Somehow the X-Wing/Tie-mash-up seems to become a better deal when going on discount before Christmas.

I really like the shape, and I also like the decision to include multiple dioramas. I'm still unsure if I'll get the DS. "Unfortunately," I already have all the dioramas (Final Duel, Trash Compactor, Meditation Chamber), so there aren't many reasons why I absolutely need the DS... And of course there is also the question of how to display it, a case case costs 200 Euro.

Christmas AT-AT is already sold out! Such a nice set at a decent price.

After reading a few reviews, I have to say: Yes, the DS thrives on compromises. I still like it. I only collected LSW from 1999 to around 2007/8 and had nothing to do with the brand after that. The dioramas brought me back two years ago, but I only collect those and the Starship collection. That probably makes me exactly the target audience for the new DS. Spending, for example, €850 on a single AT-AT or the Falcon would never occur to me. Is the DS perfect for $1,000? Absolutely not. I also don't believe excuses like the one regarding dual-molded legs, which I've already ordered on PaB. The question is the price. Can you expect a significant discount in the coming months, or should you say: $1,000 is still $1,000, and you take the GWP and have time to build over Christmas. Speaking of building: How do you rate the availability of Plexiglas boxes? Without dust protection, the thing won't last long, especially with so many stickers.

I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. As a fan of the diorama series, this is the ideal implementation for me. Two questions remain: How will the price develop? And how can this model be protected from dust?

If there is really a Turbo Tank coming with such a small amount of pieces, what could that mean? That Lego wants to establish a second form of microscale models after limiting itself with the label Starship Collection? Since Lego seems to be increasingly targeting the 18+ age group, it would make sense to focus on vehicles as well as spaceships.

I agree with some of the opinions here. When I think back to when I started with LSW, the situation looked like this: I was just seven years old in 1999 when TPM came out. In the summer of 1999, I flew to Florida for three weeks, where everything was Star Wars branded. It was like paradise for a little boy from Europe. Whether it was the toys at Pizza Hut or large parts of the Lego store at Disney World, Star Wars has stayed with me ever since. Even though as an AFOL I can no longer do anything with the sets from back then because I don't have the space and now only collect dioramas, the midi-scale ships and the Brickheadz and now C3PO and R2-D2. But how did I start collecting? In the end, it was the very small sets with one or two main characters: I still remember my very first sets very well: The speeder bikes on Endor with Luke and two scouts, the duel between Qui-Gon and Darth Maul, the chase in the forest with Jar-Jar and Qui-Gon. These were all very cheap sets where it was primarily about the characters. Because the ‘trees’, which didn't even look like trees, were irrelevant. It was a similar story with small sets like the door in the Lucrehulk, the Endor-Luke on the bridge or the door of Jabba's Palace with Bib Fortuna. These sets no longer exist today, but they were a great way to collect figures for a small amount of money.

As I started collecting the dioramas (and midi-scales) back in August, I needed to buy Vader's meditationchamber second hand to complete it. Got it for only 30 €, as there were no figs included. So I had to buy the strange Vader-Robot to get a new Vader and some replacement parts for the chamber. Own some Vaders back from 1999 onwards (including the chrome one), but obviously the design changed duringe the last years. Veers seems to be quite expensive on bricklink, so the chamber is gonna be displayed with one from 2010, should be the magnet one.

As we are expecting two Midi-scale sets in the first half of 2024, we heard about the Tantive IV and the Falcon, maybe there are still only three slots for these sets. The third one would be the podrace-diorama. Which would be sad of course, as this would mean that we don't see any 18+-set with minifigures. Still hoping for the Tantive IV boarding diorama.
