  1. We haven't done a reboot of the firmware, but it works when we turn it on with the control app. No problems yet. Lego Customer service didn't seem to indicate that the purple piece was anything more than a visual aid.
  2. It works fine without the magenta piece.
  3. Well, after calling Lego Customer service we determined something was wrong with their build or the motor. We did it correctly. The Magenta piece has no purpose other than to serve as an indicator. So, we excised that vestigial organ. The other option is to rotate that Magenta piece 90 degrees counterclockwise from the instructions. You shouldn't use so many exclamation points in a Lego Forum. Too loud and scary.
  4. So, I ended pulling the magenta piece that was getting obstructed and replaced it with a spacer and it works now.
  5. Thanks for the link and tips. All the best.
  6. Yes, this is what happens when we try to raise the dumper. We tried re-installing the app to no avail. How do you force the firmware update? Do you suppose it's an issue with the hub? If so, I guess we should contact lego customer support and see what they can do? We have the Dune Buggy control+ technic and it operates smoothly. Granted, it is a more simple set-up. Thank you
  7. Here is a link to my Brick safe page which contains a video of the dumper trying to engage. https://bricksafe.com/pages/VermontDave
  8. In manual and automatic transmission, my gears do as you say: 1st gear 3 o’clock to 3rd gear 9 o’clock, counterclockwise. It tries to go to 6 o’clock clockwise from 1st gear, but now I see an obstruction. On step 15, 2 grey beams of length 9 are installed. The upper beam is the obstruction to clockwise rotation to 6 o’clock from 3 o’clock. We have the orientation of the orange gear correct from step 42. Step 77 shows how the grey beam obstructs our movement. My son thinks the gear should rotate counter clockwise to get to 6 o’clock. Is that what is suppose to happen? He thinks it’s the motor or hub not communicating correctly and thus causing the mis-rotation.
  9. My son and I are having trouble with the dumper shift. Gears 1,2, and 3 all work, but when we try to engage the dumper, it doesn’t seem to fully catch. It switches for a second and then reverts back without engaging. Any ideas? My son thinks it’s a problem with the shifting motor.
