  1. My post has been updated with series 5 and 6.
  2. +1 for RubeusHagrid +1 for Wily Manc +1 for SilentMode Thanks for three very successful trades. My Series 4 is complete!
  3. I guess that if I'm interested in doing reviews, this is the place for me as well. I certainly have three complete sets (and then some), a digital SLR camera as I like to dabble in a bit of photography, and am presently off work on maternity leave so have more time to dedicate to such things, small person permitting.
  4. What a fantastic classic Town layout - a lot of those sets really bring back memories for a lot of us, I'm sure! Some day I will retrieve all my old Lego from my parents' house and build my town back up again. Might need to move to a bigger house first, though!
  5. Right. I have a £50-ish budget with which I can buy whatever set I like, but my husband has also said he'd like me to review said set and post it here for everyone (he's been reviewing software etc for years and thinks I should have a go at reviewing something that I'm interested in, and I'd love to give it a shot). I'm going to restrict it to either City or Creator, but beyond that I'm fairly openminded. I'm usually all about houses but fancy a change of scene/theme but not sure what way to go. Any suggestions? A couple of smaller sets would do either. Sorry for giving you so little to go on!
  6. I had mostly town stuff - houses, vehicles, horsey stuff - none of it was particularly gender-specific. But I was just happy to build the stuff and then use it as a big backdrop for all sorts of dramas involving the minifig "characters" that all had names, jobs, family history etc. My sister (one of the least pink and fluffy girls I knew at the time) had lots of Fabuland and Paradisa but we just combined it all together to create a great big multicultural world where poodles could marry minifigs. Even today I'm not much of a creator and just stick to the instructions - I don't think I have the creativity to do MOCs or anything like that. My husband says his sister was quite happy building space stations as a child.
  7. +1 for RubeusHagrid - thanks for a great trade!
  8. List updated (hope that works!)
  9. Most of my houses are built and on display in various places (every time my mother visits they seem to mysteriously rearrange) as are the Grand Emporium and Medieval Market Village. Most of the other sets have been broken down and put in a couple of boxes. I'd love a glass-fronted display unit to keep some of my favourites in, but I think a lot more will get put away soon as toddler-proofing the house becomes a priority. (Edited because I think rather than thunk - good old Apple autocorrect)
  10. Just popping in to say hello after browsing your Flickr stream - your MOCs are absolutely stunning!

  11. Pretty much anyone who has ever visited the house can't help but notice that there's Lego everywhere. It's sparked some interesting conversations with people like midwives and health visitors who otherwise know nothing at all about me, but friends and family just accept it. My mother thinks the money would be better spent elsewhere, but my niece and nephew love visiting us and playing with our Lego. The only complaint my nephew has is that we don't have enough cars as I mostly collect houses and other buildings. I've ordered a few sets online and got them delievered to work, but unless they read the return address I think my colleagues would be none the wiser, or just assume it was a present for a child. I did tell one female colleague when I got the Medieval Market Village, but her response was a bit sort of "Awww, bless, isn't is cute that you still play with toys?" I'm becoming much less worried about what people think, and in years to come hopefully I'm creating a fantastic collection of Lego for my daughter to play with just like I did as a child.
  12. I'm really enjoying all the LEGO resources online, particularly being able to browse through all the old sets and think "Wow, I remember that!" This was my absolute favourite set as a child: I was also quite fond of "Caroline" (my sister and I took it all very seriously back in the day, the minifigs all had names and storylines worthy of any soap opera - construction worker marrying Fabuland poodle, anyone?) in her little yellow car. I rescued her from the big box of LEGO last time I visited my parents and now she's living a life of relative luxury in Apple Tree House. **Edited to add my hubby's contribution: What about you? What LEGO sets did you love as a child?
  13. Removing the first digit, I'm a "Midi-scale Millenium Falcon". Which is cool, and all, but if I remove the last digit instead, I am the cutest little plane ever!
  14. Great review. I do love the look of this set. So much so that I may have accidentally stopped by the local TRU (hey, it's not my fault it's between me and pretty much anywhere I might ever want to go) and picked one up this evening. Can't wait to get building!
  15. At the moment the collectable ones are sitting on the lounge window-sill, grouped by series, and the non-collectable ones are everywhere. There's at least one on my computer desk (possibly more, but I daren't disturb the piles of junk to investigate) and two on my husband's. I have a dream of one day owning a glass-fronted display case thing for my Lego, but I think it might be a while!
  16. Hi! I'm 30-something, female, married to a husband who is very understanding of my Lego obsession (he pretty much encourages it) with a baby who is just a little bit too young for it all just yet. She'll have plenty to play with when she's old enough, though! My childhood love of Lego was reignited a few years ago when I was looking for suitable subjects for a macro photography project. I mostly collect houses and house-like things, particularly the Creator ones (that new Lighthouse looks like it'd be a nice addition to my collection at some point) and collectable sets like the Medieval Market Village and modular sets. Due to baby-related financial restrictions I've lately been restricting myself to the collectable minifigs, but I can still dream. My husband wanted Lego and a train set for Christmas, so I bought him the Cargo Train set and satisfied both requirements in one
