MOC: That's not a knife... THAT's a knife.
Cave Bear replied to Yatkuu's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Very funny, I remember that movie well, it might not be 100% accurate but hey it's still a great little moc! -
Thanks for the comments everyone! And Stinch you have to consider that a lego minifigure isn't a perfectly scaled down human being they are completely different shapes so the tank can't fit the figures exactly and while I don't know everything about the Tiger and I'm not going to pretend I do, the kit seemed fairly accurate compared to the one in the museum at bovington one of the first things I did when I got it was compare the two to the photos and the two seem pretty similar, the kit is as close as you could probably get in lego form. Thanks again for the comments though!

Thats a well balanced opinion meyerc thank you, I do look upon the kits I own as a collectors item and not as any normal lego kit and while as I live in the UK I have never met the designer I have spoken to him on the phone a few times and have read a lot about what they do and he seems really nice. It isn't him being greedy, it's his job he has to make a living and if people want the kits he can sell them to them and while no they aren't cheap that isn't the point it fills a market that hasn't been filled well before.

Sorry about the image sizes I'll get them correctly sized in the future. Thanks for the comment but I don't feel I have been ripped off as I have neither the time, bricks nor ability to make one of my own I wanted a tiger tank so I bought one with my money and am very pleased with the result it is what I wanted and its what I got and yes some kits I do feel are overpriced such as the SAS jeep as you say surrideo it would be an easy enough build from the eye but a kit like this would be a lot harder to make and the inside, wheels etc are very complicated, it wouldn't be possible to make from the eye.

Yeah it was quite a dent in the wallet but don't worry, I'll review some of the cheaper ones eventually, I've ordered myself the $100 chaffee and when it arrives I will review it here on eurobricks.

Oops sorry I forgot to say! Well as it has now been archived it is unable to purchase but I believe that it was around $385.

I bought myself this for christmas and it arrived on christmas eve! I built it on boxing day and have finally gotten round to reviewing it so here we go. To start what it looked like in real life. And onto the kit The box for this one is larger than the panther tanks box but it is all filled with the parts and wastes no space whatsoever. The build took a while and was a fair bit more complicated than the panther tank but was very enjoyable and I saw many techniques I haven't seen before leading to a fun build. Included in this kit are 4 figures although unlike the panther they do not have decals, the 2 figures sitting in the hull have just plain black bodies so I didn't take a photo of them and the 2 in the turret have what I assume is a star wars imperial officer torso which is a shame after the great decals included in the panther and for a more expensive kit you would expect more detail on the figures not less. So there it is complete and it looks very good. It towers over figures and the detail is superb. Again a shot of the back and again the back is very detailed. This is how the tank looks with all the hatches open which is a nice touch that I think adds to playability or display ability of the tank and again the engine of the tank is very detailed. Just like the panther tank the 2 crew members can rest in or outside of the tank and the other 2 can only rest in the turret. And finally what some people might think as a highlight to the kit, the V1 brick arms mg34 prototype I think it fits very well on the tank but I wouldn't really mind if the kit came with or without it as it will be released some day for everyone to purchase. So, the scores Price: For a kit of this detail, in primarily tan bricks and all the work that must have gone into it I thought it was reasonably priced but for someone who doesn't have the kit will probably think it's very overpriced so 8/10 ( It cost $385.) Parts: I felt the parts were very good in this kit as it is in an accurate colour and is very consistent so I think it deserves 9/10 Playability: Very fun to play with, I would know with all the detail and opening hatches turning turret etc I think its very playable 9/10 Figures: The only disappointment I felt of the kit, as 4 figures with accurate decals would have perfected the kit but still you can buy them yourself from somewhere and apply them yourself so not a complete loss 7/10 And the total is 33/40 again, a very good model only let down buy its price and the figures if you want it buy it!

REVIEW: Brickmania Panther Ausf. A tank.
Cave Bear replied to Cave Bear's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well at the moment it's being sold at brick mania for $355 although when I bought it it was a bit cheaper. The brickmania kits really aren't cheap but the detail and quality of the kits can't be beaten and if thats not in your price range there are several other kits available for a cheaper price. http://www.brickmania.com/kits/kits-detail.php?intResourceID=1&intNumRecordsPerPage=25. I bought myself the tan tiger tank for christmas and will review it in a few days, I really recommend getting a kit it you can afford it, Im really interested in WW2 but lego will never make sets of it thats why brickmania kits appeal so much to me. -
Wow, nice haul there I hope you put them to good use the chakram is my favourite piece of them all though you just can't beat tron!

