  1. working on designing a series of sets featuring LEGO Disney Princesses

  2. Just like to point out that the Production Department, and the Advertising and Printing Departments are not intertwined. On that note last month when PotC was coming out LEGO Brand Retail had three different release dates for the sets; the date printed on the In-store Events calendars, the official country by country release date emailed to every store globally, and the date of actual product arrival; the last being the date we ended up having to go by simply because we can't shelve what we don't have in stock, meanwhile our local TRU had them a week ahead of our earliest release date. As to quality control; my biggest personal gripe isn't with the colors it's with the quantity; I have to refer at least a dozen customers to the "missing bricks" link on the LEGO website during an average 8 hour shift. And why the heck do the faces on my keychains only last a max of 6 months before they fade away? Poor Doby was blind after about 2 months of being on my keys.
  3. So as someone who grew up only aware of the very basic bricks and is now confronted on a daily basis with the complexity that LEGO has become; I feel compelled to ask the question: "Who do you build for? What kind of building appeals most to you? And most importantly; why?
  4. Ok so I'm trying to do a build that opens up using LDD only I can't seem to get the hinge pieces to work, i.e. they only want to go in straight lines and not at angles. I'm I just bad at using LDD or is there some trick I haven't learned yet?
  5. Given their size I'm kind of expecting to see them as part of the Build-A-Mini accessories
  6. Well here's fingers crossed that not only am I able to get my current idea approved but that I do a good enough job designing and/or describing it that it turns into a series she will want to play with.
  7. I'm sending the file to LEGO Brand Retail's Southeastern Regional Manager, from previous conversations with her I know she already has LDD on her computers, so that's not a concern, so long as I keep my files to LDD and not some other non-official program.
  8. My main issue is with the receiver being able to view the full 3D image and get the whole impression of what I'm trying for. This project has been consuming my (admittedly small amount of) mental stability; I can't afford to lose any sleep over worries of possible misinterpretations. As for them "stealing" my idea; 1. when I was hired as a sales associate I had to sign a waiver essentially stating LEGO owns my creative ideas, and 2. at this point so long as I get to build the display sets for my store when they come out I don't care about who owned them, I get to look at them and know I had the idea and I helped at least in part to make it a reality.
  9. So about two weeks ago my store received most of the new Spring line of LEGO sets, and as cool as PoTC is, as great as the new Harbor/Marina City sets are, as cool looking as the new Alien Conquest line is; the thing I was the Most excited about when we opened the boxes; were the little LEGO buckets show in the Kingdom's set Mill Village Raid. Just wondering if I'm the only spaz out there, or if others thought this was cool too. So far it seems to be a nifty selling point if nothing else.
  10. Ok so up until recently I was unaware that LEGO made sound bricks; as of writing this I have not yet had the opportunity to test one out. So I have some questions and I'm hoping to get some answers from those who may know. First of all; do they work the same as the light bricks in that you have to hold the button down to get them to play the whole sound? Secondly; any idea how many seconds of sound they are capable of holding? And finally; can they be reprogrammed to play something different?
  11. We do this for every Grand Opening weekend, as well as many Grand Re-openings. Last year when my store opened we built Buzz Lightyear (coincidentally we also opened the same weekend Toy Story 3 was released in Theaters) Our store the Aventura Mall (Miami FL) location will be having a Large Scale Build Event next month to celebrate the one year anniversary of our Grand Opening; I'm looking forward to it.
  12. I have a few complete sets of Series 3 plus a bunch of duplicates I have 7 complete sets of Series 4, and a few duplicates of those as well. I am looking for; Hogwarts torso's Series 1 Zombies(Lots of them) or Money
  13. I've been asked to formally submit my ideas for a series of sets, I could simply do this in writing but I feel I'd have a much better reaction if I could also send completed LDD builds to show roughly what I'm interested in doing. Is there a way to save LDD files so that they can be emailed as attachments?
  14. I was not a fan of the color pink myself as a young girl. And you have no idea how much of a relief it was when the Ninjago sets came out with a Nya spinner, yet still the majority of the parents who come into my store with daughters are looking for more feminine sets, things with princesses and tea parties and baby dolls. A friend of mine who once tried to get LEGO to make Final Fantasy sets (had square and everyone on board but never heard back from LEGO) made me a customized Alice minifigure but that was for the new American McGee game coming out soon and a bit outside the family friendly LEGO image. My current obsession is using LDD to try and make Beast's castle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
  15. I have a ton of both of those, what do you want to trade them for?
  16. About me: well from starters I am currently employed as a sales associate for LEGO Brand Retail Inc based at the Aventura store in Miami Florida. I've been with the store since they opened nearly a year ago and despite it being primarily a regular sucky retail job; I love it, I love when new products come in, I love when something new has to go up for display and I get a chance to build it, I love working the Monthly Mini Model Builds, I love the club meetings, and I especially love the customers who come in with their stories. What I don't love is the lack of "Girl Friendly" Products currently gracing our store shelves. Fortunately Belville has finally gone back into production, but for the last 4 months we've only had a small sad pink box of 402 pieces to point to shamefully whenever a customer asks the question, "What do you have that's specifically for girls?" My current goal is to find some way some where to get in contact with some body who can help me change this and to help create more Official LEGO sets and series specifically tailored to girls. Till then I spend my off hours building my sets and screaming at my computer when the LDD fails to have the pieces I need to build the set that's been in my head all day.
