the gun.
  2. Thanks for all the nice comments. An instructions photo montage is now available in my Flickr gallery.
  3. The ability for the Droideka to use it's characteristic rolled up position is sadly under appreciated by LEGO. For me that's one of the key features and just as important as an intimidating attack pose. For some reason the developers of the official versions got way too hung up on recreating the three feet and the round shape at the bottom, leaving out almost any other aspect of accuracy all together. Now I've returned to an old mission of mine. Trying to create the minifig scale Droideka I've always dreamt of. Please let me know what you think of the result. More pics and a part list photo at my flickr.
  4. With these two pics explaining the wings you should be able to start building. Good luck! It would be great to hear about your experience if You actually build one. Please let me know if you think that I need to clarify things with notes on my Flickr page.
  5. Thanks again. I've made three more pics with instructions.
  6. Here's a pic showing the Snowspeeder disassembled. I'm going to make separate pics for the wings, the body and the rear grill thingy. Coming soon.
  7. Thanks for all the nice comments. I don't know the piece count. The core construction is very stable with some weaker parts attached to it. That makes it "swoschable" enough, but you might have to make some adjustments afterwards. No super unconventional stuff. A couple of "stud in technic hole" connections though. Yes, there is a seat for the gunner as well. By using those three studded corner plates with two of the studs sticking out from a stack of 1x1 plates. Every pair of 2x2 tiles have one corner plate. The plate stack has some vertical clips that connects to handle bars at the back of the airspeeder. The "Grill" is made up of two pieces, stud facing inwards. Confusing enough? I'll try to show some pictures.
  8. To have a better chans of fixing some of the things I didn't like with my latest version I decided to start over, allthough keeping much of the look and feel of the previous model. The canopy and the front plates are the only areas untouched. More pics at my Flickr page It's pretty much a complete rebuild made to look like the old one, but with an improved core construction allowing for the improvements that I wanted to make. Here's the short list: -Only tiles in the back grill. -Better markings at the bottom and an entirely new look to the underside of the vessel. -Brick built flaps on the wings. ( to have a non sticker solution.) -Improved front canon connections. -New smaller rear gun. (with the new shorter lightsaber blade piece.) -All new interior. Check out the pictures and let me know what you think.
  9. Once again I have experimented with human like brick built figs in a scale that goes well with minifig headgear. This project started with the idea to make a figure to go with some slightly larger than minifig scale Halo vehicles. I guess we can call these figs "Halo-esque". This is not an exact depiction of any specific armor or weapons from Halo. It's more of an exercise in human anatomy fig making. The method I used for the legs with those knee joint gives the fig the ability to pose in different fixed leg positions. More pics in a Flickr set! Have a look and let me know what you think.
  10. Some good ideas incorporated here. I would like to see it as a real CubeDude though. In my mind the diagonal placement of the head is the single most important aspect when making CubeDudes. I would advise those taking part in that contest to really study the CubeDudes from MacLane and others. They are really fun to make, but the success of the format is based on the limitations and the basic idea MacLane developed when making his first hundred CubeDudes.
  11. Thanks for the comments and compliments guys. Much appreciated. Tatooine sunset by Larry Lars, on Flickr As of now, I'm still in the contest over at FBTB. There has been some surprising turns with several favorites falling off. I could use the support in case you think that I'm one of the good ones left. Thanks a lot.
  12. The Twin Sunset by Larry Lars, on Flickr Toshiro by Larry Lars, on Flickr Underside by Larry Lars, on Flickr My entry in the "FBTB MOC Madness 2010" contest is a ship with a heavy retro feel to it. I saw this as an opportunity to try out some ideas I have had for a while on how to build WWII era style markings and color scheme. I've used a lot of building methods that are new to me this time. I ended up with some odd angles and the different color patterns dictated an "all studs outwards" technique. Any thought? All comments most welcome.
  13. Thanks for your comments. My Snowspeeder is now slightly updated. As any Snowspeeder MOC:er I've been waiting for more colors of the windshield piece I've used this time. Blue was never an option and I would prefer a clear one of course. Since this windshield piece is one extra plate high and only have two studs the canopy had be reworked somewhat. Any comments welcome as usual. Here's the older version for comparison: I liked my previous version quite a bit. But since some of my design ideas have been popping up elsewhere with the new more accurate windshield, I thought I too should have a go at a new canopy. Any comments on the result?
