Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
MischiefManaged replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
The Advent Calendar has some really cool prints and certainly seemsm to hint at what may be coming next year. Also, it is stated that it is going to be a game, so it makes sense that it really seems to be covering Harry and his journey to Hogwarts as part of the Anniversary wave. While I am not totally sold that there are still to be revealed "secret" Aug sets, I would be pretty excited if that was the case! I am definitely ready to put books 1 & 2 to bed for a while as it relates to sets. Plenty of material to cover from 3-7. Perhaps this is where we get a Leaky Cauldron that depicts the scene where Arthur asks Harry about Sirius? A Gryffindor Common room with Sirius in the fireplace for the castle section AND/OR Divination classroom(easily made to be modular to match the rebooted style). A shreking shack with a new Lupin werewolf mold. Then you have a new 2nd task set with Mer People. A new Durmstrang ship. A Quidditch world cup set. I think that would be a great 2022 along with a new Advent Calendar. 2023 could add in Umbridges office, Motorized Hogwarts Express and Hogsmeade Station, #12 Grimmauld Place, Courtyard with fountain that Fred & George always keep messing with, CMF serieis 3, Some FB related sets, advent calendar 2024 brings in a new D2C Knockturn Alley + Gringotts, Hogs Head Pub, Covered Bridge section of Hogwarts, Boat House, Owlry, Bill & Fleurs Wedding tent, Forrest of Dean (or any random Harry Ron, Hermoine campinghiding spot), 7 potters leaving Privet Drive 2025 brings Malfoy Manner, Battle for Hogwarts, Forbidden Forrest, Ministry of Magic Ok, a lot of wishful thinking but I do think not totally unrealistic... What do you think is missing or has zero chance of happening?? -

People seem very down on the D2C and while it might not be set to minifig scale it could be really cool... If it was a buildable Hogwarts trunk filled with each Horcrux and a minifig to match, I bet people would be pretty stoked to get something like: Tom Riddles Diary + Basilisk Fang w/New Tom Riddle or Voldemort fig Ring w/Dumbledore and a black hand fig Cup w/Bellatrix fig Locket w/Mundungus and/or RAB fig Diadem w/Grey Lady fig Nagini (similar to new basilisk) and a Battle damaged Neville w/Sword fig Then perhaps toss in a Rememberall or time turner or some other items... at a large pricepoint, it wouldnt be out of line to get a bunch of figs to go with the objects. It could be a really cool set. -

I am still on the fence about all of this brickbuilt sets/rumors... I think if it was a large scale size Harry's trunk with various artifacts it could look very cool as a display piece. I LOVE that Lego is trying to stay relevant and keep trying new ways to use what is ultimately a very simple toy. I just hope that as they try new things, they are very nimble and flexible with making decisions about what works and what doesnt. I have pretty much every set since the 2010 wave and have not really disliked any of the sets from the 2018 wave forward but did skip thre brickheads and the art sets as they are just not my thing... I think the anniversary year is a great way to test out a lot of new styles and builds since it can easily be written off as done for a purpose and then not duplicated if indeed it is not well received. I am definitely looking forward to the anniversary sets and gold figures even if it would require some adjustments and mmodifications. I sort of feel like that is the whole point of Lego... they give us a starting point and allow us to make it exactly as we want which is amazing if you actually stop to think about it! As far as the HP theme being compared to SW or Marvel / DC sets, we get a lot less HP comparatively and frankly I am glad for it... The buildable helmets are fine for SW or Super heroes but would translate horribly to HP and those Avengers mech set things are just horrible. I really like the minifig scale builds and can appreciate the hedwig style sets as standalone display pieces. I also think the theme has much more ability to stay fresh as an evergreen theme... So many sets left to be built: MoM, Grimmald Place, other side of DA + Leaky Cauldron & Gringotts, Knockturn Alley, more Hogsmeade, Shrieking Shack, Wedding tent, anything Hogwarts DH related (bridge ,courtyard, etc) GoF sets (Ship, Lake Tasks etc). Also could sprinkle in buildable obects such as: Horcruxes, Remeberall, broom, howler, wands, the radio used in DH for DA's army to broadcast (more prevalent in the books), snitch, time turner, etc. All of these spread out over a 5 or 6 year period mixed with another CMF set would be great and FAR FAR better than another grey spaceship or cheezy version of a bad a** super hero. Just my $0.02 on a rainy day in Western New York. Have a great day! -

Aside from the Goldemort fig they were all the original figures and the print on the back that says "20th Anniversary"... -

