  1. I don't know if I'd say it's less kid friendly then HP, at least not toy wise. Star wars has space ships, aliens, and what essentially could be described as glowing laser swords. You can also shoot stuff so there's plenty of action features. Kids go crazy over that type of stuff. With Harry Potter, which is more of a fantasy theme with a castle and magic, requires more imagination and can be seen as less exciting. As a kid I loved HP but didn't get many of the sets of the origional theme because I didn't find them exciting. To me the highscale play sets and buildible objects say more about what Lego thinks kids are interested in then popularity of Harry Potter. This theme is aimed at a higher age rage and as someone else said Lego has been broadening the demographics as evidence by the HP iconic objects D2C in 2021
  2. All kinds of things. There's the viaduct entrance, astronomy tower, and clock tower at the very least so they could do more than 4 years. The question does come to what they would include. I would think Lego would end up having to take some creative licenses for scenes where it's unclear where they take place or couldn't include in any of the sets. Either way there's a spot for the a connection of the viaduct entrance in the main tower ( it seems) and the artwork on the box might be pointing to an astronomy tower. Unless they do two parts of the castle next year, 4 years seems likely. It would be interesting to see. Maybe it'll give some insight to what they are planning for this castle.
  3. Not necessarily. If lego did go that route they would probably only rerelease the main parts and stagger the retirement dates so they release the parts of the castle that people still clamoring for and those that play ore of a minor role in between. Of course this speculation is based on lego being strategic and having a plan which hasn't been always the case with the Harry Potter theme (or others for that matter). Otherwise Lego's really worked themselves into a corner. Unless the sales drastically change they aren't going to retire this theme anytime soon as it was in the top selling themes of 2024. If they do another reboot of the castle it would likely need to be visually distinct and different but there is no great option. They can improve on the current design which would likely make it more expensive and alienate kids and collectors. Anything smaller, even if visually similar is going to be seen as inferior. Visual similarity, especially while sections of this current castle are currently still on shelves, would confuse parents and more casual fans. There's not much that could be done to make it look visually different without changing the appearance of Hogwarts; this is unlikely.
  4. I wouldn't think so. considering the two are owned by different companies. They would probably just rebrand marvel as it's own theme. It actually seems like Lego has already done that it lists Dc and Marvel as different themes on it's website and they dropped the superhero lable from the boxes in 2019
  5. They could... lets hope not.
  6. This is why I don't think this iteration is going to stop with 3 major sections in 2026. The Flying Lesson is going to have to be eventually attached and lego seems to care about the look of this castle more than that of the 2021 or 2018 iterations. I don't see Lego going through all the work to give a fairly accurate version at this price point just to stick a set on at the end that feels out of place. This iteration is obviously aimed at a slightly older demographic who likely wouldn't be happy if lego did something like that. What I hope happens is that Lego goes a similar route that it took with the death star and release a slightly updated version of the same Great Hall or one based off of different scene. Then they could keep this iteration around and continue to expand upon it. Besides, at this point there's really nothing new that lego could do with the castle that warrants another iteration. Where do you go after making what's been advertised as the most detailed version ever?
  7. My two cents is that the Lego going more expensive with this version with the castle is a result of them moving away from kids both with the harry potter theme and in general. Looking at this wave, over half of the sets aren't exactly kid friendly. The Main tower has been discussed in regards of budget but the others should be mentioned. The Book nook and thestle are made for display and functionality aimed at collectors. The phonix set while seemingly aimed at younger audience feels like a bunch of knick knacks to be put on a shelf. While the Monster Book of Monsters has the pull back function it's not what I would call a play set ( and the clipped pieces might pose problems to children). And it's not just Harry Potter that's going more display orientated. Marvel and Star wars have been doing a lot more buildable figures, helmets, and what would have used to have been play sets as display pieces. Same thing has been happening to Ninjago with the likes of the new legend sets. Not sure if it's because kids are playing with less toys but there has been a marketing shift and demographic ship in who lego is targeting sets to.
  8. Do you mean base as in the rock section or base as in the attached building. If referring to the rock section then the astronomy tower would have to be on top of the rocks to be on the same level as the other sets part of this hogwarts and match the aesthetics. If we're talking about the other building the comes with the main tower, I don't see the astronomy tower needing a second building. It's much more rectangular than the main tower and would more than likely be able to structurally support itself. If not having a second building attached the astronomy tower could easily be taller with around the same piece count and price of $260. Lego seems invested in this portrayal of the castle and for the price their asking, of the most detailed version ever, it seems unlikely that they wouldn't do justice for such a prominent building.