  14. Thanks again. I'm starting to get to the end of my list of Star Wars characters that would be interesting to make as CubeDudes. We'll see if this is the end of it. Here's an Ewok. The color of his hood might suggest that it isn't Wicket I guess.
  15. Thanks for all the comments. ..and now Admiral Ackbar. He was a tricky build actually. It's hard to get the right CubeDude look when the character even in it's orginal form is supposed to have the eyes on the sides.
  16. Thanks for all the comments. After the two leias I made a series of prequel era CubeDudes. Have a look and let me know what you think.
  17. I guess that everybody knows what a CubeDude is by now. If not, here it is. MacLane came up with the concept and made a hundred or so before posting them to the world. Now they have their own Flickr group and the boxy little figs seems to be spreading quite well as a FAD in the LEGO community. I've only made two of them so far. Both Leia themed. Here they are: Be sure to check out all of the CubeDudes on Flickr and let me know what you think about these two.
  18. I would say no. According to this Wookieepedia entry the ship is 38 meters long and holds up to 54 stormtroopers. And I guess the "real" cockpit is more of a room that fits a small bunch of people. This MOC is more of a lego minifig adaptation that is at least better and more accurate than the official one, and also one that would actually be concidered to be useful as a troop transport. This ship wasn't easy to research since it is more of an expanded universe ship despite it being featured in the New Hope Special Edition. The pics I used for reference showed quite a lot of difference so this MOC is me picking the things I liked the best really. One answer would be that it's more to scale than the official minifig Star Destroyer and the likes. Keep the comments coming. There will be pics of the interior filled with stormies uploaded soon. Actually I don't know how many troopers I own. We'll see. I also have made arrangements so that one of the two compartments can hold two of my speeder bikes
  19. Thanks for the comments and compliments guys. Much appreciated. There are three wings. All of them didn't "show up properly" in previous pics. I guess that's what you where confused by. And regarding the size: 50 studs long, 22 studs wide and 24 stud high (without the landing gear). Add 12 studs to the height and 14 studs to the width for when the wings are in the flying position. More pics of the landing craft at my Flickr
  20. ..and a rear shot. Thanks for the comments so far. This pic features the side door as well as the engine part. I'll be back with interior and weaponary pics later. The imperial landing craft pics on my Flickr
  21. This Imperial landing craft has been on my shelf collecting dust for a long while now, waiting to be photographed. I made some minor changes and I may work on it a bit more before I upload more pics. The cockpit have room for two pilots. There's an interior with room for 16 troopers and 4 officers. The ship is loaded with 8 bombs and there is a retracteble ion canon as well.
  22. I haven't looked too deep into newer headgear for a while, but I think the shape of the hole for the stud seems kind of new and strange on the Endor rebel helmet. Slightly eight sided rather that round. Maybe LEGO are trying some new methods to produce awsome helmets like this and went a little too far with the changes for the connection part on this helmet. I know that headgear dont always ave a perfect circle inside, but this shape was new to me. Have you find other examples similar to this one?
  23. The new AT-ST that comes with the big Endor set has an interesting design. A lot of techniques and part choices rarly used in official sets. I like this walker a lot, but I think it's kind of sad that the first really good minifig AT-ST has to be part of such a large set. In a set with just the walker they could've used more pieces and gone all the way with this basic design idea that has the potential for the first official movie accurate AT-ST. I know I'm going to start from scratch some day and use a few ideas from this walker combined with some of my mods for the 7657 walker and finally make a nice and small minifig chicken walker. For that project I needed to know if the cockpit of the new one could fit two drivers with some minor modifications. It turned out to be fairly easy. I only had to remove five, and add thirteen bricks to put in the four and a half studs wide seating arrangement from my modded 7657 AT-ST. This pic should help you figure it out if you have the set and would like to do this modification yourself.
  24. Thanks for the comments and compliments guys. Much appreciated. Take a look at my latest pic where I've tried to replicate an iconic shot from the movie.
  25. Now I've added the requested comparison pic where you can see my snowspeeder MOC together with two of the official ones. There's a couple of new pics added so you can have a look at all of them here
