  1. I’m hoping for dioramas (the book nook didn’t quite do it for me, I want more landscapey sets). The hobbits hiding from the black rider under the tree root would be perfect imo. Gandalf arriving to the Shire would also be great, but I guess that’s covered by the Shire set. I loved the landscape and colors of Rivendell, a compact landscape with a similar feeling would be great.
  2. Looks too much like an action figure to me, I was hoping they’d capture the scene better with the bridge and chasm and general Moria vibe. Considering this and the Shire set, I guess this theme isn’t really aimed at me anymore. A shame, Rivendell held such promise of next-level display sets
  3. If the budget wasn’t enough to do a proper tree, they shouldn’t have done the tree at all. The current party tree is an embarrassment
  4. Oh wow that is beautiful. That’s the impression I was expecting to get from the set reveal (I get the trees were never going to be that lush, but at least more like that)
  5. Not in the same league as Rivendell unfortunately. Just watched JangBricks reaction to the announcement and I largely agree with what he said. It’s a pass for me, sadly.
  6. Maybe I’m in a minority here but I was hoping for a more vibrant color palette. The color palette was one of my favorite aspects of Rivendell, and they managed to do much with little with Barad-dûr as well. This one seems to be mostly the same shade of green. It looks a bit basic color-wise to my eyes unfortunately
  7. Excited for smaller sets! I just got Rivendell and it’s going to be a while (if ever) before I feel comfortable spending that kind of money on a lego set again, so smaller but still displayable sets are very welcome!
  8. I personally think lotr would be perfect for dioramas!
  9. Sorry I worded it a bit weirdly, I was more worried about worse discounts due to increased interest in the theme. But I guess that’s not likely to happen?
  10. Does anyone know if discounts for Rivendell are likely to be affected by the reveal of Barad-dûr? On the one hand, there will be a new shiny lotr set which may lead to better discounts? On the other hand, there might be renewed interest in the theme? Or it might simply not affect the Rivendell price at all? I’ve been eyeing Rivendell at a discount for a while now (it’s currently at 13% off here).
  11. I assume many people who buy lotr lego are collectors, and don’t want to miss out on exclusive sets. I’ve frequently seen Rivendell at 20% off or more, so the gwp will likely turn out to be very expensive since you have to buy at full price to get it. Timed exclusive gwps exploit fomo and are very anti-consumer.
  12. Images of all the sets are up on brickset.com :)
  13. They did stickers before sadly, the parade from last year had them for example (part of the reason I never bought it). It’s a shame, the CNY sets used to be filled with prints and no stickers for a while
  14. Exciting!! The Chinese New Year sets are always really good, even for someone like myself who don’t celebrate Chinese New Year! I hope it’s something to do with food. I missed out on the dinner set a couple of years back (I don’t think they sold it in the west?), although I was able to buy the printed food pieces from ‘bricks and pieces’ surprisingly enough
