Hello, this is my first post on eurobricks aswell as in a eb contest, ive used eurobricks for some time but only as a guest, so I'm farmilliar with these contests.
So, the set I've chosen is the 9395 Pick-up tow truck:
It features:
Drive with fake v6
Hog steering
Retractable winch and "rear fork" controlled by gearbox inside.
I will try to incorporate all these functions in my model
Since i usually scale my models after wheels and use them as a starting point, I will be using the 49.5x20 wheels which makes my model about 20% smaller, not a lot but a shrink nevertheless. I could also use the thinner variant of the wheels which resemble the proportions more accurately, however I don't own these so I'd have to order from bricklink, but since I started so late they might not come in time, although I'm 99% sure I'll have to order some parts anyways.
So, this is the progress from last night:
I'm quite happy with the progress so far, but this is only a prototype and not much will likely stay the same for long, the hood looks very tall, but according to my questionable math it should be about right. But I'll probably end up making it thinner or moving it further down, although i currently don't have a lot of space under the hood for the engine, so I'll see what I can do about that. The gearbox might be possible to fit, but I could also just use two different mechanisms, and just leave the controlling lever in the cabin out. But that's not really staying true to the original, is it?
