  1. OK so it took a few days (busy), but I 'lowered' the mandibles a bit. I would like to have them flow into the main body of the ship better, but I am at a loss as to how to accomplish that. Here's a shot (not mine) of the original (for reference) I made a few 'special' modifications myself... I am happy with it and this is how it shall stay...looks much better on the shelf than the original IHMO...
  2. Yeah, I'm not going for exact accuracy here. I am simply trying to mod it to look a little better sitting on the shelf. Yes a smaller cockpit is more accurate, but if I get that picky, I might as well scrap the whole thing and make my own. (Lego did a much better job than I ever could.) I'll try to redo the mandibles tonight and post up.
  3. I apologize for not putting a pic of the original up...ran out of time last night. I agree they could be one plate shorter...I'll try that this evening. The cockpit is what it is, so i'm just improving anything else I can. As for parts, I used a bunch of parts from 7657 At-St. Basically I put spacers in to raise the height and greebled to fill in gaps...very advanced techniques here...:)
  4. Hello, I'll start by saying I have never modded an official Lego set...so judge me with that in mind;) I love the new Falcon, but like many, I'm not a huge fan of the mandibles. I think they are a little long, but they also look like they could be beefier. (height wise) They make the otherwise awesome set look a little...lacking. I had some time and decided to make an attempt at making them look better. I very much dislike the front and didn't do anything to address that. Do you think they are too high now? Thoughts? What have any of you done to mod the mandibles? Any good suggestions?
  5. Wish I could find some of those Hoth BPs...all have been gone for weeks around me. I did pick up a Slave 1 for 39.99 and a used (but basically brand new) 7965 for $60! All figs, box, and instructions. Booyah.
  6. Nice Hollander! Love the look. Just got around to opening the Tantive IV you sent, thanks! Keep up the amazing creations!
  7. Small purchase, but I found a 30053 at target for $1.19. Booyah. EDIT 11/7: Went to a different Target today to see if they were also clearancing the impulse bags. Sure enough the Ninjago 30080, the Atlantis 30042, and the Republic Cruiser 30053 were all market down...to .39! Picked up 9 Ninjago, 4 cruisers, and 1 atlantis for a whopping $5.86 after tax. According to the recipt I saved $50.40. Woot!
  8. Great review! Love the comparo shots w/ source material and previous versions. That top comparison shot w/ the essential guide schematic (although pointed out maybe not 100% accurate) blows me away how close it is. The cockpit is obviously too big, but totally understandable move considering it needed to be big enough to carry a couple of the protagonists. From the top view, the only thing I am dissappointed in, as you pointed out, is the awkwardly long mandibles. Thanks for the review...can't wait to open mine up (when the time is right)
  9. Enjoying a snow day..

  10. Thank you Hollander! Whenever you have time to send me the file is fine...no rush. Have a good day.

  11. I picked up the other two winter (obviously Christmas) sets not long ago. Love the series but really wish they continued the all-snow roofs with this one.
  12. I am loving the 'dirty' sandtroopers. What a fail though to not have a dewback.
  13. I'd love a small Tantive IV, B-Wing, and MF....I don't care what crappy planet it comes with..I'll buy it. :)
  14. I don't know if this is rude or looked down upon, but I would love instruction/parts list for that tantive IV. Can you PM on here?
  15. I just gotta say the new sandtroopers are amazing. LOVE the 'dirty' look. We desperately need a new Dewback!
  16. Where is said stackable 20% off coupon?!?!
  17. I like it! Unique use of brick..
  18. Picked up the new Falcon (my first falcon of any size) for 25% off at Toysrus! Also, because of a LEGO messup (wrong directs in box), I just received 20019 as a 'sorry' gesture. Sweet!
  19. Lego left out half the instructions for my AT-AT. Then they sent me 8043s instructions instead of 8129s. I called today to again request the correct instructions. They were very apologetic and offered to send me this Slave 1 as a good faith/sorry gesture! Can't wait to get this little set! (apparently they still have quite a few Slave 1 and Bounty Hunter (CW?) mini ships still sitting around waiting to be handed out..)
  20. I have had this set for awhile and just got around to building it. I had to register to defend this iteration of the AT-AT. I understand quite a few on here have 4483, and this version hasn't changed much, but there has been much negative feedback on this model that seems somewhat over dramatic. This version looks great! I wish it had the printed pieces of the old one, but other than that, this one looks pretty darn accurate for a non UCS model. Compared to 10178, whose main redeeming quality is the novelty walking ability, this model is way more accurate. I know people wanted to see an AMAZING upgrade from 4483, but that one was pretty darn good to begin with. It was also released 8 years ago. (smack dab in the middle of my dark ages.) I am glad they came out with 8129. It's perfect for people who didn't want the somewhat ugly walking 10178 and weren't able or around to pick up 4483.
