Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a recent find with the history buffs here at Eurobricks. Being based in Denmark, I occasionally come across pieces from the "Wood Era," but I think this one is quite special.
It is an original LEGO Wooden Dog (model 215/a), which I believe dates back to around 1937. What struck me about this piece is the condition of the original pull-string and the construction of the wheels—it’s not often you see them this well-preserved after nearly 90 years.
I’m curious to hear from the experts here:
Based on the wheel design and the "LEGO" marking, can anyone confirm if this is the earliest 1930s version?
How many of these are still known to exist in private collections today?
I have decided to let this piece go to a new home to focus my collection elsewhere, so it is currently up for auction on Tradera. However, I would love to get some more historical context before it potentially leaves Denmark.
You can see the photos and auction details here: https://www.tradera.com/da/item/2944/717769514/lego-wood-dog-træhund-trahund-215-a-hund-ruharet-1937-rare
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this early piece of LEGO craftsmanship
