Brickarms Question
the enigma that is badger replied to Joey Lock's topic in General LEGO Discussion
All of the posts above are accurate; BrickArms accessories are only available for direct purchase in the colors as displayed on the site. The only accessory that currently has different color options for individual purchase is the Spy Briefcase which is available in five different colors: Black, Light Gray, Brown, Reddish Brown, and White. However, the Sci-Pack does allow you to purchase nine different BrickArms items in a silver color. There is also the Grenade Weapons Pack that features the M84 Stun Grenade in black, silver, and brown. Also, when selecting the free item that he includes with every BrickArms purchase, Will always selects a Limited Edition colored accessory. Yes, the M1 Garand is available for purchase in brown as this color best represents the real-life wooden stock of the weapon. In regards to the black M1 and brown versions of the other Series 3 items, they MAY become available for direct purchase but these plans are still tentative and subject to change. However, if you'd be interested in these items being more widely available, then this thread would be a great place to make your voice be heard! badger -
I posted this in the general MOC forum as well, but thought it was worth while to post here, too: I recently took two BrickArms prototype bipods, removed the legs, trimmed the ends a bit, then glued them together to make a connection piece to link two items that are minifig-grippable. I call it the U-Clip! The main reason I tried it: removable bayonet!: Keep in mind, this is my own creation and has no bearing on future plans Will Chapman has for official BrickArms accessories. badger

Taking two BrickArms prototype bipods, I removed the legs, trimmed the ends a bit, then glued them together. I dubbed it "the U-Clip" (U for universal) as it can connect pretty much anything that's minifig grippable And here's a few of the combinations I tried. Some are wackier than others: Keep in mind, this is my own creation and has no bearing on future plans Will has for official BrickArms accessories. badger

Man Bites Dog (the English title of C'est arrivé près de chez vous)! Now there's a film I never thought I'd see get mentioned on a LEGO forum! The English language poster is even a bit more off-color as they replace the teeth with a pacifier! It does help capture the over-the-top satirical tone of the film though. Actually, my sig fig has the same source of inspiration: Det. "Dirty" Harry Callahan: The pistol is the BrickArms .44 Magnum, the face decal was designed by Damien, and the torso is factory TLC. Do you play with your lego?
the enigma that is badger replied to hollisbrick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As a mature builder, I, of course, build my MOCs in a cool, methodical manner, reflecting on the inherent artistry and aesthetic joy of each piece I construct. Of course, I find this hard to maintain when my significant other catches me making "Ptchew! Ptchew!" noises while I'm holding a fig armed with some new BrickArms prototype I'm . . . . testing. badger -
Like the title says, head over to the spiffy new BrickArms homepage and see what's joined the BrickArms family! You can also read all about it on the Brickjournal website! Other cool new additions: - Several great new weapons packs, including all the sci-fi items . . . in silver! - The BrickArms Medkit, previously only offered as part of the Limited Edition BrickArms Medic, is also now available! - BrickArms Apparel can also now be yours! 'Cause every girl is crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man! ;) Happy Ordering! badger

New castle sets in 2009
the enigma that is badger replied to legomilk's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That's just human psychology: when a situation is ambiguous, we tend to think what we want to be true really is the truth. I see it happen alot with Brickarms items. I give a small hint about a new item, and folks will make tortured leaps of logic to make whatever item it is they want to see produced fit the clue. Given we weren't suppose to know about the Agents line when this was hinted and that's clearly a story-based line for 2009, I'd be willing to bet that's it. 'Tis a shame, really; while I do think Agents is going to be fun, Pirates and Castle were my first LEGO loves, and with the Castle line, TLC has shown they can go back to their roots with style. badger -
Yes, I can confirm that the BA monopod and bipod are removable. In fact, they work with any weapon (Brickarms, TLC, or MOC) that has a minifig-gripable barrel. Like all Brickarms accessories, great looking and versatile! The energy sword Will made was produced as a test of the routing abilities of his home CNC machine (what he uses to make all Brickarms prototypes and limited edition items). Here's a picture: Unfortunately, due to the time and resources require to produce such an item, there are no plans to ever offer this item for sale. You will, however, be able to see it at the Brickarms booth at Brickworld. I'll be there as well . . . . . guarding the sword ;-) badger

Creating a Shako Mold
the enigma that is badger replied to woody64's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Technically, it's an Oxford piece that Best Lock-Cobi has cloned. It also has turned up in a few clone/pirate sets out of Hong Kong. It's really more of a cap than a shako. It has a higher crown than the standard TLC cap, but not by much. Still, one of my favorite pieces of minifig headgear that's out there. Perfect for officers! badger -
Here's a final preview of all the new Mold #3 accessories from Brickarms for everyone to enjoy: BA-M5 (as inspired by the HALO video game series) BA-M6 (as inspired by the HALO video game series) MK48 w/ Bipod MK48 w/ Monopod MP7 PKD2019 (as inspired by the film Blade Runner) Auto-9 (as inspired by the film RoboCop) M1 Garand Flashbang Grenades Important Note: Accessories may not be available in silver color. The mold for these items is currently being finalized, but keep watching the Brickarms homepage for some major updates very shortly! I'll also post in this thread when they're made available for purchase. badger

