LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Accio Lego replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This could definitely work well – there are plenty of instruments that haven’t been made yet, not to mention a few that could do with being brought back (the bagpipes, Keytar, etc.). There’s also the fact that Vidiyo went defunct rather suddenly, and there are several instruments that haven’t appeared since then, plus we know there are parts made for the unreleased sets that have never been used elsewhere. My vote would be either hurdy-gurdy or serpentine since lute has already been done -
Five seems like pushing it on the set’s mold budget when there’s also bound to be minifigures that will need new hair pieces too.

The Ideas Tintin Rocket has leaked and includes Snowy, although due to him wearing a little doggy space suit I don’t think his mold has any other potential uses.

Some leaked sketch (clearly traced) images have surfaced of summer Harry Potter sets. The Knockturn Alley Shops set is confirmed to include Ron Weasley’s dog as part of the anniversary patronuses gimmick. The leak shows said dog as having ears much less pointed than the shepherd puppy and a distinctly upright tail that doesn’t match any preexisting mold, but does fit the fact that Ron’s patronus is specifically supposed to be a Russel Terrier. It’s not conclusive but it does seem worth getting optimistic about. The other leaked sketch is of the East Wing – the patronus isn’t confirmed as of yet, but the leak do seem to feature a new flying phoenix mold for Fawkes.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

I think it’s hard to gauge if series 30 will be themed without knowing whether 2027 will have one unlicensed series or two. Both the most recent themed series came back to back with a normal unlicensed series in the same year, which seems like a calculated move only Lego’s part to Lee the largest number of fans happy possible. -
Dragon Ball minifigures, a Yu-Gi-Oh contest that will likely be won by a set with minifigures, a new rumor of a Pokeball with minifigures… Lego has just decided it’s going to do all the anime hair then

The Encanto sets were minidoll based – the toucan was never going to show up in them the same way the capybara introduced in them will never show up in a City set. It’s not a reflection on how willing lego would be to use the toucan in a Minifigure system set.

Yeah, I’m not sure where people got the idea that the goat mold was originally deliberately destroyed from lack of use, but I distinctly remember reading an interview with a designer who stated that they’d gone to pull the mold from storage to use and found it damaged. Honestly, I doubt unique, out of use molds take up much space comparatively in the grand scheme of things, and I imagine the threshold for destroying them would have more to do with when they no longer maintain progressed system standards instead of some arbitrary time period. There are plenty of other reasons for animals to go a long time between appearances. The toucan, for instance, is triple molded and therefore expensive to produce and will only come back when there’s a specific need for it in a set.

Ugh, don’t get me started – even beyond all the ones that refuse to recognize that ears aren’t part of the skeleton – I’ve seen spiders, octopuses, butterflies… I even saw a snail once! A SNAIL!

Glad I was right about the Cute Witch coming with a cat familiar, and certainly not complaining that it turned out to be a new sitting cat mold instead of a black kitten recolor like I thought it might be! Also glad for the confirmation that the Unicorn Elf comes with a unicorn foal as her name suggested. And I like this mane color better than the purple as well. Definitely on my must have list. Clownfish is very well done with a nice looking minifig accompanying it – although I will be looking into part options to build her a proper anemone. The fish skeleton is a cool new part that I can see plenty of people using to add fun details to their builds and nicely completes a Minifigure that might objectively be the best of the series. The baby dragon recolor being unprinted is expected, but still limits its usefulness.

I wouldn’t rule them out – all of them have been around long enough that they’ve got a solid stable of adult fans. Sesame Street and Winnie the Pooh both got larger sets than you’d expect from their target audiences too. They were both Ideas sets, but the point stands that Lego knows they can sell $100+ standalone sets of a kid friendly IP. The Ideas submissions for ATLA, for instance, often feature fairly sizable buildable Appas and half a dozen minifigs — probably already pushing the ‘P’ price tag, and if you add a side build… Likewise, a well done Krusty Krab could easily make the $160 range. Admittedly, my experience with TMNT is almost exclusively through seeing commercials for the toys as a kid, but I remember enough to know you could easily throw together an appropriately priced set for them, especially since it would need to be even more minifigure heavy than the other two.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Accio Lego replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It’s been awhile since Lego has made a Green Lantern, but if you look up the DC CMF you can see what I’m talking about. Lantern characters in DC comics get their superpowers from rings. Obviously, Lego minifigures can’t wear rings, but there are some instances of Lego representing it by having the Minifigure hold a clear 79194 shaft with knob with a 1x1 circular tile with the ring’s symbol printed on attached to it. So, essentially an accessory worn on a finger turned into a handheld accessory. Theoretically, a wrist mounted accessory could work with a similar treatment. -

Ugh, yes, I was reading through the comments on a social media post about the announcement and there were so many people speculating and saying what they’d like it to be. Like… you could actually do something about that, you know. You could design something for the contest or at least make an account to vote for the finalists. One previous contest and CMF isn’t a pattern, obviously, but it has established that there’s a possibility of more when a license specific contest like this shows up – whether that’s a CMF like D&D, Brickheadz, or something else. And this license in particular would certainly benefit from a CMF budget for minifig parts. -

Either side leg printing or a hip piece like the Batman utility belt, depending on how important Lego and the license holder think that accessory is. More interesting is how they’d go about those duel disk things – some new way to do wrist mounted accessories or just take some artistic liberties and have it be handheld like the Green Lantern rings of recent iteration? I’ve got no skin in the game, as it were, so it’s really just rank curiosity for me. I’ll be interested to see if the finalists for the Ideas contest are minifig compatible like the D&D one or not – that should give at least some indication on whether Lego is planning a concurrent minifig series or not. -

The rumored Yu-gi-oh Lego Ideas contest has been announced, and I figure it’s worth bringing up in the future CMFs thread because we’re seeing the same format used for D&D, which ultimately had a CMF released alongside its big Ideas set. My knowledge of the franchise is limited, but I do know there are plenty of hair wigs and accessories needed that would make a CMF for the theme completely justified.