I think the Golden figs are pretty cool as a nod to the original wave and a neat bonus. Not likely to incorporate in to the sets but could be used as background statues or something in a MOC. I am envisioning a stand aloen little tribute using the gold figs or something along those lines. Still just excited to see some real pics of all the June Aug sets and how they will all fit together. Hoping the D2C is a MoM, GP or motorized Express with Hogsmeade Station... The rest of DA would be great too -

I readily admit it wont happpen, but the 1 set would be a street level building. Easily can be added at the end of the current DA set. The second set would be carts/rails, vaults, dragon and an atrium type area where the dragon is kept chained up. This would be a LONG set that ran the length of both the DA set AND the new Gringotts building. It makes both new sets standalone if desired but allows for greater world building and enhancemment to the DA set as well. -

Best case would be (i know this is a pipe dream for a LOT of reasons, but still): 1. $249 D2C Ministry of Magic with Prophecy room, long corridor with flu network, large open atrium, Court room 2. $119 Gringotts Building to add to DA set 3. $59 Underground Gringotts pt 1 with Dragon, Vaults that all fits under DA 4. $39 Underground Gringotts pt 2 with Rail carts that all fits under DA 5. $29 Hogwarts extension (decent courtyard or covered bridge) Worst Case would be: Dobbys sock, Helmet style builds, Brickheads, etc -

Even if 2021 proves to be a rougher year for the HP theme, I cant imagine the Lego Group abandoning it that quickly. It is a proven money maker that consistently will get new fans as kids are introduced to the books. Add to that the large group of AFOLS who love it. Add to that a string of Lego developed themes that seem to have underwhelmed such as: Hidden Side, Mokey Kid and I suspect the new Vidyo line. (Some really neat sets/pieces, but it doesnt seem they caught on or created any buzz or excitement) HP is a steady performer and likely one of the best selling themes they have. If anything, I could see the volume of sets slowing down or more gimmick type sets like the Hogwarts Moments, Hedwig build or the wall art. -

You make a valid point but again, 1 grainy, dark lit, single view potato phone camera pic of a set where you cant see the interior of the set is not really a fair barometer of the sets final appearance AND most people have said/agree that the minifigs are subect to a lot of changes and are likely just used for context in this photo. I am a little nervous too but I think that the photos indicate a nostalgic take on sets MANY people have requested and Lego is trying to deliver upon. I totally get if that style is not everyones cup of tea but I guess I am just trying to be positive and reserve any negativity and judgement until I see a truly "final" product. To your point, there are several circular staircases in the movies (DH scene where Luna yells at Harry about the diadem), but the moving staircases which were so magical in the earlier movies were very much straight/rectangular in design. It all depends on what the interior looks like and frankly, right now, we just dont know. -

So it took me the better part of 2 days to get myself caught up on the explosion of posts over the last few days... but I wanted to be mindful of the people who have such big opinions and feelings on this.... First off, thank you to Guyon and Falcon for sharing concrete knowledge about what is coming. Now, the only pics I saw were hardly enough to make full concrete opinions on... dark grainy thumbnail potato phone pics of 1 view of a set that are labeled "preliminary". Relax everyone. It is easy to find fault in things. What do you like about them? When the list of sets with minifig list dropped, it was met with excitement. I would say the sets match the description pretty fairly. They are clearly a throwback to the older waves of HP with some modernized bricks/techniques. Also, it delivers a LOT of what everyone has been asking for based on last years version of this thread. Why is everyone so upset? I think it is because everyone has their own vision of exactly how Lego HP should look and what it should include (with no consideration of cost/price per brick/mould/print, how it fits with everything else, etc) and unless expectations are met perfectly, people lash out with negativity. I am just as guilty of this. I want 2 Gringotts sets - 1 that is the building facade and interior, 1 that is the vaults and rail carts with Harrys vault, Bellatrix vault and of course the vault with the Sorcerors Stone and a dragon that fits under the entire DA set and new Gringotts building. This wont happen b/c it would cost a fortune and it assumes everyone would already own DA. I also want a HUGE ministry set with the Atrium and all the flu network entrances and a courtroom plus a prophecy room. Again, not likely. St Mungos would be a totally cool set with a mind erased Lockhart and maybe the Longbottoms too or a Leaky Cauldron or finally a nice and ecent sized courtyard for Hogwarts or a grand staircase or the long covered bridge BUT Lego is a building system ,so if I really want it, I can absolutely build it! It doesnt mean the June wave is bad, it just means Lego has a plan and that plan might not perfectly align with the awesome (but totally crazy) expectations of this forum. Perhaps 2020 taught Lego that their own inventory and ordering platform (Sales and delivery) was more fragile than they thought and they are building sets that are going to sell well to kids and widespread audience but not be bought 12 at a time by people looking to turn a profit on ebay and BL? I dont do this but dont have a problem with it either but I could see Lego not liking this as it puts their product on back order and/or sold out so "new" customers cant have it. Also, I remember the dark times between the Red Box HP legos and the relaunch in 2018. We are getting so many great sets and figures that we should be elated that the theme is still going. There is no rule that you have to own each set (even if we all know that you need to own each set ;-) ) just enjoy the ride, appreciate the sets that get you excited, dont buy the ones you dont like and display/create the wizarding world the way you want it. Always build, never kraggle! -