REVIEW: Brickmania Panther Ausf. A tank.
Cave Bear replied to Cave Bear's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah it would probably be the main thing I would change if I had the skill to, but they still look ok on it and I hope you don't mind Rufus but Im going to review some more Brickmania kits in the next few days I brought some for myself for christmas and their just begging to be reviewed . -
(Before I start to review I would just like to apologise if this review isn't very good or perfect it's my first review and Im not very good at computers so I've probably done something wrong please don't be too critical ) I have always admired this tank ever since I saw one many years ago at the bovington tank museum and always wanted a lego one so it was an obvious purchase when I found out Brickmania made and sold one and while this exact kit isn't available right now one very similar with side skirts is. First of all a photo of the real thing. And now, my review of the kit. The box shows the kit very clearly and isn't wasteful of space the kit filled up the entire box, as I am reviewing this post build I don't have and shots of the build but it was an enjoyable build the only bit I didn't like was the repetitive nature of the wheels but it makes it look better in the end and without the ones chosen it wouldn't have been as accurate. There are three figures included in the kit and they each have a decal that is very well applied and are accurate for the kit. Here is how the tank looks when it is complete and it looks very grand I am very pleased with how it turned out. The back of the tank is also very accurate and I was surprised how much detail was added for just the back alone. This picture shows the engine which you can view by opening a hatch on the kit, it's a nice little detail and adds to the authenticity of the kit. Two of the figures can fit both inside the tank and rest half in and out as shown in this photo and the tank commander in the turret can only rest in the turret. And finally one of my favourite parts of the kit is how you can add to the model and make it unique, on mine I have added the mg-42 on the turret and some more spare track at the front to make it look more like his classic panther tank. and the scores: Price: It certainly isn't cheap but it is intended for collectors, if you want it and have the money spare go for it! 8/10 Parts: A wide range of parts included although mostly in the same colour and some form of a camouflage scheme would have been nice. 7/10 Playability: I wouldn't give this to a child but it does have lots of fun things opening hatches moving treads, moving turret and the sort. 9/10 Figures: 3 simple but very accurate figures with well applied decals. 9/10 So to end the review I give this kit a 33/40 a very good and accurate kit but it could have had a little more variety.

Very nice, futuristic looking. I look forward to more!

That was a good read, thanks for the link although I do wonder how they got pictures of some of those prototypes especially those atlantis figures. I think it's really interesting to see how things have changed from prototype to production it shows how much revisions they go through for each set.

Thanks zenn, you don't know how long I've wanted to know more about this thanks for answering!

A few months ago before I became a member I can remember somewhere in this part of the forum finding about a cancelled lego theme set in like an underwater planet that was cancelled before any sets were released although there was a photo of the prototypes. I would really like to find more about it or if it was just some hoax or what. Sorry if this is in the wrong place or if I'm completely wrong but hey, maybe someone knows something.

Some of my personal favourites now in lego form. A really great job, flygon looks really cute in brick form. :P
-
pinioncorp those are some amazing islands I really like the snowy area :P, how long did it take to make it all?
-
Delta I agree with you on the figure, unique boxy legs arms and body with a blocky head would be great but I would only like it if it was the same size as the normal figures. Anyway I would kill for a lego mine craft line it would be amazing. They could sell different biomes sets like the different heroica games and could sell little battle packs with a player, creeper, skeleton, zombie, (maybe an enderman), some animals and a few printed tools. Well that's just me dreaming but you get the idea. Anyone have an exact day full release is happening I haven't downloaded the 1.9 prereleases but I can't wait to use snow golems as sentries to my base.

Collectable Minifigures: Feeling the Packets
Cave Bear replied to Jedi master Brick's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Even if you don't feel the packets someone else already has, my local WHS has one box of the latest series the moment they come out then when hats gone they get in 2 of the previous and more of the new won't come in for a few months. I feel the packets to get what I want as I won't have much chance to get what I want otherwise and I also don't have a great deal of money spare to waste on getting the ones I don't. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Cave Bear replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I hope that they do get appo into the show some how would be a good contrast between him and rex but more on topic Im just getting more and more fed up with the show, season 3 was terrible after the first 2 episodes the fact that the clone wars had barely any clones made it boring and I really just can't be bothered with season 4 it's just getting annoying the fact that always in the end the good guys win they might lose at the beginning but suddenly turn it around and win it's just repetitive and I really want to see some separatist long term victories and some good episodes that I don't want to cringe every second. -
Do you ever make ANY bad creations AC? I just can't help but love this little scene I don't know what it is about it, the dirt on R2 D2 is a nice effect.

Very nice Im looking forward to seeing the end product, will there be more shots of the city at different angles?
