IMO it has been happening for quite some time now, tlg simply produces way too many sets and other than big IPs doesnt excel at much. 3rd party brands are often specialised on specific themes and overall make better sets on their specific theme, with cada being the prime example of this

1:8 cars are meant to sit pretty on shelves, enjoy complex building techniques and play with the functions every once in a while. Among all the gimmicky functions, i can see myself taking the car for a spin around the house more often than playing with manual fanctions/gearboxes. Unless you live in a mansion the speed is good enough to have some fun with it and put a smile on your face
