  1. Thank you for your comments! It is much appreciated! I haven't made too many mocs so I am very much still a beginner. But sites like this certainly do give a lot of inspiration to try your own build. Yeah, I tried to put in a few stories in, although my photo skills leave a lot to be desired. I totally agree about the water. I think I will place an order on bricklink to get some different blue plates to potray the different depths of water and then tile off the water in a better way. Thanks for the advice! and the welcome :-)
  2. This is my first MOC post. I've always loved the Forbidden Island set, so I wanted to remake it using some more modern features and pieces. I hope I've managed to capture the key elements of the original. With these older sets, there's often a lot of interpretation involved when rebuilding them with modern bricks. In my interpretation, the stairs are built into the rock. It always seemed a bit odd that they led directly into the ocean, so I added a small dock, which makes more sense to me. The original structure was quite basic, mainly using grey/black and stone brick effects. I chose to reinterpret this as a combination of rock and wood. I built the jail cell into the rock face and decided that the dwelling at the top would be a wooden shack, crudely constructed from ship planks, and featuring palm leaves on the roof—just like the original. I reworked the island to feel like two distinct halves, making the bridge feel purposeful rather than decorative. There is a secret cave at the back that has a removable rock panel.
