  1. That sentence says it best. Considering LEGO is 90, we should expect generational splits in the LEGO media as we do in music media being a prime example. Rock in the 1960s is not the same as the 1990s as the 2020s. I did click Roebuck's link and it brought up a good point. I don't think LEGO thought about the generational splits and I'm certainly NOT Gen Z.
  2. More a "kinda". Galaxy Explorer was late 1970s but the 1980s saw 1983's 6980 Galaxy Commander- w/ lots of transparent blue followed by the 1986 6985 Cosmic Fleet Voyager. Just when I see the 70816, I don't think of it as a homage to one single set but three "large" Space sets within 10 years.
  3. No shame asking. Those were the themes I started with when I got into LEGO. I'm a GenXer but even I still remember the Castle and Pirate themes didn't really get off until the 1980s in the USA. Probably a "Round 2" thing but if Universal Building Sets like the 901 or Technic (Then called "Expert Builder" in the US) were listed one of those would have been my choice instead of Train.
  4. Stuck with the classics. But that's what happens when you've been building since the 1970s...
  5. Been out of the LEGO arena the last few years doing caregiving for a parent but things have dramatically changed. I have not been in the dark ages and was buying sets but the heavy burden of caregiving meant I couldn't build those sets. I can finally get around to building to building them soon. Worse still was my last real big MOC build happened Summer 2014. Good news is I have an idea in the works and expect to have it built by mid Summer 2021. Was on another AFOL heavy social media platform "that-shall-not-be-named" but decided to leave it permanently 31-12-2020. Had bookmarked and browsed Eurobricks from time to time and decided it's time to join in to get something like I got in the days of LUGNET. Oh, yes, I was a regular there 20 years ago. PLAY WELL