Creating a Shako Mold
the enigma that is badger replied to woody64's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
While I do nothing but wish you best of luck with this project, I can tell you from my experience with Brickarms that any quality custom accessory mold, especially the kind of mold needed to produce the kind of headgear you've post here, is very, very, very expensive. If you're really interested in pursuing this, I'd encourage you to get in touch with a few of the luminaries of custom accessories (Will Chapman, Armothe). They'll be able to forward to molders and toolers who can give you estimate costs. badger -
While I voted for Galidor, I honestly don't even consider it a LEGO theme as it was a far from System sets as any other action figure line. If the voting was limited solely to System element themes, Time Cruisers/Twisters would have gotten my vote. Frankly, I found the cobbled-together design of all of those sets to be insulting. As MOCs, they would have been good enough, but as official TLC sets, thanks but no thanks. badger

Pics of the Agents Line
the enigma that is badger replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I'll second the call that Ken Adams be given due respect in regards to the Volcano Base set. I was a huge YOLT fan as a lad (I'd have to say From Russia With Love is now my favorite), and hopefully this TLC set captures the magic of that concept. Fingers crossed "Little Nelly" also finds her way into the set! badger -
Yes, Will's full name is William. Looking at the post, I believe I had done a bit of cut and pasting to tighten it up a bit and just forgot to clip that off. As for "William" rather than "Will", someone I'm close to also goes by "William" and occassionally I'll write William when I mean Will (and vice versa). It's hard to keep straight sometimes! Of course, I also like Hamlet (which brings yet another William into the conversation!) :-) badger

Sexual assault, genocide, and full frontal, bright blue nudity. Yep, that's got TLC written all over it. badger

New Story-based theme in 2009.
the enigma that is badger replied to Trionx's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'll add my crossed-fingers to the hopes this means a return to TLC Pirate sets. The statement is vague enough it could mean anything, but considering TLC has really gone back to its roots recently, here's hoping a continuing love and interest in Pirate sets has convinced the company the revisit that theme in some form. badger -
This is correct. Mold #3, which does include an M1 Garand was delayed due to some issues Will's molder had, but those problems have been resolved and the mold is rapidly approaching release. Here's a good shot of the upcoming BA M1 Garand in black with the BA monopod attached to the handle to demonstrate how the item can be held in a "pistol grip" manner: The BA M1 Garand will be available in both brown and black. badger

Brickarms weapons!
the enigma that is badger replied to Joey Lock's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That is a homemade MOC that was produced using the BA Thompson submachine gun and the drum clip from the TLC submachine gun. It is not anything that was produced by Will, although he also has made a similar MOC using existing BA parts. However, there is current discussion on the Brickarms Forums about a "Brickarms Reborn" mold that would feature modified versions of existing Brickarms items, including the 1928 "Chicago typewriter". Again, just to be clear, Will has never produced any drum-clipped Thompson submachine guns. badger -
I can assure you that this is not the case. As has been stated, these figures made in very limited quantities, and given the time, labor, and resources that went into their production, they will never be made available for sale again. One additional figure has been set aside for the brick auction at Brickworld, but this is the last time the figure will be available to the entire community. The only items that might see at least limited production are the scalpel and syringe, but even those would be produced solely on Will's home CNC machine in limited quantities. Both Will and myself highly value the good reputation Brickarms has garnered in the MOCing community and will never mislead or distort the truth about future plans Will has for Brickarms. badger

Will Chapman has put one of the limited edition Brickarms WWII Medic custom minifigs for sale on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=180214136126 Includes: * Tan Minifig with custom Medic torso & arm decals * M1 Helmet with custom red cross decal * Silver BrickArms WW2 M1911 Handgun * Silver BrickArms Scalpel * White BrickArms Syringe * Brown Medkit case with custom red cross decal * Brown Lego Satchel with custom red cross decal * Custom CNC cut, transparent acrylic mounting base * Blue snap case with transparent lid * Custom printed insert signed by the creator, Will Chapman Only 30 were ever produced, and given the work and time require for its production, this figure will never be made available again. So bid today to win this one of a kind custom showpiece! badger

Previously, Will had some very strong concerns that the type of molds he uses wouldn't be able to produce a sharp, crisp edge for swords and other edged weapons. However, as the new limited-edition scalpel shows, Will is indeed able to achieve a good edge, and while there are currently no specific plans for Brickarms edged weaponry, the ability for Will to design and mold them is certainly there. However, most of the swords you've mentioned here aren't really possible. The "wrap around" hilt of the cutlass you've pictured here isn't possible with the types of molds Will uses. As for the rapier, given the resulting accessory would essentially be a very long, thin, pointed piece of hard ABS plastic, there would be some serious safety issues associated with it especially since many purchases made from Will are gifts for younger builders. Heck, even I have managed to jab myself more than a few times on the sharper Little Armory items. It hurts! I'm really glad to see so much interest in future Brickarms activities and sorry I haven't been quite as active in this thread. If you want to talk about items you'd like to suggest to Will as things you'd like to see produced by Brickarms, the Brickarms Forums is the place to go. Another big thanks to all you Pirate fans for all the great feedback! badger