I love the book designs and builds and the list of sets coming in 2021 looks to be absolutely awesome! I have been getting caught up on this string as I took a bit of a break after DA dropped. Joining in on the speculation of exactly what the sets will be... I am desparetly hoping to see a Ministry of Magic set. The central hallway with flu network, Prophecy room, Room with the mirror, main lobby area and with a little luck the entrances via toilet or phone booth. This could easily be one of the bigger ticket items. I also think it is possible for Gringotts to be 2 separate sets: 1 is the street level view that lines up with the DA set. 2nd set could be a large set that is designed to fit UNDER DA and Gringotts and include Harry's vault, Bellatrix's vault, the dragon and a track with cart. In keeping with my pipe dream of using new sets in conjunction with old sets... It would be amazing to see a CoS set that fits under the Great Hall or Astronomy tower or one of the existing sets. This would serve to bring it all together and create greater depth/height for minifig scale Hogwarts. You could do the same for an anniversary set that has Fluffy, Winged Keys, Devils Snare, Wizard Chess, etc. These could be one crazy expensive set OR multiple sets that all join together. What does everyone think? -

There are still some fairly major parts of the castle still remaining (at least since the 2018 way moving forward), but they might not work as individual sets.. as mentioned, the boathouse, the bell towers, but also the large covered bridge, the owlry, the forbidden corridor, the chamber of secrets, grand staircases, Gryffindor Common Room and a few others.. That said, Modular buildings to make DA more robust would be awesome and a really neat way to get everything on peoples wishlist. I think it would be cool (although not even remotely likely) if the Gringotts set had a series of vaults that ran under the DA set to raise it all up. That way it could connect to the entire DA set but not look weird having the cart/track and vault sections as part of the set. It would also allow for the potential to have Knocturn Alley sets (or MOCs) be ccown the steps/hill that appears in the movie. Figures in the DA set are not amazing but we get a decent amount of them and the detail in the buildings and the set overall for the price is pretty crazy Also, I didnt see them on the grainy pics, but if QQS has torsos they likely are counted as minifigs... so while we see 14, TLG could be saying 16 or 17 based on that.. -

Hello everyone! I found this group during the shutdown/quarantine and have been so very appreciative of the content! This is my first post, so hopefully everyone is kind... That said, can we all just take a big deep breath? Leaks are exciting and cool but it's not worth getting actually upset over.... Until 2018, HP was a dead product line and now look at all the amazing sets that have been created. Given the degree that all of the sets are now inter-connected, I think it is evident that Lego has a plan for all of the sets we have, the sets we are pretty sure we are getting AND all the sets we dont even know are already happening behind the scenes. Based on the sticker sheets for DA, we are getting a LOT of the street. I hope we get a facade of the LC that serves as one end of the set and a facade of Gringotts that serves as the other end. I dont need a big huge bank set. Besides, it does already exist from the last time they did a DA set. It seems like the plan was to include shops and scenes that allow for more minifigs and stickers/prints to give endless options and MOCing opportunity to the fans out there. Adding in a full detail bank means lots of basic goblins and white bricks that are fairly specific. That takes away from all of those figures and shops so many are clamoring for (Lockhart, Rita Skeeter, WWW, etc). I love some of the curveballs in the upcoming CMF series and am really excited to see the DA set. Also, it seems from the comments, that most people are going to grab the set regardless and/or that future sets could be added to enhance existing sets. Perhaps a Gringotts set released next year could be the interior of the bank and the underground sections that could attach to the facade possibly coming in the DA set. Not needed to complete DA, can stand alone as a set, but when combined, holy cow, it is next level. Either way, happy building, enjoy that we are even getting new sets and only the best to you!
