  1. I think some people forget that the majority of this line is made for kids first and foremost. All 3 of mine love Harry Potter sets and also enjoy the DK & ameet books. My 11 year old was extremely excited to get Percy as she's wanted the rest of the Weasley family for years. We're also a low income family, and they have to be patient as we can't usually afford to buy any sets at rrp. But being the intended audience for this, they'll enjoy the book itself just as much as the minifig, so it's not bad value for money imo.
  2. That's condescending and patently untrue but never mind.
  3. 1. It doesn't mean you can't, much in the same way LEGO own rules don't allow their employee's or partners to share info about unreleased product with outsiders, even though that's literally how every leak happens. 2. Surely the original "Source" has betrayed the trust of the company they work for by passing this information onto an outsider in the first place, that's without a doubt a breach of contract. Any leak prior to an official announcement will be viewed in the same way by LEGO themselves. Besides, there will be many people with this inside info, an anonymous account doesn't implicate any specific "source". 3. If that was the case, they'd give all the info in one go, rather than dangling the proverbial carrot. The amount of time "leakers" bang on about how much they know or tease a future unveiling, (which never comes to fruition) just proves my point. 4. That's a bit like having someone pre warn you what all your Christmas presents are going to be, just to save you from perceived disappointment. It could also have the opposite effect and make you disappointed for something that might actually turn out better than you think when the final product releases. We've seen as much with the pre-release images recently. I'm not saying leaks are inherently bad, I just dislike the culture and clique behind leakers and those who salivate after every morsel they drop. I do understand why the defenders of leakers will react negatively to my opinion. Obviously you value their information and wish to stamp out any dissenting voices which might impact any future leaks. It is also ironic that I'm being called out for jealousy and impatience when I actually prefer to wait even longer, for LEGO's official unveiling of the new sets, rather than participate in the "will they, won’t they" rollercoaster of LEGO leaks & leakers.
  4. It would be quite simple for anyone with the knowledge of these sets to create an anonymous burner account to release the info. Some people obviously feel superior having info that they can keep from others. I'm willing to bet most of these "sources" are obtained by casually chumming up to people they suspect to hold the info they need via social media until said "source" breaks. TBH id rather "leakers" didn't exist at all. Being patient and waiting for the official LEGO announcement would be preferable to entertaining the egos of certain "fans" who would be better off putting up or shutting up.
  5. Well to balance all the negativity I absolutely LOVE all these sets, and I'm also looking forward to the Gold figures. I've shown them to my children as well, and they are also excited. As a family we've never been disappointed by any of the Potter sets going back to 2001, (apart from the recent art set). So perhaps we are easily pleased or maybe the target audience for this wave is kids between 5-11 and 40 something's
  6. As an owner and big fan of all the original sets, I absolutely love these, will be getting them all day 1 for sure. Hopefully with nice Potter themed GWP alongside them.
  7. Package from DPD just arrived, box was damaged and instead of Diagon Alley there was just the advent calendar (which I didn't order) and the Brickheadz set! (which was badly crushed). Never had this problem with the LEGO in the past. Going to try my luck with customer services now, so disappointed :(
  8. Nothing from LEGO yet, just paypal confirmation. Same thing happened with Barracuda Bay on release but it came through in the end. I'm off to bed now though!
  9. Just got one with the GWP in the UK!
  10. Available in the UK, not seeing the GWP yet though so holding out for now.
  11. After watching the Boone Build and MandRproductions reviews I'm definitely going to display this in 2 sections, making an alley with the 2011 Gringotts at the end. If I had more money I'd buy 2 of these and build up the floors, but alas my budget won't stretch that far. I'd like to get as close to this view as possible.
  12. Is there any other brickheadz coming apart from Hagrid & Buckbeak. I seem to remember a rumour of a Hogwarts students set and possibly another set earlier in the year?
  13. I was kind of hoping the GWP would be another micro Diagon AlIey, but featuring the other side of the street. Also, as I cannot stand Instagram and refuse to have an account, is there any alternative place to find all these leaks that keep dropping?
  14. The wait for the new DA set was killing me so much that I just went to ebay and grabbed the 2011 set. Going to keep me busy while I wait for the new one.
  15. Does anyone know why the Burrow is not available to pre-order anywhere in the UK? Is it exclusive to one shop?
  16. Was going to pre-order these but I've already bought Pirates of Barracuda Bay and the Ideas Treehouse set this month. So will wait until later in the year when the possible gift with purchase shows up and possibly buy a case of the cmf's as well. The GWP, CMF series and Brickheadz from 2018 all retired relatively quickly and then shot up in price, so I will grab those first and then the regular sets and the Diagon Alley around Christmas or early 2021.
  17. If you search for "restore lego" on youtube there's lots of video's showing the Hydrogen Peroxide technique, seems to work best on white and grey pieces, but should work on other colours as well.
  18. Mostly ebay, although I've had problems recently trying to get old brown and receiving the newer reddish brown on Bricklink. I wish I could wait for the sun, but I could be waiting months for a decent clear day here. I think the last sunny day we had was in September! lol
  19. Been trying to complete my older Harry Potter set collection whilst we wait patiently for news on the upcoming sets. One thing that's proving a complete nightmare is making sure the 2001-2003 sets all have the correct colours. The amount of second hand sellers listing as "complete", yet a big chuck of the older Light Grey, Dark grey and Brown pieces have, in actual fact, been swapped for their more modern counterparts. This makes buying these older sets quite troublesome. The other thing is a lot of these sets seem to have yellowing to the grey pieces as well. I've seen the method using Hydrogen Peroxide and leaving it in the sun to remove the yellow. Unfortunately this time of year in the UK the sun is rarely seen. Has anyone tried using a UV lamp instead. I'm thinking that might be a good alternative.
  20. Anyone seen these? Great use of the mini and micro builds, very creative.
  21. Hopefully any future COS set would include a rocky outcrop exterior, this would make the perfect base for the existing Hogwarts sets. Something many are already adding to their custom displays. They could then continue the design with other dungeon sets (Slytherin common room, Philosophers Stone chambers etc). Adding a complete lower level to Hogwarts would eventually give a nice "raised up" look for the main part of the castle, similar to that of the UCS.
  22. Thanks for the link, yeah I'll probably grab something in time for next Christmas. Once this year's Potter sets and prices are official confirmed I can start juggling the finances and put some money towards a 3rd party set.
  23. I was considering getting an unofficial lighting set for Hogwarts UCS last Christmas. Was excited to hear LEGO were possibly releasing their own official versions, but at those prices! No way. Saying that, some of the unofficial versions feature remote controlled displays, with colour changing lighting sequences and flickering effects for the candles in the great hall etc. I doubt any official version will match the features and price of those unfortunately.
  24. Perhaps Gatekeeping was the wrong word, but it does seem some posters consistently come off as overly negative towards what I would consider quite interesting ideas. Reading this pattern over pages and pages of this thread becomes somewhat tiresome and usually puts me off posting myself.
  25. I don't post much here but enjoy reading the discussion in the thread and seeing the excitement build since the leaks for this year releases. However, I have noticed a lot of gatekeeping from certain members that seems to think their opinion of what LEGO will or won't release overrides anyone else's. Honestly anyone can make up rules based on assumptions and guess work, but unless LEGO themselves come out and state that they will never release a set for whatever reason then really anything goes. It's much more fun to explore and discuss any possibilities with an open mind rather than shutting down every avenue bought forward, just because is doesn't ring true with your own particular likelihoods and rule sets.
