    In case anyone else comes across this thread whilst googling, since this was the only place I found which detailed the exact same scenario I had. I ended up contacting Lego support and they've sent me a pre-paid return note and will replace the hub free-of-charge. They've said it is faulty. If there is any other way of fixing this, I'd be glad to hear about it.
