So we got it all in today! man is it cool. Really glad I bought three boxes of extra track, the kit didn't nearly come with enough. Took a little longer to build than I thought, no big deal though. The kids really like it. I just ordered the kit with the switch plates and one more box of tracks. Should really open it up some more. Excited to add to the small city we started building!

Thanks for all the replies fellas. I rebuilt the whole thing today, not sure what I missed but its working now. Super slow, but it seems normal compared to all the YouTube videos I've seen. I pulled all my models out and took a couple pics to share. Im trying to upload some other pics but it keeps saying the file is to big. There already small.

Yes the motor is working. That one particular motor only turns that one track (I think). How am I suppose to know which one it is? Did they release a updated manual or something? I have no idea which one it could be. Man I really don’t feel like tearing that thing down AGAIN.

I bought the 8043 trackhoe on eBay recently. The guy shipped it all put together. Took it out the box, looked it over and began to operate the functions. Instantly noticed a problem, one track turns and the other doesn’t. The first thing I thought was he put it together wrong. So I took the whole thing apart and rebuilt it, which I planned to do anyway. Same thing, the track still doesn’t turn. I took my time and really followed the instructions. Now I’m stuck, I did some research and there was some threads on other problems but not this. Anyone have any idea? Please help!!,

Also, is there a way to buy LEGO train track in bulk? There’s no way you guys are buying those small boxes with a few straight and curved pieces and building these big city’s. That’s going to cost a fortune to build a city buying those 60205 box kits.

I bought this set used. But it moves super smooth and free with just the turn table in my hand. The moment I put it all together it gets tough to turn. I don’t know, maybe it’s just the weight of the whole crane assembly resting on top of it. It’s ok I guess, I didn’t buy it to be played with. Just to add to my collection. Still wish it was a little smoother though.

Gotcha! Thank you. That was going to be my next question. Where to buy parts and stuff. I know you can buy traditional train stuff from hobby stores that come complete. So when it comes to LEGO trains you can’t buy the cars already built with the trucks?

Super excited. I just won the bid on a 60198 kit. I grew up playing with Legos and never had any of the trains. Everything I had was all Technic, which I still have all my models. My 7 year old twin daughters love lego and trains, so this is something that I can do with them, really excited. I also bought 3 boxes of the 60205. Hoping to expand the track a little. I don't know anything about the lego trains, so this is going to be a learning experience for me. If you'd like to share anything, like what and what not to do, please do!!!

I recently picked up this model that I've been wanting for quite some time. Ive fully built it and operated the functions. But the turn table "not sure what the correct name is" is real tough to turn with the wheel in the back. With it off the model, it turns great, put it all together and it gets tough again. Yes I've double checked the instructions several times and I have it put together correct. Anyone had this issue and found a fix for it?

Hey everyone, really excited I found this forum. I need help with a few things. I mostly collect Technic models but have a few other regular Lego models. My kids are getting into Legos also, super excited about that, were looking at some train stuff now. I'm gonna spend alot of time on this forum!!!
