I'm not so sure on it being that much bigger, though I don't have your X-Wing to compare to your Y-Wing in person so I could be wrong. I'm completely basing it off of the pictures and videos from BrickVault as well as their descriptions of length. Based on this photo (which is the original filming models scaled to the same size via the astromech droid), I'd say you got it pretty darn close. The UCS is a little under double the length of your X-Wing design, so I really can't see the Y-Wing needing to be bigger than the UCS for it to be in scale. Even disregarding this picture the Y-Wing does not appear to me to be that large in the movies. With that said, I would be curious to see what reference shots/videos you used to determine the scale, it's always interesting to see stuff like that.

Hi Jerac, what in-universe length did you scale this MOC to? There's two conflicting lengths, one is 23.4 meters and the other is 16.24 meters. The larger figure is what is listed on the Star Wars Databank and the general article for the Y-Wing on Wookieepedia. The 16.24 meter length comes from older legends material, the Rogue One Visual Dictionary, and is the figure that seems to match the OT filming models the best. The 23 meter length seems to be for the older Republic version of the Y-Wing.

Honestly, my favorite part of this set is the box art. Lego is really nailing it on the UCS box art. Is there any part of the build that you feel might cause some concern over time as the set ages (like the magnets of the original Star Destroyer or the sagging panels on the UCS Slave 1)?

I would love both sets, though they'd both be huge at minifig scale so they would definitely come close the price point we've seen the Falcon and SD at. I also don't know if the Sail Barge would sell all that well for LEGO to justify it, it's just not as iconic as the MF, SD, or AT-AT are. Then again Hasbro was successful with getting backers for the 3.75" Sail Barge so who knows.

I forgot all about that. It's pretty appalling for critics to say LEGO is promoting racism because a fictional character's fictional home slightly resembles a religious landmark. I can understand the reasoning behind LEGO pulling it though, it's just best to avoid controversy, especially when at the end of the day LEGO is all about having fun. Anyhow, perhaps a larger Sail Barge then. With a couple of skiffs, sarlacc pit, and detailed interior section or two where Jabba and Leia's scenes took place. You can still have a lot of the minifig opportunities there too. Though I have heard that Lucasfilm no longer licenses the Slave Leia look, so that could be a big issue.

If we do get another UCS/Master Builder playset style set, I'd love a Jabba's Palace. The last one was what, 2012? It was a great set, especially combined with the rancor pit, but something of a larger, more detailed design would be great. A lot of great exclusive minifig potential as well.

I have little interest in the sequel trilogy stuff for the most part because I just don't care for the films or the majority of ship designs. The resistance bomber, Kylo Ren's Tie Fighter, and the upcoming Millennium Falcon all appeal to me though, I might eventually nab them at some point. I used to be pretty indifferent to Star Wars stuff but the older I get the narrower my views get. I like Episode III and Clone Wars (both the in-universe era and the show) so that stuff appeals to me. The OT is my preferred era overall but we tend to get a lot of the same stuff there. There's only so many X-Wings, Y-Wings, Landspeeders, and Snowspeeders you can really make.
