  2. Hi, Following @zoo suggestion, I made it in white with red rims and it is trully better this way. Also I worked a lot on the details of the bodywork and stiffen up strongly the bodywork. It is now finished and plan on releasing building instructions.
  3. Hi, I made an RC performance version of the car (that's always have been the project). I take your feedback and have successfully improved the front end by a lot ! (thanks to all contributor) The car being "wider" than it should, I made it so it feels like a racing bodykit. for now It is orange but I am looking to swap to a "raceier" color. I might need to get 3 party brick because the lego panel color is pretty limited. The car is powered by 2 buwizz motor, 1 servo and 2 motors for adjustable suspension height adjustement (independant front and rear). It is pretty fast and melts plastic, meaning that's enought. What are your thought ?
  4. Yes, I struggle to recreate the angle and attach point of the original. The main challenge was to align the wheel axle with the differential axle. Thanks ! I take note for a futur maybe improved version, thanks !

  6. Incredible ! I was also looking at this mechanism but didn't let it a go. It seems massive. Can't wait to see it in action ! I am a bit worried tho, since it is an asynchronous mechanism, how it will behave with the lego gear slack.
  7. thanks ! To get the general idea, in a multi link suspension each link allow you to control a rotation/translation of the wheel while being under compression (the camber/the toe and so on). The classic lego suspension design (double wishbone) does not allow this freedom, and is less performant for real car usage (but way enought for lego scale). It is not easy to replicate this in Lego, especially in a Lego scale. If you want to go deeper, nicjasno made nice video on YouTube covering the subject. I did not get my hand on it yet, but this part is so gifted. It would have influence the design significantly, however the car was already in its final design stage when the part was released.

About the suspension @bruh @2GodBDGlory I ended-up with a tripod configuration with the lower arm taking the load and giving the up and down movement, the upper arm giving the toe-in action and the middle arm just locking the camber angle (first picture for arm reference) The hard part was to line up the the wheel axle with the differential axle while keeping the toe in action. That's why I ended up with system parts in the build. Finally eagle eyed reader might spot a cut ball end. It also works without cutting it, but it's cleanner when cut. I might made a short video about it to show it in detail. About the bodywork @zoo You get it, it is both. I made the model using scaled real car blueprints, and excpet the A-pillar which goes further, the front/end/wheelbase are accurate to scale. I think that's how it translate to Lego. I beleive it needs some visual trick to make the proportion looks better, even it doesn't correspond to the "real" blueprint. With narrower front the car would look way less blocky I totaly agree, I made some design concession to fit the suspensions. Totally agree, and taking a closer look, I definitly see ways to improve it
  9. Hello, I was surprised I can't find any GT86 lego technic model despite being a very popular car, so here is my shot. Also this is my first time trying to make a technic scaled model It a manual 1:12 scale model featuring : -opening doors -full indepdent suspensions with rear multi link design with toe in dynamic like the real car -opening hood with easy swapable engine (for real tunner) -detailed interior with working steering wheel Below the video showcasing the model The most iconic factory color blue is unfortunately not feasible in LEGO, as key parts like the front wheel arches aren't available (yet hopefuly) in blue, not even from third-party brands. Fortunately, the GT86 also came in an OEM orange The model is slightly wider compared to true 1:12 scale, I needed to fit the rear suspension. I was especially keen on replicating the rear multi-link suspension system, though I wasn’t able to fully achieve it. Aligning the wheels with the differential while incorporating angled crossbeams was extremely difficult. Still, I managed to build an approximation : a hybrid solution using both System bricks and Technic parts. It looks much cooler than the basic LEGO double wishbone setup. The wheel toes in as the suspension compresses, just like the real car. The front of the car looks slightly flat compared to the real thing, but extending it by one stud actually made it worse. At least, I couldn’t find a satisfying in-between. That’s not the case at the rear, which turned out very close to the original and looks great (in my opinion) Instructions are on their way to rebrickable exemple of engine swap : Please let me know your thought on the model
  10. Thanks, mainly free will I guess ! It is more about the look and the weight rather than the stiffness. Also the 3D printes part holds very good on lego parts
  11. Since I want to make 4 wheel I would prefer to keep material rather than re-priting and losting my finger sanding the mold. I do want to DM you, but I can't since my account is too fresh. I have updated the design for the mold, and still have some doubt about how to mold the lips. edit : Also, is this panel fully carbon fiber ? it looks very nice !
  12. Thanks, I bought some pre-stabilised cloth for the next one. It will definitly be life changer. For the sleeve I did think of it. But I wasn't feeling to use those for my first carbon part. I will give it a go when I get more confortable with the process. Of course I should make a lego braiding machine making lego carbon fiber wheel ! Thank you very much, I do feel I can get a professional looking wheel within the next wheels
  13. Hello everyone, I like to make lego out of exotic material, and the time has come to tackle with carbon fiber ! I made this custom carbon fiber wheel for technic cars based on the 56mm D. x 34mm rim number 49294 This is my first time dealing with carbon fiber. Wise elderly would have advise me to start with an easier part (Lego or not) but I like the challenge. So my main goal was just to make it works. The wheel is not full carbon, I used a 3D printed insert to make the pin connections as I was not feeling it with carbon fiber. To make it real, I used a basic wet layer / 3D printed mold method, even though the mold design was not as straight forward as it appears. The first prototype is succesfully failed. The wheel works as intended but lots of things went wrong while building it. For exemple, the carbon fabric I used was not pre-cured, meaning the fabrics were falling appart while laying them. The mold was not well designed as some parts had to be destroyed rather than demolded. For the eagle eyeded one, you might have spot that the wheel is a mix between forged and sheets. This was not intended, I used the destroyed carbon sheets to "fill the gaps" between the pre-preg fabric as a hope for it to work, and it did the job very well despite I would have prefer a nice carbon pattern on the flange. Unfortunatly the wheel is heavier than the lego one. A part of the mold is stuck inside the wheel, adding weight to it. Testing were made on 1/10 car with Buwizz motors and the wheel is still standing strong ! From now I am working on a second version, much cleaner from start to end. My goals are to make a full set of lego carbon wheel, and of course, making them lighter than the lego one. For exemple, this RC chassis feature dynamic aero sync with a gearbox and adjustable stance on all 4 wheels (which does not affect the suspension hardness or the steering !) : Or a turbo mechanism with a wind up motor : I also like to make exotic custom parts like this metal 39790 frame : I post most of my technic creation my YT channel, I also enjoy lego city theme, as it is my childhood palyground
