Finally, the build is done and now I can move onto the next project ! Happy to answer any questions on this...

Here a few more screens of changes, updates this week. This is great to have sat around that I can just go and tinker with when I get an idea - every step getting closer to being finished... This is my attempt to make the edges of the build a little less edgey by adding some slopes. This is also down on the lower half... We know that this is not real and if you were to use this as a play object you would just move your figures around, however it bothered me that there was no real way to get to the basement, this is now solved... The control room is starting to be populated, this is taken purposely at an odd angle to hide something for the final reveal which I hope will be kinda cool. The original build had no walls on either side of the trash compactor, you can see the right hand side one on my first post - bottom picture. This is the left hand wall - slots in place to hold the bullets for the gun that fires... I decided to use the very top part of the atrium, here is the view from underneath. Still pleased that it is very high so glad this worked out... The purpose of the new area is to have a storage area for the naughty people. This leads to a raised platform you can see the commander standing on in the control room - so a door was punched through... This guy is waiting for some equipment to be delivered in his room, he has big plans. His name is Paul.

Many thanks ! It was a brave decision and to be honest - if I knew then what I know now - I would have approached the build differently. The second picture shows it modular, it's now done a bit better and certinally more tidy than how I did it before. I find new techniques for making as I go ! I'll post some more pics end of the week - I have this sat behind me and it's a great little hobby to just go and tinker with and improve as ideas come. Thanks for replying on this. :)

A brief background of this build - I run a YouTube channel ( Gentlemen's Pixel Club ) that has recently re-discovered Lego due to a compo on the channel - beyond this, the channel is retro gaming related and there is no common ground here. ...as some background for the channel mention, my missus likes puzzles and standard flat cardboard puzzles are boring. I needed to do a compo on the channel and had to be puzzle related it ended up involving Lego, this is when the problem started. I remembered as a kid loving Lego, that and Star Wars figures were my "go to" toys. While setting up the compo I figured let's go into the loft and get the historic bags of Lego out. The next thing I was doing - was wishing I'd brought the Lego Death Star when my son was growing up for a model for myself - too late now - they are stupidly expenensive, then I thought what if ? What if I was to build a MOC of a Death Star using as a base the online instructions you can get ? MOC was a recent word I had learnt in relation to Lego. So the journey begins, no official set - and something that I have decided to theme as Death Star MOC - The Peace Moon. A space station for a more peaceful time. I am now two weeks into the journey having had to source some certain bricks, this is where we are now. For the build, I wanted it to be modular for ease of access to change things and also access. The model can be split into three large pieces by removing two clips. To do this, the floors needed to be built as one single piece. The fully assembled but little furnished model looks like this. Things to share so far... This is no longer a Death Star in this MOC, it is a Peace Moon - so ease of access needs to be had - we have an airlock. Hatch piece sourced from a Lunar Module set I got cheap on eBay. The atrium has a viewing window to look at people below, for both passages, you can only see the top one, we have bridges that are removable. A slightly more narrow view before I moved the windows together. The trash compactor now has the space to put a figure in the room at the back behind the sliding door. Both sides of the trash compactor have solid walls to seperate the trash compactor from the side rooms. Hope you have enjoyed this little journey into my second week of building. I will never own a real Lego Death Star, but this one with a few modifications will be mine - thanks to Lego for posting the build guide and thank you to you for viewing so far !