  9. I didn't mean to imply that she was old but could of worded it better. I have the opposite problem with Vernon. The actor was in his late 50s but Lego made him look like a 65+ year old man. Just want the characters to look like their film counterparts (unless it's otherwise stated that they are taking inspiration from different HP media). Yeah, I'm going to have to move this hogwarts to my kitchen table if they make the Astronomy tower (wouldn't have shelves tall enough).
  10. It seems to be the tallest harry potter set after gringotts. It's taller than the collectors burrow and the microscale Hogwarts.
  11. Sweet official pictures. Chomping Monster Book of Monsters: It's alright. I like the overall shape and design for the the rough edges. From a side profile though I think the previous one was better. Am intrigued by the pull back function though. If it can actually chomp on its own than it might actually be worth getting. Nevil is meh. Thestral Family: The baby looks horrible but the adult thestral looks pretty good. Really like how the head was built. Still a pass though (not getting any buildable creature after the disappointment that was the large Buckbeak). Dumbledore's Phoenix: Adult fawkes doesn't look that bad, not my cup of tea but better than the Hedwig in a similar style. The baby version is horrendous though and (besides the face print/sticker) the sorting hat looks like something that came out of the Phonix. Quality Quidditch Supplies and Ice cream parlor. It is a new piece for the nimnbus . As to the insides there isn't much going on in the ice cream parlor but its nice that they include seats. Love the inside of the Quality qudditich supplies. Feels busier then the D2C version. Only thing I don't like (and just noticed) is the gear on the outside. That has to go. Getting better look at the figures can't believe that brightened up Florean. Same out fit just brighter color. Herrbolgy: Not much to add. Love the back of it and closed up look. Could get a second and push them against each other. 4 Privite Drive: I'm. so glad they included a regular Marge beside the blown up version. All the figures look good except for Petunia's face. Not only the smile but also the lack of wrinkles. I mean the actres was in her late fourties when POA released. It's cool that they included both Dudley's bed room and his spare (aka Harry's). I wish there was more room inside so that the table wouldn't double as the kitchen counter but that's a small nit pick. Main tower: All I can say is wow. The box doesn't do the set justice for just how massive it actually is . In love with it.
  12. More sets have been officially revealed and still no Harry Potter
  13. Just saw the official pictures and interiors on brickset. Peter Parker's Apartment : Okay it's quite shallow but Lego utilized the space pretty well with his microsope, camera development area (?) and fold down bed. It feels quintessential peter parker and cheap New York apartment. The references are nice and love that Pete can be upside down with Marry Jane below. What a delightful callback. Oscorp: The interior of the buildings feel empty in comparison. Most of the rooms don't have much going on such as Gwens little apartment. Love Eddie's Brock room and like how two of the room's are dedicated to Norman's goblin activities. It's nice that the goblin glider can be stored and the play function to switch Norman into the goblin, while simple, is well incorporated. It does confirm that this is another Norman Ozborn goblin which makes the decision to go with Harry's ultimate goblin look. The figure looks great though. Love Kraven's torso. As far as reusing the Doc Strange face, I don't mind it. Honestly the face bears more more of a likeness to a comic Kraven the Hunter than Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor strange. Quinjet: Now that there's a better look at the figures Ultron and quicksilver look great. Love their designs. I don't know how I fill about the hair piece they chose for Quicksilver though. The piece they used in 2015 better suited the character. Spiderman train: I didn't notice that Spiderman's suit is torn or that he has a new face print. Love the figure even more. They didn't cheap out there which is a nice change ( especially considering Lego's track record as of late) This wave is great. Just too expensive. It's to early to say this is a comeback.Lets not jinx it.
  14. Oh okay. It really sucks about the helment though. Are thir pictures showing the interiors? I've looked on reddit and instagram. Can only find exterior shots.
  15. Oh that's awesome then. Overall the set has a couple new pieces and it seems that the skirt piece for the flower is molded in a new color. As far as the price of the set goes I will say that I prefer lego over charging for a set when it has new specialized pieces over what's happening in other themes where sets are a good $30 more than they should be and there's very little effort. Just saw the new advent calender. Overall not a fan. The sweaters are cool, and I'm glad each house gets two, but the builds don't do it for me.
