[OFFICIAL] LEGO Icons 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship
MaxLaMenace replied to CloneCommando99's topic in LEGO Pirates
Well I was all for an Interceptor, but unfortunately, the Interceptor's crew is coming with the Pearl, and I highly doubt that Norrington and a couple of red coats would be as appealing to the masses as Jack Sparrow & Co... And that's probably also why Lego didn't give us the Pearl with Barbossa's crew (which is a pity, if you ask me). So we won't be getting an Interceptor anytime soon, I'm afraid -

May you be right! That would be wonderful! And it would be about time... It would be expensive, but probably not more than buying a whole wave of sets, at the end of the day. I suppose that, if we're lucky, the Flying Dutchman could be next, and this ship is looooong overdue, so getting it at this level of detail would be crazy. I for one would also love to get a new Queen Anne's Revenge. Just imagine the Revenge from Pirates 5, gold and "pourpre" everywhere ("pourpre" should translate into "purple", but it looks different to me...). Throw in a Barbossa minifig in his Pirates 5 regalia - which was totally skipped in 2017 - along with Murtogg and Mullroy, and... sorry, I'm getting carried away, but you see what I mean ;) Endless possibilities, a whole world to explore! -

I'm daydreaming but wouldn't it be cool to get a new cursed Barbossa in a new Isla de Muerta set, along with some of his crew members (who should have come with the Pearl...) like Bo'sun, Jacoby, Koehler and Twigg? Pintel and Ragetti could come in sets from Pirates 2 and 3 and... I know POTC will never get the Star Wars or Harry Potter treatment, but just imagine getting a new ship every year for the next five years (one per movie), plus one or two smaller sets. That would be awesome. Anyway, I'm afraid we'll never get THE ULTIMATE Barbossa, which should be a mix of the Fortnite version (hat piece, yellow sash, waistcoat, arm-printing) and this new version (grey frock coat). -

About that Barbossa minifigure... well the hat is not as horrible as I thought (still prefer the Fortnite version, but alright). A little bothered by the hair, though, but that might be nothing more than a matter of perspective. We'll see. Also the design of the torso and the legs turns out to be absolutely perfect. The only real problem is in fact the colour. I'm glad they went for a grey coat, this time, that's definitely more accurate, but where are the other colours? Everything's grey. The yellow sash (which is in fact present on the legs, if you look closely) is grey, the pants are grey, the boots are grey, the neck is grey. No other figure has such a lame colouring. Messing up a Star Wars minifig is OK, new SW sets get released every other day, after all, but POTC... it's been 8 years since the last set, 14 years since our last Barbossa minifigure, and it's 380 dollars, they're asking for! We have every right to expect flawless minifigs (not to mention dual-molded legs, leg-printing, the number of minifigs and the minig selection itself). To end on a more positive note, the ship itself is still very beautiful. Not perfect (especially the quarterdeck, many things missing there), but I'm really happy with it. I mean, look at that capstan, the anchors, the figurehead...! -

Mixed feelings, here. What we saw from the Pearl looks gorgeous: love the figurehead, pleased with the sails, there are some great details everywhere. The only thing I'm worried about is the cabin door/stair/helm section, because it doesn't look that accurate (at least for now, but I hope I'm wrong). As for the minifigs, well... most of them are splendid: Will, Elizabeth, Jack, and Marty. Gibbs and Anamaria look really good too. Cotton would be perfect if they had given him his vest, but OK, that's fine. Surprised to see that we get no Pintel, though. But... but... but Barbossa? What the hell have they done to him? The disappointment is as great as the expectations I had when looking at his Fortnite version (and I'm not easily diappointed). I had pinned all of my hopes on this minifig, and I really feel let down. It's not worthy of such an expensive set. The only good thing about this fig is that they finally gave him his grey frockcoat, rather than black. But the rest looks really dull - and the absence of the yellow sash is definitely not unrelated to that. His beard is almost in the middle of his face, and the hat piece is awful. The hair and the feather poorly integrate, and the hat is so small, so flat, so ridiculous. Did they even look at Barbossa's costume? I mean, the Fortnite design nailed it, the hat/hair piece was perfect. Why, Lego? Why? And I suppose we won't get a new Barbossa minifig before a veeeeery long time, which makes it all even more disappointing. So yeah, great ship, solid minifigs (even without leg-printing), except one... -

I'd say the minifigure selection isn't bad per se. In fact, it's great - but not for this set. Would've been better for an HMS Interceptor. The cursed crew is really a missed opportunity, even though I understand that Jack & Co are more appealing to the greatest number. Jack the monkey being Barbossa's sidekick, I don't think we will get him, at least not before Barbossa finally appears in a set (it's been 14 years since Barbossa's last appearance in a set even though he had a major role in PotC5, so it would be time). I'm also wondering how many sails the Pearl will get in this set, because it really contributes to the ship's silhouette. -

I hope you're right and that Barbossa will appear in an upcoming set sooner rather than later. He already has this fantastic Fortnite design which would be perfect for the revival of the theme. It would be a shame not to get him. We could still get Pintel and Ragetti in a remake of Isla de Muerta, should the set be based on Barbossa's speech, along with other crew members (but that's pure wishful thinking, I'll give you that). Or in a remake of Isla Cruces which could also include Elizabeth. But I think she'll appear in future sets, anyhow. And since her outfit is the one she has in the 2nd film, she would be perfect for a wave (fingers crossed) based on the second movie, with the Flying Dutchman as the flag set. That would indeed be perfect to get some new members of the crew of the Dutchman. I personally already have Maccus and Hadras and they look really great, so I'd love to see some other fish-people, like Clanker, Koleniko, Palifico, Penrod, Wyvern, Crash, Jimmy Legs, who all appear in the game as well (but once again, wishful thinking, I'm afraid!). I must say I'm not worried about what the Pearl will look like. As you said, the piece count is reassuring, it can only be better than the old Pearl, which was too tiny. I just hope that the whole stern (captain's quarters included) will look impeccable, with the 9 nine windows and the captain's table between the helm and the guardrail (if that's not asking too much ^^). -

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean's return is fantastic news, but I can't believe how poor the minifigure list is (for now?). 7 minifigures only? I mean, it's obvious PotC minifigures are loved. And we've been waiting for them for a loooong time. Plus, this new Pearl is clearly based on the first movie, so it beggars belief that Lego chose not to include Captain Barbossa, who captains the ship throughout the entire film (and was already disregarded for PotC5's single set, although spending more time on the Silent Mary than the three heroes), as well as Pintel and Ragetti. The rest of the cursed crew would have been great too imho, and most of them appear in the game (Bo'sun, Koehler, Twigg, Jacoby, Mallot, Grapple, Scratch, mainly). And a Black Pearl from the first movie was the best opportunity to get them. It's great to finally have Cotton and Marty, and Anamaria (who only appears for 30 seconds on the Pearl) comes as a real a surprise, but there were much more important and legitimate characters to include first, as has already been said. How can Anamaria be included and not Barbossa?
